My final Dark Souls speedrun tutorial is here. I only planned on going back to play the games again on two conditions: FromSoft makes a new Dark Souls style game or they make a boss rush. Well thanks to reddit user PascaltheAnalyst we've been gifted a boss rush!!! Within the video is a speedrun tutorial. Pontiff is easy. You parry the opener and then stay right in front of him. With this position, there's 2 possibilities either he side-step and then slash attack, in which case you can easily parry him, or he does a poke, which you have to roll backwards and then you can parry his second attack which is another slash attack. That's it. You learn how to parry only 2 of his attacks and it's easy game.

No, the Bed Of Chaos is the pinnacle of boss design. Remember how (sarcastically) amazing it was.
And that they could have explored the boss more, like have the thing inside it come out of the tree in ng+ forward.
Same with some other bosses, maybe even replacing some for some stronger boss, like the new boss ambushes the old boss when you reach them and the fight starts...It WOULD be interesting. Some games did that already, did they not?

Great wood mostly suffers from being too big imo, and he's some annoying moves that make you keep your distance, but I think if you improved on that it would be a fine boss, it's worth that initial encounter to me, mightnt be fun on repeat playthroughs but your first adventure should be the most important anyway

47reload if possible play ds 2/ds1 As ds1 teachs you not to be greedy (and the magic of parry/backstabs) and ds2 teachs you that no matter how annoying a game seems it will never be as annoying as the lava pit boss

Hey Demod, for Cinder's delayed slash that you mentioned at 41:28, I've found that if you dodge backwards, you'll normally be too far away from him for the attack to hit even if you roll too early. If you're standing right next to him before the roll, you'll still get hit, but if there's even a small amount of space, you can get away. I did this on my SL1 run because I kept getting wrecked by that attack, and this made it so I didn't have to predict whether I would get the fast attack or the slow one. The downside is it's really tough to punish if you roll backwards, which hurts in a speed run. It could help if you're actually getting killed because of the attack though.
That's a great tip! I usually try to stay in close when dodging so I can follow up with an attack of my own, but if I can't pull of the dodge it's certainly better than taking a hit. Thanks!

Can someone explain how he’s downing these bosses at such a low level so quickly... that would be great
One you have the twinsword with sharp infuse the rest is a joke just put dex and is easy game
The first 2 bosses are cheesy and require 0 stat investment to kill easily. The next few he leveled up DEX to 33 and upgraded his sharp infused Sellswords to +7. Sharp weapons scale off of DEX and his was 33 and the bosses he's fight thereafter are not meant to be fought at such a high level and once he levels up more and upgrades more as well as buffs with bundles/resins, he starts outputting massive damage.

He gets 33 DEX, a sharp gem and a plus 7 weapon within a couple of minutes - you'd generally have this kind of gear around the profaned capital.
The first couple of bosses are deliberately ordered so that a decent weapon is not needed, so you can farm souls on them.

Champion Gundyr is my favorite boss fight. I don’t use shields so it’s just a game of dodging and if you dodge him correctly it’s a hell of a lot of fun. It’s like a dance. Admittedly he pretty easy but fun none-the-less

hey dmod! the attack the dancer does at 15:00 with the black cloudy stuff, you can roll through that if you time it properly. It doesn't save you that much time but it does speed up the fight a bit.

About those weird Midir attacks you were wondering about: I think it's just his follow-ups that confuse you. Some of his attacks change their follow-ups dependent on how far away you are, where he can follow up with either flame or melee. It threw me off for a while as well because, once you start anticipating the flame breaths and stay close to punish them, he will suddenly stop doing them because you're too close to trigger them.

41:59 the Lance form most likely has more poise because some lances/Spears do that such as the lothric Knight longspear.

Agreed. Soul of Cinder is weird. It can be staggered to death by the Demon Fists though. If you keep spamming L1 and tank the hits he will keep dropping to the floor.

About Berserk - it's really good, golden age is graet, black swordsman arc is a bit worse, but still good, but once he dets the berserker armor - ohhh mann. Pure awesomeness. Though I recommend watching this scene animated, since the spins were nicely animated

I dabbled a bit in doing a speedrun of DS1, but there's a lot of tricky skips involved that made me hesitate. I may go back to it and try again in the future.

Look, I really Love Friede.. But the moment I set my eyes upon Greatwood.. It was just meant to be, I believe
with the soul of cinder if you want to get an easy kill dodge and attack through his starting phase then when e switches to magic just keep hitting him i was able to get him to just over the point of death with this (I know it will not always switch to the magic phase)
Cinders staggers is based of consecutive hits so every 5-6 within 4 seconds staggers
Friede's the only boss I would consider myself an "expert" on in Dark Souls 3, and that gives me a couple of pieces of insight into phenomena you experienced.
First, the game usually unlocks you automatically when you backstab Friede for some reason, so I don't think you actually did so manually at 29:40.
Second, if they both melee you in phase 2, it can be a serious problem, BUT if they actually stand on top of each other, like they did for you, the fight always becomes much easier because you staggerlock Friede while already standing in Ariandel's safe spot and safely damage them twice as fast. Both of them are also incredibly weak to bleed. Once in NG+ I passed phase 2 in about fifteen seconds with sharp crow talons and carthus rouge, just spamming the weapon art while they were stacked up like that and bleeding each of them twice. If you got that kind of RNG in NG it would obviously be even faster since they'd have less health, though probably not much faster since a significant portion of the damage comes from bleed bursts regardless.

Is there an option to scale HP and souls based on the order? I get its a speedrun, but for casual play, getting that many souls from wyvern early seems broken.
Getting wyvern done early though also seems nice.
Soul of Cinder will reset his stagger if it's the first time you change stages so each stage sword, faith, pyro, mage if it's his first time entering that stage it resets his stagger. If he has been through that stage once before it doesn't reset. If you get the stagger hit while he is changing between stages he won't be staggered and it will reset his stagger. He also has one of the shortest recovery times of any boss so most bosses you have to hit them x number of times to stagger and unless you fully run away and heal and don't engage you don't have to worry about the stagger resetting. Cinder resets very quickly if you heal and buff your weapon than his stagger will most likely reset. That being said Cinder stagger is straight up not perfect, so try to stop dps if Cinder is about to change stances if you know 7 hits staggers than do 6 let him transform and do the 7th because sometimes he doesn't reset like he should or you can take advantage of his stance change to dps and lose stagger for sure it's really dependent on when your stagger is coming up.
