that a neat radio. I got to play with one. super receive. better than most. FRS and GMRS shear the same 22 Ch. GMRS is 5 watt max and FRS is 2 watt. being that a GMRS radio it can have a removable antenna. It is the FRS only radio that has to be fixed non removable antenna. also 8 repeater channels . also Data can be sent GMRS and GPS info as well. FCC has funny rules for FRS and GMRS . and they use the same frequency's. and yes the new A36 Talkpod is a clean radio now. Mike K8MRD tested his with Ape and it was clean. happy they fixed the bad harmonics on 2 meters. love the color LCD display. their is a hi cap battery for that. a version on Amazon comes with 2 battery. Nagoya NA 771G is a much better antenna. that tuned for GMRS and has super receive. or get the NA 771 that tuned for 2M/70Cm . but the stock antenna is better than what came with my UV-5R .I get FM stations on the A36 that no outher Baofeng I own and that a lot of the older ones .. 73s
Interesting how it could receive something the other radio could not. Thanks, Chuck. KO4HPC 73
Well...they tell me they've fixed it in future batches, but if it's like the one I have...at least three, all at once.
How do you program them ?
To test how clean/dirty on 2m, try a test transmission while another radio is listening at 3x the frequency (in the 70cm band). If the 70cm radio can hear a 2m transmission, you know the 2m transmission is dirty.
ETA: I have enough cheap HT's, and I do not need more. But, keep it up.
Good idea Lee!
I dig the "Prison Edition" clear case, but the GMRS is no good for us convicts Down-under!😂🇦🇺
You can open up and expand the TX/RX frequencies.
Thank you, I didn't know that!👍
Chuck! Thanks for the video! I appreciate the info. I'm thinking if your are on a GMRS radio with a license, the FRS freqs are there at the appropriate power, but it's considered still GMRS because of the radio and the license. I think . . . Correct me if I'm wrong, of course. 73 de K0WHW Bill
That might be Bill, not sure.
The manual I got with mine was for a different radio 😮
Maybe that's why it didn't match
Mine will not come out of GMRS? N1njy
