    I have seen right now this video. The squeak problem is less in this last version but still exist. A few days I had a meeting with the chemists that invented this marvelous bioplastic: they told me that there is still space to fix the problem of the squeak. Thank you again (Mimmo Peruffo, Aquilastrings owner & founder)

      Hi Mimmo, great to see you here. I tried using a bit of talcum powder on my fingers before playing and that helped a lot with the squeak noises. I am currently recovering from Covid but in the next few days I’m going to make a recording of Sor’s variations on Mozart, using your strings!

      thanks. Covid? I hope no big problem. I had it one year ago but no so hard. Thanks for your video; however my mission is to do everything in order to fix this problem, as I never heard a so beautiful material. Take care! Greetings this rainy Italy.@@doctor7music91

      Unfortunately I've got the same problem too. Just bought a new set your sugar strings. Looks great. Sounds very interesting. The texture is amazing, really love it. More grip than nylegut and I don't have to sand the string as classic nylon.
      But the squeak is massive. I can play like on violin. Pinching the string between my fingers and moving them, or even just placing the back of my nail on a string. It also seems like plastic has direction, like a hair. It squeaks in one direction more than the other. I like how you guys keep inventing and experimenting with different compounds. Really. That's great. But please, test your products in different scenarios. I can make the squeak to go away if I oil my fingers, but I'd rather not carry hand lotion with me every time. Looking forward for your announcement that you've changed the formula to really not squeaky one. Until then I'll stick with alabastro set for the feel

    Nice review Doctor 7, thanks for posting this. Being a fan of Aquila products, I was intrigued as well with those sugar strings. I found them extremely clear but unfortunately there was some serious intonation issues with b and e strings.

    • @doctor7music91
      @doctor7music91  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Oh really? I will keep an eye on the intonation, but since they are still settling I think I need to let them stabilise and will check from time to time. I haven’t had the time to play them for more than 2 hours in total since I put them in.

    just rec'd two sets of these strings and absolutely love the sound. Only problem is (and note I am not a professional player) is that my high E string broke quickly but luckily it broke off near the bridge while tuning up and I had enough left to still use the string. They do settle nicely. I also have a set on another guitar that were not listed as squeakless but after a few days the squeak went away. I will add that I started winding with a lot more slack than you mentioned was necessary by the manufacturer. I just hope they don't break in the middle of performance. That would really be a game changer for me. But so far I absolutely love the volume, the sound, and the feel. These strings sound so beautiful but Im sure most of that is due to your playing. Thank you so much.

      My pleasure, but I need to find time to do a follow up. The B string almost broke on me, having two tears in different areas and it was a matter of hours or a few days until it would break. Luckily I spotted that and removed the strings. They sound good but the sugar strings are prone to break unfortunately… hope it doesn’t happen to you!

      @@doctor7music91 update. I "never have problems with string breakage. Not so with these. I love the sound and have even had comments made out awesome they sound. Won't purchase again. My high E string had a tear so I cut it off at the tear and still it broke after a few hours. Second set had a tear in the high E string again, cut it off near the tear and the new string broke. NAW that's a game changer.

      If your guitar has a French Polish finish, I would recommend leaving a small towel between the strings and the top while the guitar is in the case, as these strings suffer from early breakage. Also, to reduce the squeak, use some talcum powder on your fingers.

    Aquila are generally excellent. The Sugar are powerful and clear, but I think the high e is a bit too bright. A little bit of lotion on the RH fingertips will get rid of the squeak.

      Thanks, I thought about something like baby powder to reduce noise but haven’t tried yet. What lotion did you use?

    Thank you for this review, Francisco! 🙏
    II also play the H815 strings as standard. But I still have one question: how do the Sugar Strings taste? If you're not happy with them, can you at least eat it?😂

    • @doctor7music91
      @doctor7music91  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hi Stefan, hahaha, as I said in the video, I don't think they are edible, but it would have been really cool if they were. Can you imagine doing that on stage? It would have made a bigger impact than Hendrix burning his guitar, LOL!

    Listening to these both, the Hannabach is more beautiful, and has a deep and complex classical sound, but the sugar has much better separation and projection. It seems easier on the sugars to bring out a melody as well. Overall, I prefer the sugar strings.

    • @doctor7music91
      @doctor7music91  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Totally agree with your comments! The Hannabach has that sound you hear on classic recordings, while the Aquila sounds more like a hi-fi and modern recording perhaps, with more clarity and string separation.

    Well, should have watched the video before buying. Now im not sure i want to restring my guitar from perfectly playable nylegut. Rob Mackillop did review 5years ago and told they were great... Guess I'll have to see for myself.
    Btw
    I have so sweaty hands that normal polished nylon squeaks under me. But not nylegut

      Give them a try, but I encourage you to keep a fabric under the strings when you put the guitar inside the case, to prevent damage to the top in case of string breakage. The strings have a powerful and bright sound, so you might like them.

    The squeak in your set is almost bearable. In my case it was very extreme czcams.com/video/9te04CzTCuw/video.html
    I have no idea why they are advertised as squeakless. The issue that they introduced with those strings never existed in nylon strings in the first place. It's surreal.

    you are a good player, but there is a lot of tension on your right hand. just look at you right hand pinky. if you work on releasing that tension, you'll be much better.

    • @doctor7music91
      @doctor7music91  Před 7 měsíci

      Hi Louis, I have heard that comment about my pinky many times but as much as I try, I can’t avoid it. However, it happens with many activities in my life outside of playing guitar and is an automatic movement in a way, like typing with a keyboard as I am doing now… there are other famous players with the exact same thing, like Vicente Amigo (flamenco).

    the squeaking was unbearable. Total waste of money!

    • @doctor7music91
      @doctor7music91  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I know… but with a bit of talcum powder, the squeak was gone, but most importantly, these are prone to breakage. I will post a follow up video about that. I don’t think the sugar strings are ready yet, despite the great idea. I still keep the red basses though.
