Chorus:
Later I tried to call you
Your mama told me you weren't there
She told me don't bother to call again
Unless I cut off all my hair
I get so tired of sneakin' around
Just to get to your back door
I crawled past the garbage and
Your mama jumped out, screamin'
"Don't come back no more"

Eric Johnson’s solo is out of this world. Soulful, tasty and yet so technically wise.
Especially on that old Gibson...
He made that Lydian mode sang! #EricLegend
Huh?
Lolzzzz
Lolzz… Lydian mode , is soo many modes
These guys 1to 20 or more scale note Sort it out created
differntly and create new guitar solo….
Eric Johnson is sooo good. No special effects or any other theatrical moves on stage. Just simple distortion on the sound but he killed it with those tasty licks and incredible harmonics.
Who is the singer that not play?????
@asdfzxcv3617 Mike Keneally And if i'm not mistaken I believe he played with Frank Zappa Check Him out playing guitar with. Steve Vai The attitude song Live in concert Should not be hard to find. It is a definite watch and listen this guy is out of his mind Or you can just say like Mike k with steve v Attitude song blah blah you know how to do it check it out
@@Chrisopher-ki5bb Yeah, he's Him.
@@asdfzxcv3617 Good deal I hope you enjoy his madness
@@Chrisopher-ki5bb Yeah, it's great
I'm back to this song in 2020......
2022 again😎
@@theundead1600 hahaha....
You're 4 years late.
Easily one of the greatest moments in rock guitar history.... 3 legends playing the song of one of the masters.
Johnson's Solo is one of the best I ever heard !
Eric's solo on this is enough to bring a tear to your eye. As beautiful as it is incredible.
This concert was in Minneapolis in 1996, I was in the audience, it was awesome to see/hear these guys live.
The thing I love about the first G3 is they all played tastefully together and weren't trying to outdo each other. EJs is playing at his prime at this point and his solo is amazing as many have pointed out.
In my humble opinion, I think Vai's solo is the narrator thinking about how mad the parents make him, then Johnson's solo is the narrator meeting the parents, and Satch's solo is the parents thinking about how mad the narrator makes them.
Damn!
That’s an amazing analysis. I can totally see that. Damn, I love musicians.
Haha, I like that
I think I’ve replayed Eric Johnson’s solo at least 2000 times. I pull up this video whenever I need inspiration, and each time I pull it up, I cut to his solo lol. Still no closer to being able to play his solo myself, but I hope that someday he might do a video on how to play it because this has got to be one of the top ten most epic guitar solos ever played by anyone.
I know many others on this thread have said this, but I love EJ's playing in this and keep returning to this video for it. There's an otherworldly quality to his playing, his tone and his confidence. What a measured solo!
Arguably 3 of the top 10 guitarists ever on the same stage. What a show
This has got to be the best G3 ever!
I used to watch this all the time I hen I was a kid.
Not hearing this after 20 years is amazing! Thank you CZcams! Never knew that Vai and Keneally sang this.
This is the most I've seen Vai play something with emotion, and for EJ , no words !!
My absolute favorite G3 jam!!
I still absolutely love that these three played together. They are all so different but yet made amazing music. Their versions of these covers are excellent. I hope they tour again someday. That would be wonderful.
I would love so much to have Eric Johnson's guitar solo on this track isolated. Some of the coolest damn phrasing and tone I've ever heard. Reminds me of a badass undiscovered level on Sonic the hedgehog 3.
Coincido hermano es milimétrico el solo que mete no podría ser más justo y preciso.
3:24 how did I miss that hilarious part!!! 😂😂
Reference, the lyrics says "She told me not bother to call again,
Unless I cut off all of my hair!"
3:25 is the best part of the song where Mike points at Joe's head.
Eric had me at 2 seconds. Love em all man what a show!
Eric Johnson shredding on a 335 ....very cool
The bass is on point, aswell as these 3 Legends
I just heard the original bass line and it was ok - it worked well with the song.
Then I focused on this bass line
... and the WAY he played the notes. This is a badass bass line!
Stu Hamm is a Monster on Bass. You should check out his solo and he does Moonlight Sonata on bass and the Charlie Brown theme. He is amazing . He is in my top 3 of bass players.
@@Evl_1 Stuuuu!
@@Evl_1 Saw Stu with Satriani at a small church north of Santa Rosa back in '89. They were killin' it!!
@@supertwin1 that would have been amazing. I met Les Claypool and my 2nd would be Stu. I would have like to met Robert Trujillo before Metallica. Now afraid his head will be almost as big and Lars and James Ego and Lars Forehead. lol
I remember seeing Eric Johnsons's solo packaged in one of those "GUITARS SUCK" videos way back in the day, and it's just as mesmerizing today as it was back then. Eric loves using mixolydian and this backing track is perfectly welcoming for it, especially when he sneaks in some accidentals like at 2:17
3:05 - best entrance, 4:00 - best exit from stage, ever :)
Hell yeah
He's a character lol
@@Jamesfoofighter whats his name
@@jarviswhittaker128 MIke Keneally. he was the lead guitar player on FZ's last tour. Insane player. Look him up playing Inca Roads solo :)
@@AndreaAustoni he's a dancer ( not in the Crack the Sky sense;) and a hella guitar player
Anyone notice Vais perfect sweeps at 1:40? God like!
Erick Johnson is top
I remember hearing Eric's solo when I was a kid and at that point I made a decision and I bought my first guitar ever, having absolutely no idea what I was getting into. Turned out to be the best decision I ever made
IS TRUE!!!
Damn
The Electro Magnets..... Early 70's..... Got the muffs on......
No
I keep repeating playback this song for a years because of Eric Johnson improvisations, sweet licks and his sound on this G3 version.
Got to see this show in Memphis, I was completely blown away! G3 is a must see!!!
God bless you Steve Vai what a beast of a solo. The entire song is three virtuosos showing why they belong.
Who the hell could give an amazing cover of this a thumbs down?
i love satrianis shoes
Wow they fixed Steve's sound! In the old version of this it was gone. Amazing!
Now Eric's is gone!
The CD mix and solos are so much better.
Three of my all-time favorite guitarists, but Satch always takes it to the next level! 🤘
EJ is such a Mint King! Beautiful phrasing, not a party trick in sight! Such a humble demeanour but devastating musicality! Color me inspired :)
Total agree. Couldn't have worded that better myself
🤣 the Grandpa Keneally is in another league... Everytime is enjoying!
Satriani sure is the most coerent throughout the performances! would love to watch them live!
All three of them r absolute legend of guitars however Johnson's have that heavenly vibes in his solo ,,,no hard feelings 🙏
I love this song. And this performance of it my uncle peach, rip, loved zappa so much. I played this in his honor at my other uncles renewing of vows to my aunt. I even tried all the solos. Of course I couldn't hold a candle to these masters. So I just put my own style on each of the three. No one at the wedding got it, at all... lol. But the real star is the vocalist. Comes out of no where. Disappeared. Comes back. And walks off again
Steve and Joe great guitarists, Eric incredible musician !
Eric is a better guitarists than both of them.
Oooooh I still get a kick out of mr Johnson's solo here.
It's a lesson in patience in a shred a thon like this.
Beautiful as always.
I’ve seen all 3 separately but I’m so happy I have tickets to the G3 tour in Jan.😊
Cannot wait to see them in February!!!
Must remember where it really originated = The Maestro 🎸🎸🎸
WOW
One my top list of greatest guitar riffs ever written and these solos are top notch
Sem dúvidas um dos melhores G3 👏👏
i fucking love EJ's tone. so spot on
love dweezil's 80s version !
Yes!!
Jhonson with his solo is telling them "guys, no need to play million notes. Listen to this! Oh, and by the way I can play fast too if I want!"
The lesson for us all is to remember that we are all unique in how we play. If you want to be on stage with any of these cats you must play what you play, not try and be someone other than that. EJ plays like EJ. As do SV and Satch. Brilliant!
Yes, but he is playing a lot of notes too. OK, maybe he plays only thousands and not millions. :D
There are only 12 ;)
I’m sorry but EJ is a one riff wonder. Now, attack me!
@@joelbennett2759 well I never really heard his stuff but I guess at least he's still a "wonder"✌️
Best G3 song all time
the best G3!
It should be a crime to be so good... WOW!!
Mike at the end was like, "alright take it away guys".
I can't believe it has been already more than 25 years since this first line up 😮I'm soo old 😅 I remember, I once worked in an electronic appliance store, and I have this live concert CD. I played it in one of the cd player displayed there and before I know a lot of people gathered in that spot.. 😄
I think it’s great that a guitar can take one around the world and make a good living 😊
Such great playing. All three of these guys are aliens. They’re all brilliant, but I’m partial to EJ. One thing Vai and Satch have said is that EJ is not only an incredible soloist but he’s also one of the greatest rhythm players they’ve ever heard. Just isolate his guitar and hear how precise his rhythm is and how uniquely he voices the chords. He got that from playing with SRV when he was just a kid in Austin.
Das war ein super geiles Konzert, isr zwar schon ein paar Jahre her, aber kaum zu toppen. 🤗
Zappa would be soooo proud
Perfect vertion..!!!
My favourite version reminds me of my teenage years. I was that guy that listens to "unkown" talented musicians. People didnt get me lol
That dive bomb Satch plays at 2:59 is epic!
Thanks for upload!!
Love this strange but beautiful music
Increíble!!!
I really love the audio recording of this concert.
That was Steve Vai Singing With Mike Kennally?
Yes
Nice cover, anyone who plays Zappa gets some respect from me
This is an easy listening rock 'n' roll song by Zappa, not "The Black Page".
@@Minotauro_di_Chieti you are very special and knowledged
We get it
fantastic tribute to Zappa. all the artists at=re amazing in their solos
I knew when Steve walked towards the camera at the beginning it was gonna be awesome.
Melts my brain !!!!!!
Cool FZ tribute.
Joe ya Joe كبرنا معاك still listning to this special G3 consert till 2021 and forever !!!!
Frank Zappa is so proud!! Well done!!
No, he would want to throw a few wrench's in the works.
Satriani is cool...amazing solo
Also hats off to the backbone, percussion and bass are outstanding!!!
Killer no filler 🔥🔥🔥
3:25 LOL I guess Satch was accepted by the mom and dad immediately
That Bogner tone roaring in the opening Via riff!
F**king nailed it. ❤
Eric is Eric! Great guitar genious
The time keeper rocked it too.
Underbart som vi säger det!
Best trio on the planet!😏👍
These guys are awesome. Bonus any time you can get Steve to sing!
Que timbre fantastico Eric Jhonson tira de suas guitarras . e seu estilo de tocar
2020 baby
Man , Eric knocked it out of the park on that one.
man that is some great guitaring!
best. song. ever
4:21 vai 🥰🥰🥰
All three are amazing guitarists. The best in the world. Eric Johnson is my personal favorite, but no judgement if anyone prefers the Vai or Satriani. I can just tell you that it’s no easy task to play a solo like that on a 335. Plus, EJ is a great rhythm player.
Gods of Blues..
You don't have to see who's playing to know when it's E. Johnson. You hear those clean, buttery notes and it can only be him.
i had this cassette in 2001 and it is the first time i fell in love in electric guitar..... :) :)
Side dancer is the best 😁😁
Holy fuck!
i agree w/ all the ej comments, came here cuz of eric johnson, but i may be wrong, but i think joe set this up. props to him to put these 3 together, each of them brings a unique, yes, genius to the stage. but if i'm right, we never could have seen this without a maestro putting it together, if that is not joe, then whoever did it
Happy mother day !
They have the right guitarist on stage and Eric Johnson phenomenal
