    Nice system, except it seems like it would make more sense to add additional width to your arches & tarp so you could install the system on the outside edge of each container. This would solve the issue you are going to run into where the rain/snow melt water from the tarp & on top of each container is going to run down between the 2 containers. Plus you would also gain covered storage area on top of each container.

    • @kkarllwt
      @kkarllwt Před 4 lety +2

      With 4 containers you could. You would give up 8 feet of width between containers.

    • @nerys71
      @nerys71 Před 4 lety +2

      @@kkarllwt 16ft. 8 ft each side. you would have 4ft left between then or they would have to make the kit 16ft wider. IE double the price.
      easier just shove some expanding foam under the "runners" on each side. this way you form a full 40ft length "damn" and the water is forced outwards instead of inwards.

    • @AircreteHarry
      @AircreteHarry  Před 2 lety +3

      Those shipping containers are set-up at a 2° angle to the side and towards the back for the water to run off the back.

    These container shelters domes are used extensively here in Australia , they can come in almost any height or width between containers and mounting methods. They can even come with rear end wall and doors. They don’t always have to mounted on shipping containers either. They are extremely durable and most manufacturers will offer a 10 year warranty on the fabric. They are very good for temporary workstation applications. If the containers are mounted at a 1-2 degree angle leaning away from each other , you don’t really have a water issue running down the inside , unless there is no end walls and the rain is coming in sideways. A small scissor lift is best to use for lifting the roof bows and installing the ties and end bracings. I don’t think they come with a snow loading as a general rule. As they are all different . This would have to be quantified and certified by an engineer for each particular dome shelter.

      you can say that twice and mean it!!! We what to help with friends put up a 32x100 ft plastic on a greenhouse in Kansas we joked about their windbreak that was the Rockies :-) LOL so I kept telling him the gentleman we can just throw up in here and the window carried over right now if they wanted to wait till two other people got there so they wait until two other people got there and the wind was 30 to 40 miles an hour and it says do not try this in the high wind cuz it could be severe injury and death could result so we did it anyway but it about took me off my feet... and I'm 250#!!!

    add T111 grooved plywood around the outside after you stain both sides of the plywood boards to water proof them.. add some carefully designed 2x 4 cut down to 2x3 screwed right to the side so it looks like windows. and doors.. paint the phony windows centers dark and the phony doors dark also.. now you have deceived the locals who complain that you have a bunch of old ugly containers on your property... it looks like a nice building with windows.. those rusty areas on top really need some needle scaling and some kind of treatment to prevent additional rusting.. then coat the roofs with one of the white rubber roof paint.. if you get some tinted by the manufacturer that matches the desert dirt color.. the containers could actually vanish from the top.. if you stand back from the containers about 100 yards and photograph them with the horizon and sky... paint the T111 or just the bare container sky blue that matches the sky.. do this to the upper 2/3rds of the container.. paint the lower 1/3 in overlapping circles or waves that match the plant colors.. hide them in plain sight..

    your voice recording is pretty bad. the volume changes when you speak away from the recording camera or near it. you have the wind in the background and your voice is even softer. best is to wear a microphone for the person who is speaking so that the voice can be picked up and recorded properly. the music in the back ground is too loud and is distracting.
    overall, i like your video... very interesting. keep it up.. will continue to watch your videos... 👍👍👍

    Great video. I just checked with Celine on these covers and they said the covers last an average of 3 to 5 years before starting to fall apart. I like the idea but I need something much more permanent for my RV and Boat storage. I may just try stacking 2 containers on top of each other and building a tin roof on that to get my 14+ feet of overhead clearance. I've also been looking at building a, (used telephone pole), pole barn with a tin roof. Im wanting to go 40 wide by 80 or 120 deep and then pour slabs inside to make a solid floor to work on so the pole barn idea looks more promising.

    Harry what would you like about a container house with grid wire on the outside (like stucco)... then aircrete over that?! Aircrete would add the insulation value but would look more like a traditional home to get more people interested in this? Built very similar to your shop with end walls framed out with steel studs. This could be a fast way to build also. Would cost a little more I would guess.

    Why not attach the pipe down with the ratchet straps and THEN put the fabric on with wiggle wire, the best way to attach it?
    Now it has a bunch of weak places for wind to begin tearing it.... and water to leak on to cause corrosion on the ratchets, joints etc.

    nice vid Mr and Mrs Aircrete. One thing I noticed, The two fingered salute you give actually means "F**K OFF" in the UK. It's also known as "bow fingers" as the French Knights threatened to cut off the bow fingers of the English bowmen at Agincourt. Winston Churchill turned his hand palm forward for "Victory" but sometimes forgot....perhaps.
