    The guys were curious why the Japanese swords are curved.
    Japanese iron is extremely low quality. So to make high quality swords, they have to use a technique called differential tempering to remove impurities from the blade. The Japanese folded steel to create their swords, creating a brittle but extremely sharp outer edge, and an inner edge that is hardier and more durable that holds the blade together. The end result is that different parts of the blade cool at different rates during quenching, causing the blade to curve.
    Although the curve was a byproduct of the forging process, it actually made katanas extremely good cutting weapons. As a curved blade is better for cutting than a straight one, since it concentrates more force along a smaller surface area.

    • @0okamino
      @0okamino Před dnem +3

      While a lot of “sword guys” will say that Japanese swords are overhyped (and that’s a fair enough assessment to some degree, particularly in pop culture), what they can’t deny is that traditional Japanese swordsmithing is one of the biggest epitomes of doing the best you can with what geological and metallurgical circumstances you are given.

    Is there a word for head or arm In your language? Whenever a HEAD is severed,close caption sais NECK is severed. Whenever an arm is severed,close caption sais HAND is severed. • @syedmahdi3254
      @syedmahdi3254 Před 3 dny +1

      There is a word for head and neck separately. "gala" is neck, "sar" is head.
      But when you translate English into Hindi, the saying turns into "gala kaat diya"(neck was cut to translate it literally)
      that's the just the most popular and common way of saying it. Nobody says head was cut (since that would mean cutting the head itself into two).
      When you say neck was cut it implies the person was decapitated.
      This is why when they translated it back again to English it says "neck".
      When it comes to hand and arm, it's the same word (haath) used usually.

However, I do admire Tarantino, he is undeniably great. I have seen Django and Hateful 8, and they pass my benchmark for "acceptable". Lucky for me, I've heard people say Kill Bill I and II is his worst, in terms of lasting relevance. I know it's some of y'all's favorite, and I don't doubt that Tarantino really sells the violence, but just out of spite, I'll continue to refuse. I just think a person should have the right to refuse seeing a movie if they don't want to. :(
