  • If you buy your own health insurance - meaning you don't get your coverage through an employer or a program like Medicare or Medicaid you may be in the market for an Affordable Care Act (or ACA) plan.
More Americans than ever have been enrolling in ACA plans (also called Obamacare), thanks to recent legislation that made these plans more affordable.
Under the American Rescue Plan millions of Americans are now eligible for health insurance subsidies that help pay for their coverage.
For many, the legislation increased the amount they can save!
Even if you didn't qualify previously, you may now!
But, as with most health insurance, sign-up for ACA plans is limited to an annual enrollment window. ACA open enrollment runs from November 1st through January 15th in most states But enrollment deadlines vary by state,
so be sure to check your state's marketplace deadline at healthinsurance.org.
It's important to compare plans during open enrollment because health plans - and how much they cost - change from year to year.
And this year, there are more savings than ever.
If you don't compare plans or check whether you qualify for a subsidy, you may be leaving money on the table.
To see how much you can save, visit your state's marketplace. Or use the subsidy calculator at healthinsurance.org.
For most Americans, open enrollment is the only chance to enroll in an ACA plan without a qualifying life event. Qualifying life events include - but are not limited to - losing employer-sponsored coverage, having a baby or adopting a child, marriage or divorce or making a permanent move.
