- Flatpicking Guitar Magazine filmed a live concert performance featuring Bryan Sutton, Tim Stafford, and Jim Hurst. During the show, these three master flatpickers performed as a trio, in various duo settings, and each did a few tunes solo. Here is Tim Stafford and Jim Hurst performing the flatpicking standard "Texas Gales". The concert DVD is available at www.flatpickingmercantile.com

Tim and Jim are seriously, and I mean SERIOUSLY, incredible pickers. Thanks, guys!
Tim stafford is a killer flatpicker.
Absolutely awesome! Two of the best flat pickers in the business!
Never heard of either of these guys.Thank you so much for posting. Awesome flat picking both
Tim Stafford wrote the Tony Rice book.
Love this. Such honest music. Not a false emotion in sight.
This is every bit as great as I remember!
beautiful sounds coming from these men and their guitars
Love those changing keys!!! Outstanding!
Wow! Beautiful. You guys have great chemistry. I was dazzled.
Lovely stuff
Wow, great playing from Tim and Jim. Tim's use of open strings is so ear-catching.
Great video!
Awesome, mind-shaking flat-picking and arranging!
Thanks for sharing, Glenn! Love it!
He is absoloutely my favorite flatpicker, so original, smooth, he always astonishes me with everything he plays.
Outstanding!!!
Incredible to say the least!
Magnificent!
Great arrangement!
WAIT A MINUTE were did these guys come from,I'm a bluegrass fan here in Ireland and I have just found GOLD, Why have all these years gone by without someone telling me about these guys, and whoever made the video WELL DONE.
I'm now a total fan of these great pickers, THANK-YOU Jim Hurst and Tim Stafford and the guy with the camera.
lovely mellow sound unusual for flatpickin
Jim Hurst owns the neck on the guitar if you check him out.Tim is a great guy and greater picker...plus writer
Serious guitar porn!! Great close-ups, impeccable video and sound.
Thank you, Flatpicking Guitar Magazine
I have this dvd Fantastic!
Hey Michael, if you don't have the "Hot and Spicy" bluegrass album yet, grab it. It is my favorite album. Both gentlemen here are on it with this song, plus other incredible musicians. Glad to see a Bluegrass fan in Ireland. I was there in 2009, spent most of my time in Dublin. Some great music happing there, I wandered in more than a few Temple Bar pubs with some great live music. (wasn't sure where else to go)
Excellent job Tim...A great rendition of Charlie B's fiddle tune!
Thank-you I think it is a Elliot, I've only heard about them recently, might order one. Thanks for the help!
Mike!
great players, whished I could see that in slow motion
It's a Huss & Dalton which he actually sold to a friend I know. It's really awesome to play.
Only Tim Stafford can make the guitar sound so full with just a flatpick. The most interesting bluegrass player today and a master of crosspicking !
I also think Kenny Smith is right there with Tim in terms of technique and taste
Yeah and that guitar of Tim's... 1934 D-18, the first year they made those.
Might clean pickin!!
I couldn't find the DVD on the store...
Tim told me he does that because he started out on banjo and his teacher had him put a section of garden hose on his ring finger and little finger to keep them confined and planted. By the time he took up guitar, it was just old habit.
I'm not good at remembering names, but I sure remember the planted ring finger.
It's a Huss&Dalton in there i think
you are the daddy-0! Senator RMT Hunter in "Lincoln".....
Interesting capo on the guitar, anyone know the name of it or a link.
I can't tell but I know he mostly plays a Rockbridge now.
wHO IS THAT GUY OUT PLAYING sTANFORD?
what kind of guitar is jim playing
Hahahah i you tubed my name
You didn't know you could do this I bet😁😁
I could be wrong, but it looks like an Elliot capo. dub dub dub dot elliottcapos dotcom
Please forgive that comment from my husband. He did not mean that toward Tim. He was more complimenting Jim. He would never mean anything bad toward anyone. He is related by marriage to Jim and was just being silly.
yeah he is one of my favirites, but to say he is the best flatpicker of his genre. there are just to many to say. its all about opinion
Its a Huss and Dalton. He plays a rockbridge now for the most part.
