I loved your "never really finished" comment as that is so true you will always move things to a better / more convinient place as your garage evolves and grows. Rob

    Damn.
    Love:
    1. Wall tool mount
    2. Desk
    3. Paddock hanger - definitely copying it.
    4. Logo on wall
    5. Bike bench
Question: How do you get bike up and down on Bench?
Sugestion: Put vinly/flex printed on wall and it will look cool + will prevent the wall from getting dirty.

Watching you tidy up the screws etc has been enough exertion for me so I don't have to tidy up my own shed today. Thanks. 😀
Second thought: a mate of mine made himself a bike lift from an old hospital bed with electric motors that lift and lower it. He got his at a local auction.

Nice video as usual! May I suggest that your tool panel should be moved to a place you can easily reach, rather than behinds the benches. Sometimes you need to pick an other wrench and it is a pain to run all around the obstacles you placed in the way.
An other option is a tool kart or, why not, a movable tool panel...

I know you plan on using your camera soft box light for “lighting” cause you’ll be using it already for shots etc. but I think you underestimate how much work that’s gonna be to rely on for light (and what’s really only spot lighting at that). You won’t believe how much more enjoyable it will be in there to have like 8 Amazon LED light bars overhead. Not only is It unbelievable how much better it is having your whole shop lit up properly, it’s an actual physical relief as your body isn’t always straining against dark or super bright spot light. Plus it’s just nice to be able to see *everything* all the time. They really aren’t that much money either and they’re SIMPLE to install so it’s a no brainer. It’s honestly an upgrade I’ll never go without in my workspace again.

For your new logo, with the acrylic glass behind. You can put some LED lights there and make it pop out more.

Looks like a great place to work. Another really cheap idea for work benches and cupboards is old kitchens that people are getting rid of when renovating

nicely done, I made a bike stand similar to yours yenta ago. mine was nearly as high as yours. although it was convenient to work on I realized I was less likely to use it because it was too tall to put a bike on safely. i lowered mine and I was much happier with it.I put a rubberized mat on the surface and that was helpful as well. I am thinking of building a new one that allows me to add drawers to put things like special tools that would only bemused while my bike was on the stand. also I think the stand could use some cross braces to keep it from racking, it might be fine now but it could loosen up over time, best of luck on your projects.

once u have lots of expensive tools like a torque wrench and air tools u will eventually need a tools trolley/rack. its nice to also know about things the organic way, as some tools will start rusting, again - need a tools trolley/rack

garage can be a studio which make it important to have it lively. simple can be the best but I prefer since you a content creator, make video about tools and test it, and by years later, you will know what tools is important. some travelling and backpack video can be good, some basic video like chris fix on motorcycle also can be good. there's plenty of idea that you can find. or some reddit things which you found true or not.good luck in future

  • @gabrielvanhoorn
    @gabrielvanhoorn Před 2 lety +1

I'm loving how the garage is turning out, you really made it look good so far. An idea you could think of which is also challenging is to make a certain mount to lift the DIY bike stand up to the wall if there of course is space on the wall. You could sort of make a contraption similar to the ones being used in theatres, which can hold a lot of weight due to rope tensioning. I don't know, but it seems like an interesting project or you and most definitely some interesting content to watch for us.
Cheers from Mozambique, and I love your videos. Keep doing what you're doing.

I really like the two-section workbench. It's flexible if you need to redo the layout (for wide or long projects or if you need more floor space) but also functions well (for the reasons you mention) in the L configuration.

GREAT VIDEOS... Just a hint for your workshop that will make a big diference. Everything that you don't need on the floor, put it on the upper available space. The compressor should be on a stand on the wall. Build a plattform with some wood and a dust cover and you will have floor space and the air hose can reach every where the same... keep on working!!!

I'm so bummed I can't even tell you. Then I dropped my bike in the snow... Im glad to see someone having better luck than I am, at least someone is having a great time, it's somewhat therapeutic, thanks.
