- Explores the Quantity Usage Glitch in Dark Souls Remastered. While not a dupe in the standard sense, it does allow you to use more Humanity and Soul items than you actually have. There are a few different setups and ways to get the most out if it any run from speedruns to casual runs alike.

@hassanowais4097, unfortunately boss souls (and other consumables with confirmation prompts) work a bit differently and can't benefit from this glitch. Using a Soul of a Great Hero should give you just as many souls though and can be a good replacement choice.

do wooden arrows work with this?
i saw that it was cheaper from the female undead merchant from the wiki. not sure but can you confirm?
Should work with any item that has a quantity prompt. Any type of arrow is usually a good choice since they have a max quantity of 999 instead of 99. I believe even Andre has wooden arrows, but I'm pretty sure some speedrun (maybe SL1?) uses the female undead merchant for this.

Hey man i've been trying this and I can't get it to work. I open the drop menu on 999 arrows, click cancel, stack the brightness window with my inventory, and from there I can use my soul item but I never get the quantity menu, it simply uses the one I have... Do you have any idea what might be going wrong? I'm on prepare to die edition on PC.
I also tried putting the soul in second slot and moving down and pressing ok in the brightness menu, but from there the options menu just disappears and I don't get the chance to move to the quit game option like some people are saying.
Unfortunately this method probably only works for Remastered version. I don't have PTDE so have not tested any methods for it, but there should be plenty of content on how to do it from other folks.
@@keiferjhI am playing remastered on pc and it doesn't work. I got the menu glitch, but when I get to "Use Item" it doesn't let me get to 999.
@@MrThrillz hard to say what exactly it'd be without more information. Does the quantity prompt at least show three digits? If it doesn't that means that it's not using any information from the ammunition you're trying to use. My best general suggestions are to keep trying and make sure that you don't accidentally open other quantity menus and do not try to change quantities with the mouse.

Hey dudes, they didn’t patch this did they? The SOTLU item is still only popping up 1 to use after glitching the brightness menu.
Still works. What are you using to try and set the value? If you're using arrows do you get "01" or "001"? The latter should mean you're most of the way there. Just note that clicking the down arrow with the mouse or using the mouse scroll wheel downwards will not work; you either need to use the controller or mouse wheel up.
omg thanks for telling me that i can just hold down to move more than once with one press... this got me stuck so hard casue i wanted a way to do it with only controller thansk alot
I think it's more common to see folks use the "press down and right" approach, but I also often find the "hold down" approach to work better for me sometimes. Though it doesn't work as well for me if I can't hear the game very well since the audio cues are very helpful.
How do I get it to overlap using mouse and keyboard.
You should be able to follow mostly the same setup that's at 4:02. You can substitute any of the Controller inputs with the corresponding Keyboard inputs; by default this mostly means using 'E' on the Keyboard instead of 'A' on the Controller for selecting items.

I'm not aware of any official statements on it, but there should be no issue. If you want to be extra safe you can also play offline.
it’s not working for me the menu from the soul doesn’t over lapse and when i try to go to default it says only 1 like to use only 1 and not the 999
Interesting. If you get the brightness window to overlap the inventory screen, then subsequent menus should continue to overlap.
Getting quantity prompt of 1 after selecting 'Defaults' usually means that somehow some other quantity got stored before you finished the glitch; usually from an accidental 'Use' or 'Drop'. Fixing this usually means starting back from the step to store your desired value (like from pretending to drop arrows) and making sure no other quantity prompt is open before finishing the glitch.
The only other thing it reminds me of is if you use the mouse to select 'Use item' while the Brightness menu is open. Using the mouse to highlight 'Use Item' is fine, but if you click with the mouse you'll also get the default quantity prompt of say 1 instead of 999. When using the Brightness method it is important that the Controller (or technically Keyboard) is the one that actively "clicks" 'Use Item' and 'Defaults'.
@@keiferjh Also doesn't work for me. I'm on pc, I have a single soul in my inventory. I go to the merchant, select a high quantity of arrows. I then leave the merchants shop, open my inventory, move the soul to slot 1 and then go to brightness. I get the inventories to overlap, but I can never select more than one soul, even if no other count menu has been opened in between.

Did you manage to figure out what was happening? Usually this happens if some other quantity gets selected, perhaps accidentally, while doing the glitch. Or it can happen if you use the mouse to click "Use Item" depending on what setup you're using.
Does this work on the trilogy dark souls?
It should. These steps should work for Dark Souls Remastered, which it looks like the Dark Souls Trilogy bundle does include.

I got the overlapping screen and selected the item and all i got was what was in my inventory
This could happen if somehow while attempting the glitch another action took the stored quantity value. Such as when another quantity box is shown while attempting to get the overlapping screens. The best thing I can suggest is to try again starting with setting a new quantity. Thankfully you should be able to see whatever value you will get before you use the item, so it's possible to try as many times as possible without wasting any items.
Should I turn off the online mode ?
I prefer "better safe than sorry" so would recommend playing offline if experimenting with this.
How do we do this without a controller??
Same principles as in the video, except you use the keyboard inputs for the controller inputs. The only thing that's likely to need attention is making sure to use the keyboard to make selections instead of clicking with the mouse with the glitched quantity prompts.

I believe it should still work on ps5, though I personally only tested PC

How can i get alot of souls in the ps3 dark souls
For any console version of Dark Souls Remastered you should be able to use the method starting at 2:10 to dupe any of the souls that you have (a Soul of a Great Hero works great for this). If you need more soul items to do this glitch with you can also try looking into the item dupe using negative values (I have a link in this video's description if you're interested).
In the case of PS3, I don't think there is the remastered version so neither of the above glitches will help. You'll need to find versions that work with the Prepare to Die version of the game.
it works in ps5 just drop the wooden arrow 999 and then cancel and then do the glitch like he did

I don't think Dark Souls Remastered was released for the PS3. I'm sure the original and "Prepare to Die Edition" have similar glitches but it's unlikely to be exactly the same.

Yup! There's all sorts of combinations you can end up using throughout the navigation, which I find very interesting. I tend to find it more comfortable to keep using the controller throughout, but using the keyboard can work just as well.
@@keiferjh oddly when I first did it with controller it took a bit but when I tested for my buddy who only uses MnK it was a little easier
Interesting. I'm probably biased since I tried the controller method first and found it comfortable since I could then easily continue playing with controller. I'd probably think differently if I also played MnK but even without that it's a good bit personal preference. And luckily there are both options here.

I've tried a bit of MnK here and there in most of the games and also always come back to the controller. But hey, if it works it works.
As of march 15th, the menu will not allow you to use or drop items over 14 pieces. These options are crossed out.
Curious... It's still working for me on Steam version (App 1.03.1, regulation 1.04) and it's not like the game is actively getting patches for this type of stuff.
I wonder if this similar to being unable to drop items that are on your quick bar. That's the only time I've seen options similarly crossed out.

I cannot get the glitch to happen. I have everything except the quantity only goes as high as the amount I'm actually holding. So I use item on the broken menu, but I can't even select anything other than 1

Make sure you have any item with a lot of quantity, for example wooden arrows, they are cheap and you can get them early on, and make sure before you go to doing the trick you click on the wooden arrows and click drop, you do not have to drop them, then do not click on any other items and proceed to get the brightness screen with the item menu when you click on default with the item menu in the background it may not work, if in this case it does not work move the selection to the left and then back to default and try again, it should work
@@kinggyutaro Again, I do know the steps. I did them correctly. every single time except for one, the only numbers I could choose from were ones I actually was holding. However, I have got the glitch to work properly once now. I do not know why the quantity is being overridden.
@@Aaron-nt3pe You don't seem to be the only one, so there's likely a common thing that overwrites the quantity that's catching people. If you end up figuring out what that is definitely let us know, I'm sure it'll help others. Otherwise it sounds like you're on the right track and you understand the concepts. You're probably already doing it, but just be sure to minimize any unnecessary menuing or actions to reduce what could be messing up your stored value. I wish I had better advice but it's hard without seeing the actions and results.

Are you trying with a controller or mouse? It sounds like while navigating the "back" menu "Use Item" is not getting selected. You can tell which option is selected from the top left, even though it'll be overlayed with other text you should be able to make out the "U" from "Use Item". If you're using the controller setup that holds down for multiple inputs you may be holding it too long.

I cant get it to overlap ive been trying for 20 minutes
It is a bit hard to exactly describe the timing, so it does take a bit of trial and error. For me I had to try a bunch of timings even if they felt obviously too long or too short. One of the things that helped was also trying to vary the resting pressure I had on the inputs before pressing. If I would hold RB more loosely, for example, it would make the timing longer as there was more travel for the input to register.

There haven't been any updates so it should still work. Just did a quick check and it still works on PC on App ver. 1.03.1/Regulation ver. 1.04.
The biggest issue I've seen that isn't in the video is to make sure that the items you are using are not equipped or on the quick use bar. Other than that it's usually some other menu messing with the stored quantity before you finish the glitch.
Instructions are clear, but I suck and can't overlay the menus :|
Which system are you playing on? The timing can be quite odd to get used to and often I can't even tell which button I press first. Pressing inputs at the same time with a different amount of resting pressure to start works sometimes for me. With a bit of playing around and trying input timings that you don't think should work and you'll be able to get it eventually.

Congrats! It's a great game to play as intended at least once, but it's plenty of fun to mess around with the glitches too. They tend to open the door for plenty of fun shenanigans!
