- 'Running To The Sea' and 'Something In My Heart' are in essence both expressions of compulsion and its strong, often uncontrollable, persisting pull. Dependence is a returning theme in our music
-B+B
'Running To The Sea' features stunning vocals by the platinum-selling Norwegian artist Susanne Sundfør, and this epic, sweeping track glistens with moving beauty.
The equally elegant singing on b-side 'Something In My Heart' - a melancholy, synth hybrid - is provided by Jamie of cult orchestral pop ensemble The Irrepressibles.

I listen to this and one person immediately comes to mind. I was young, stupid, and gave her up before I realized who I actually had. She left and I have spent 16 years missing her. Wondering what might have been. There have been other loves. But some people, you spend the rest of your life missing.
It's been a couple of years for me, and I can relate to that. Worse thing is, she does too. But there's nothing to be done about it.
Sometimes it feels like it'll never go away...
How I feel about my dog.
Holy Fuck... i'm also very familiar with this sentiment.and i bet the vast majority of ppl that searched this song are like us
Same thing happened to me. She wanted to be with me, but I had to find myself first. I was afraid and confused. And it took too long. I lost her. I found myself but then lost almost everything in the process.
@@imtryinghere1 I'm guessing none of you is dead yet.
Go.
The best thing about Royksopp is their originality. Everything they drop is fresh and alternative, but always so melodically strong and emotive. They are pioneers of modern electronica. This is absolutely sublime.
+Adrian Rawling Just next level! They're always two heads above the rest
Oof!
No two songs are alike. They are top of the tree.
Running to the sea sounds incredibly generic ☝️
Adrian Rawling I agree they are emotive and Devine , however they are standing on others shoulders when it comes to electronic music... Laurie Anderson comes to mind, one of many..
I think this song fills the cracks of a broken heart with gold.
thats right :)
Awesome comment
Beautiful thing to say❤️
Auditory Kintsugi
Indeed, well said, lifts your wounded soul to the stars.
You say that time can't heal
The broken heart you stole
I don't know what's real
You are what I can't be
You are what I can't be
You say that time can't heal
The broken heart you stole
I don't know what's real
You are what I can't feel
You are what I can't feel
Oh, something in my heart
Something in my heart
Makes me miss you more
Oh, something in my heart
Something in my heart
Makes me miss you more
Say that time can't heal
The broken heart you stole
I don't know what's real
I don't know what's real
You are what I can't feel
Oh something in my heart
Something in my heart
Makes me miss you more
Oh oh oh
Something in my heart
Something in my heart
Makes me miss you more
Oh oh oh
Something in my heart
Something in my heart
Makes me miss you more
Oh oh oh
Something in my heart
Still you're in my heart
Makes me miss you more
Oh oh oh
Ooh, ooh
Something in my heart
Something in my heart
Makes me miss you more
Oh, something in my heart
Something in my heart
Makes me miss you more
Oh, something in my heart
Still you're in my heart
Makes me miss you more
Oh, something in my heart
Still you're in my heart
Makes me miss you more
Oh, something in my heart
Still you're in my heart
Makes me miss you more
For my mom.

Knowing when to walk away even with a broken heart and believing in time you will heal......that’s real!

I've loved Royksopp for years. The Inevitable End is something else. But this song is top notch. Yer man's voice nearly breaking with desperate emotion, the warmth of the synth. Jesus, beautiful!
@Peter Lumley stay with them Peter ❤
This is one of the most perfect tracks I've heard in my almost 27 years.
I thought I would be alone for thinking this. It's sensational.
I can't count how many times I've listened to it by now.
Zdravo, Cvijiću, pozeru i secikeso.
Zdravo, Radoviću, ljubavi moja najveća i divni čoveče :*
Your welcome, we both are 31/32 now!! ;)
how about now?
It seems like Röyksopp have the code to break my soul in a thousand pieces with every note, every word in every song. Anyway, the years goes by and I still love them. .
😇😇😇
I couldn't agree more, very beautifully put
какие классные слова! ты почувствовал, что я чувствую в душе!
This song touches 'something in my heart'...

Absolutely & by adding it, I can listen to this awesome song 100 times consecutively..
Do you believe that it is OK for the Scottish government to pay up to £80,000.00 GBP to survivors of child sexual assault and tell us to keep quiet and don't bring any legal actions against your abusers? If you believe it is wrong and will as I believe allow these offenders and their institutions to continue to sexually abuse children and vulnerable adults, will you share this information with others to help stop this financial redress bill from being passed in the scottish parliament? What is important for victims survivors and mothers fathers and all other relatives is in the link after the youtube video link of me speaking to my MSP on his answering machine. czcams.com/video/isYVp68Inhg/video.html www.parliament.scot/parliamentarybusiness/CurrentCommittees/115852.aspx#:~:text=The%20Bill%20was%20introduced%20on%2013%20August%202020.,can%20be%20paid%20to%20their%20partner%20or%20children.

Jamie Irrepressible your voice is sublime!!! Royksopp's music is just perfect!
Cheers 🎉
*You are what I can't feel*
That's a powerful lyric.
When he goes "ooooohh" before the ref. I melt down
Something about the sweet vibrato of his voice near the end of each sentence he signs ... it vibrates a bit in such a way that makes me shiver with emotion! I can't describe it.
Exactly
I am not the only one listening to royskopp, I am happy :D
You’ve arrived to the party a wee bit late!
But..... better late than never🤷♂️
WELCOME & ENJOY🙏
Monument, sordid affair, skulls, running to the sea, Leno ( few of my fav’s)

I'm so in love with this song♥
+Ievablaublau I am too
+Jo Po pop music lol
+Ievablaublau It's amazing the crap that passes as music these days.
SubMachine1000 I'd say the exact same too the garbage you listen too 😆😃😄
Close your mouth, you do not understand anything.......
One of the most underrated and underevaluated electronic music bands today....
This song gets better with each listen 🔥
Whatever music you guys make just goes through my mind and soul, you guys are in a genre of your own. I'm pretty sure people 100 years from now will have Royksopp genre!
maybe give credit to Enigma and Delerium First ??
Khullaa Saand yeah man, it goes straight to my soul and revives it...!
Sandi Grigg actually you can thank The Electric Light Orchestra..
mr Turner hih
hi.....
This song is one of those songs that just stays in your memory, forever. 💞👌😊👍
I can't put this emotions in words but this is the best song I've ever heard. Deep melancholy and sadness
Jamie's voice is simply stunning. I can't stop listening to this!
He is Irrepressible.
Jamie's voice is smooth like silk! melts my heart!
We've been with my gf for 5 years together. And now it's over. This song make me feel sad and happy at the same time. Thank you Royksopp!
This band are incapable of mediocrity. They imbue everything they do with absolute class, total musicality and an inspired knowledge of what it takes to stir the soul of anyone with the ability to actually 'listen' to music. Geniuses, time and again!
scottlp2323 completely agree
scottlp2323 "incapable of mediocrity" i love that.
I once walked past them and I was so starstruck lol
This song truly hits on a different level. In a way that few songs struggle to achieve. With the uncontemporary beats and extremely unique voice. It's what brings me back time and time again. Tonight, to comment, all these years later. Who else is with me reminiscing on the "good times" that literally feel like yesterday. For someone as young as I am, it feels especially strange to say about...
I have a broken heart in 2020 and the only thing that holds it together is the love that others have for the others they miss or desire in their hearts. I am both sorry for you all and inspired for your persistence. May you find the love and joy that you deserve.
Mesmerizing vibrato.
Ooooh Ooooh Ooooh
Something in my heart
Something in my heart
Still you're in my heart
I needed to hear this, at this very moment in time. Wow. Incredible. Powerful. Perfection.
you're fine :)
Ally White I know what you mean, it's like Wow, my heart burst upon the sun with great vision and reality set in..
I 100% relate to that!!! Timing is beautiful and powerful.

this song is crazy good
This is pure love

Tusen takk Röyksopp
guys, thank you for the soundtrack for my life :)
I LOVE YOU! Röyksopp Forever!!
From Italy!
eine Liebeserklärung aus der tiefsten Seele, ich weine weil ich mich so unglaublich glücklich fühle, danke Royksopp für diesrn Song!❤👌😘
The emotion, the desperation is so pure, right through heart and soul
I was listening to that song near 7 years back, and finally i found it again. I had no idea this is royksopp, but i discoverd it by the voice of the singer. As i remember its specific trembling
I love this song, but it's making me depressed. Sad songs are always the best, lyrically and the best at conveying emotions.
+Ronald Thomas You look depressed. Probably just your natural state.
SubMachine1000 It really is just kinda how I look in pictures.
+Ronald Thomas I like how you look in pictures/your natural state
Sonia Skooglund Thank you!
i agree. the song is rather surreal than sad. it tends to sadness, but if you see only sadness, its rather you thats sad ;)
this song is more a meditation than any particular story.
Still feel the same after 8 years, same vibe...
This is perfect
omg me to
Listen to Red Sky by Thrice. They completely ripped their verse. This isn't original
Hello, sorry to bother you, but to be honest, we haven't met before. I found your profile here and I kind of like your sense of reasoning,I hope you don't mind me knowing you more?
out of the ordinary, out of this world!
Love this song, truly. Emotion at its core, burning....
My boyfriend suggested me this song back when he just started liking me, from then this song has became so close to My heart. The lyrics cried out his feelings for me. And now we are getting married ❤
That's actually really beautiful 😁
these guys are legends
I cannot help but to feel so deeply touched when listening to this, on the verge of crying
Just speachless , im not able to describe what i feel when i listen to this
song analysis:
slow, but irregular bass - relaxing the heart, but not quite, since it skips everyone now and thensteady, wavelike midtones that have a spinning, hypnotic, pressing, quality to themhigh pitch that lightly accentuates the soft excitement in the baselinedreamlike surreal vocals that is hard to pin down if male or female alliding to mystery, just has a relaxed strength to itsurreal additional effects, playing with the subconcious, relaxed atmosphere set up by the restlyrics: minimal, surreal, fractioned, more painting pictures than telling a story
overall a very dreamlike, sad, but also hopeful mix that pulls you in, but not down.
thanks guys, great work!
sorry, forgot the chorus:
an awakening of sorts that evoke a sensation of enlightenment. feels positive, when in fact its the saddest part :)
awesome!
+oooodaxteroooo amazing analysis, mind if i quote you in my facebook?
+oooodaxteroooo Good grief, impressive, it was wonderful reading that! This is reminiscent of a strain of early eighties pop in Britian, the pace and synths, vocals too; if you don't know of that type of music already have a dig around, you may like some of it.
+Jackie Cottrell i'd love to hear some recommended bands that fit this early 80s British pop you speak of.
geenatron
Hi there, well i'll give a general picture of the scene so you can have fun with CZcams, some of this stuff you may have even heard of before, if you really like it then hopefully my info will help you to dig further into more obscure stuff:)
It was known as Synth-Pop, became prominent in the UK from 1980 till '84, singers sounded like Bowie or Bryan Ferry of Roxy Music a lot of the time, as these artists influence was obvious.
Very early leanings from 1974 has to be Sparks, an American Duo which had more success over here, different from the Brit '80's stuff but i will put it out there:)
Two songs you may like is Icehouse - Hey Little Girl from 1982, from Australia but with that English sound as the singer sounded a lot like David Sylvian from Japan, himself sounding like Ferry; and Split Enz - I Got You, synths galore:)
Then there's the glorious Enola Gay from Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark or OMD for short; albums were good too. Ultravox, their well known hit was Vienna, try John Foxx the orignal member of Ultravox before Midge Ure with his hit Underpass, a great record.
Listen to The Model, a single by Kraftwerk from 1974, VERY ahead of it's time.
You may like Fade To Grey by Visage, then there's the aforementioned Japan, Tears for Fears, whose Mad World was the original, Bronski Beat, their hit Smalltown Boy was very moving, the excellent Talk Talk, Soft Cell, Pet Shop Boys, and New Order, who renamed themselves from Joy Division after the suicide of THEIR lead singer, Ian Curtis. Lastly, Human League. But there are lots more.
If you're not familiar at all with this style of Music, then after hearing some of the above suggestions you will understand why i likened it to that era, Synths, pace and vocal style is very reminiscent of that time. No doubt by design as well:)
See how you get on with that lot and please come back and tell me how you got on. I hope i helped:)
So much bass!Oh my gush!İm in love with this music...
I can't stop listening to this!
Exactly
I feel like music like this is the music of our generation. The 60's had brit pop and the mod scene, the 70's had the hippy scene, 80's had glam rock and experimental synth music, of course the 90's had Grunge, and I feel like music like this is just the future. The experimental elements of music today draw upon older influences but go a step further and transform it into something entirely new and different. Musicians like these guys and EDEN really define a whole new musical scene if not genre. Great stuff.
Totally agree ,I,m 63 , just been looking for something new ,amazing music , I grew up with Tangerine Dream ,check them out !
Royksopp, Ive been listening to you for so many years. and I cry everytime I hear you.
I would love to inject this song directly into my veins.
Put a pair of really good headphones on (not the button thingies) and be drugged ;)
I'm an athlete, drugs are not an option.
Judo Jenkins it's called morphine
Music in your veins doesn't show up in a blood sample...
Maybe our hearts arent beating at all, we could just have music in our blood ^-^
one my most favourite Røyksopp songs ever. the electronica/keyboards is so good! and the vocals of this guy gives me goosebumps
If one has ever been married and in love. Then divorced. And if you are being honest....... This track HAS touched your Core.
Royksopp are genuises!
This song makes my soul smile.
When I listen to this song i feel like i should've had memories with someone,whereas I haven't any 💔
Love this beat. So perfectly mellow and trancy.
Jamie and Royksopp ...My two music loves..
A longing in my Soul - asking for a connection and here this song appears - Soulgasmic ✨
Hello, sorry to bother you, but to be honest, we haven't met before. I found your profile here and I kind of like your sense of reasoning,I hope you don't mind me knowing you more?
I turned this on when I was sad, and it's oddly soothing
True
Masterpiece. This will always be one of my faves. Please do more collabs with Jamie Irrepressible, Royksopp! ❤
this song clears my minds every deep corners from all bad feelings
flawless perfection❤❤❤ nothing else to say
This will go down so well with the movie Drive.
Damn this song can make any night drive a grand voyage. Brilliant.
I hope Jamie and Royksopp work together for a VERY long time!!!
Royksopp already released what they say is their final album, so seems semi unlikely. Check out conjure one and above and beyond if you're unfamiliar, both utilize several great vocalists.
Last album yes, but not last music. They've just come out with new music. Check it out. :) I was mistaken as well, thought they quit all together..but nope. Glad i was mistaken cos it really gave me a downer when it thought they'd quit.
A masterpiece, original, rythm, touchy !!!
Such an incredible song!
Just another great Royksopp song
Juste magnifique.
Amazing Royksopp ❤️❤️
What an incredible sound
Клёво. Давно такой душевной музыки и песни не слышал. Молодцы!
Royksopp i love your new stuff, & old. Alison goldfapp has been a huge influence in my music, now your collaborative gold has made me feel connected more

PERFECT!!!! I WANT A NEW CD OF YOU GUYS!!
I'm experiencing one of the most painful heartbreaks I have ever known. This song... it just captures everything I feel perfectly...
It's bittersweet. The song is beautiful, but I only wish it did not resonate. I am hurt.
Hi, I feel you! I'm living the same experience right now. I hope you feel better now. 🙏💞
@@l.u.n.i.t.a. hello, yes infinitely better now. It hasn't left me and I still have bad days, but it isn't ruling me now. I couldn't listen to this song again rn though, would remind me. I had to pause instantly upon opening this to reply 😂 but yes, much better now. Like most things, it does get easier with time

Røyksopp are King...loved them from the beginning and can't believe they are still making iconic, haunting classics...as for Jamie Irrepressible's vocal, I find it even more haunting...more please!

One of the GREAT ones in recent years!
This song is something in my heart
Just can't stop listening. Beautiful!
People should dare to speak up when there's something in their hearts, otherwise what they could get as a prize will just pass them by, and maybe miss out on something that can be life changing, in a wonderful way....
Amén
Yes that is true, but they could also get burned...it's a tough choice. One hand you could get the "prize" as you put it and on the other...well sometimes its better not to know.
+Andrew Taylor , can you go through life with the weight of that "what if" on your shoulders? I'm one of those and it's...unpleasant, I can tell you..
+Larisa David I can imagine that it's unpleasant, but I'd rather go through life with the "what if" instead of saying what's in your heart, only to find it not work out as you thought it would, because "you got on so well" and then knowing you can't or never will be with the one person you love, putting on a straight face every time you see them, pretending everything is fine. Even though inside you're dying. So yes as unpleasant as it might be,I'd rather have the "what if" weight...
I've played this track million times. Thanks Royksopp to make such an amazing track. I LUV U
Royksopp is freaking addictive!
Que hermosa canción!
What a beautiful song!
