    There's nothing like getting out and exploring the wilderness on an old classic Honda trail bike. We parked the car in Ukiah and rode the bikes across the mountain to the California Coast and then up Hwy 1 to the beginning of the Lost Coast Trail. Amazing scenery and wildlife! Beautiful place to camp if you don't mind rustic. A fantastic way to spend 3 days with my awesome son!

    I grew up in Ukiah in the 50's & 60's. My high school friends and I did that same trip on our Honda CL90's many times. Those little Honda's were then and still are to this day great machines. It's no wonder that Honda has built bikes on that same power plant for going on 60 years.

The new Hunter Cub seems over priced at 4 to 4.5 k. We used to have a bumper carrier, that bolted to one of those chrome bumpers you never see anymore. I cloud get it on there myself by the time I was 15. With a class 3 hitch and a harbor freight motorcycle hitch carrier, one could take this thing to lots of great places. Some people are dropping in 125 cc engines from China, on eBay. The Hunter Cub looks awesome, too bad Honda can’t find the sweet spot on price, say $2700 OTD.

    Your look to be having a great time, bloody fantastic as we say in Aus. I spent a good part of my working life riding CT110's for Aussie Post, great bikes. While the newer Super cubs110cc / 125cc retain the emotional essence of the CT110 they are fuel injected bikes and not as robust, you have to be careful not to overheat them in slow riding situations. Modern fuel-injected bikes run leaner (emissions regulations) than bikes with a carburetor and therefore hotter needing more cooling and being an air-cooled engine, you've got to be careful. I don't know if they can be remapped to run a bit richer or some other mod.

    I really wish that people such as Tim would stop saying that there's Honda trail 90's out there for cheap. I've been in the old trail bike buying game for decades and fair condition, running Honda trail 90's are going for over $3000. The days of finding a barn find trailbike for $200 is long gone. It was long gone in the early 2000's folks. The pandemic has raised the prices of all used small bikes to insane levels. A ratty, old, rusted example of an ST90 locally was going for $1500 and they were firm on their price. Save your money, buy a better made, new, drop shipped Honda clone. like the GY230 Hawk.

Stumbled upon this video as I'm considering to buy a CT110, or wait for Honda to maybe sell the upcoming CT125 Hunter in the EU as well maybe next year or 2022, maybe... Seems like an absolutely wonderful little motorcycle! Though where I live there isn't much in the way of trails to ride so I'm not certain if this bike would live a happy life here.

    • @tauncfester3022
      @tauncfester3022 Před 3 lety

      Their top speed isn't much faster than the older OHC 90's, about 50~55 with a tailwind. the newer Hunter Cub is a 125cc bike and has about a hp and a half more, probably not much faster. You can fit a 125cc pitbike engine into the older Trail CT200 and early 1967 trail 90 but you're stuck with a squeaky and easy to bottom out Earl's Link front suspension.
      Just buy one of the Hawk 230cc Chinese dropshipped dualsports, they're far more off road capable and their engines are really tough, they will barely make 65 mph. so no CA freeway riding.
