- Whether he's performing in English, French, Hindi or Punjabi, Montreal comedian Sugar Sammy has found that poking fun at the things that separate us may actually be the secret to bringing audiences together. After becoming a stand-up comedy megastar in France, Sugar Sammy is back home touring across Canada with a new bilingual stand-up show called You're Gonna Rire Two. He sat down with Tom Power in the Q studio to talk all about it.

Stand up comedy sounds dangerous though.
In 1976, I stayed at the Gander Holiday Inn overnight on my way back to my job on Fogo Island. I went to the bar and ordered a Molson's Ex. The bartender looked at me sharply and said, "What part of the Mainland are you from?" Was it my accent or was it the beer that tipped him off? I think it was the brand of beer because lots of Newfoundlanders speak Canadian English now. I can relate to Power's comment about calling a Dominion story Loblaw's, although from another video where the videographer is touring a Newfoundland Dominion, it's very obvious that the Dominion stores in Newfoundland are now owned by Loblaw's. An easy mistake to make.
