Some comments below show very little knowledge of how hard it is to add the recording job to a live performance especially when most of what we see on you tube is only possible because it is done by enthusiastic amateurs. For my part I am delighted to be able to share so many musicians interpretations and listen to a huge number of different instruments in different buildings, Far more than could ever be commercially recorded so lets rejoice that technology allows us to share so much that would other wise be private and lost to posterity. If you do not like it just move on to the thousands of alternative videos available. I enjoyed the performance of what is one of Bach's monster organ works and I am sure Marketa played her heart out!

Viscount Organs, I am sorry for my inadequate English. Viscount, quote: "If you do not like it just move on to the thousands of alternative videoes available." In other words - at the moment her teacher tell her to play some measures in another way, she leave that teacher to find another one who never pointing out anything against her way of playing? Of course we shall criticize! But you are also right, quote: "...it is done by enthusiastic amateurs." And that's the reason why I decided to remove my first comment, I was almost rude to her, and I regret that. There is no doubt, she got the technical skills, that's for sure! But are there really "thousands of alternative videoes available"? There are "thousands" of performances who play the music far from the original style, yes! For me who search for players who want to restore this old music, bring the music closer to the original style, there are almost none.

I agree, dear Simon - the intensity, psychic strength, contrast of tempi, colour, and feeling of Miss Marketa's performance is, hands down, the best performance, currently on CZcams - and that includes Weinberger, Biggs, Richter, Hurford, and Koopman!
Miss Marketa became one with this piece, and, together, they found a new way - it is clear to see and hear!

Your performance is exquisite art, and I appreciate the 17 minutes of happiness, inspiration, and joy that you provided. I am a good church organist, but certainly not of your caliber. I can appreciate just how challenging this piece is. Your technique is so fluid and supple. Europe has a lot of brilliant organists, and you certainly are a member of the pantheon of greats. God has blessed you with great talent, and you certainly have developed that talent , and we and the world are better for it.

So good to hear such a passionate performance, exciting and emotional rather than dry. But also the individual voices are clear, particularly in the fugue, letting us appreciate its full splendour; many powerful organs tend to have a muddy reverberant acoustic which loses this. So bravo all round - even for the physical challenge of reaching the furthest corners of the multi-stacked keyboard! I first heard this piece played by Marie-Claire Alain over 50 years ago and fell in love with it; this is one of very few performances that stands comparison with hers.

Jedna z mých oblíbených Bachových skladeb - vychutnal jsem si vynikající hru organistky, která si zvolila této krásné skladbě odpovídající tempo, registraci a výraz.Gratuluji!
One of my favorite Bach compositions - I enjoyed the excellent playing of the organist who chose the appropriate tempo, register and expression for this beautiful composition. Congratulations!
It's been 19-20 years since I had the opportunity to play this masterful and beautiful-sounding organ thanks to my daughter, who was studying at Olomouc University at the time and took me to St. Mořic Church, for which I am extremely grateful to her today.

Pulchritudinous in every way. Of the many recordings ive heard of this masterpiece, this interpretation most successfully (for me that is) 'fulfills' the original glory, and purpose - and seems to masterfully exude the creator's true origin when he wrote it - you deserve honorable mention amongst any "other; as equally or greater talented organist" who's ever learned, and performed this piece. It's good to see so many comments appreciating the vigour and emotion of this performance. Baroque era music need not be played in a dry, stuffy and academic way, so-called "authentic" but not always so. Bach was a passionate man with a devout faith. His Fantasia and Fugue BWV542 is virtually headbanging stuff; see Leo van Doeselaar's fine CZcams video for the Netherlands Bach Society that almost takes this literally! In his final years Bach took great pains to select and compile his finest lifetime compositions into single works for posterity, such as the magnificent Mass in B Minor. What would Bach and Handel have made of a modern orchestra given the chance? Handel used a vast wind-band in the Music for the Royal Fireworks and the Messiah sounds thrilling with a huge choir like the Huddersfield Choral Society singing their hearts out under a conductor like Sir Malcolm Sargent. His organ concertos can sound fine with a large organ and orchestra - almost never done nowadays. Musical fashions and culture change; human nature does not.

I also agree with Robert Gift about the "muddy sound" of the 16 ft, stop in the manual. Yet still excellent.

Iskreno Marketa: ovo je najbolja izvedba BWV 552 trenutno dostupna. Raspalili ste orgulje. Tako treba. Srčano i snažno. Pritom kada su orgulje moćne potreban je dobar osjećaj za vladanje nad njima. Interpretacija odličan (5). Sve je odličan (5). Tako treba. Orgulje u punoj snazi. Bravo!

Firstly, bravo on such a heartfelt musical performance of the likes of Marie Claire Alain and Karl Richter..thats right, its that good.
    A few points:
    1) you cannot judge an organ performance from a CZcams video, the sound of an organ in terms of volume, dynamics, acoustics, microphones etc is simply too complex to " comprehend" in this way, you have to be there live. The best ever recording I found was on the BIS label from Sweden that used a very sophisticated and ingenious microphone setup the other would be by the folks from Sheffield Labs, they could probably nail that perfectly as well. Even Karl Richters recordings sound at times muddy and screechy.
    2) so knowing that, you have to " extrapolate" from a muddy CZcams recording, you have to know the piece intimately, Bach 's music is very complex and layered.
    3) many organ players play the organ not as an organ but like a piano that makes " organ sounds, you do not.
    4) many organ players seem to " suffer" through the foot work, you play it quite elegantly and naturally.
My biggest gripe about these pieces is that many performers miss the " punch line:, that is Bach is always bringing the successive melodic passage work to a " central theme".
In some of his works that is very defined and clear , in others you have to search and work for it for it to emerge, sometimes only a good teacher can point that out. Of course Karl Richter was one of the organ players I know that really " got it"
In your performance you show " real insight" into the inner workings of this work, bravo!
You hold the tension to the end, keeping the big surprise to where Bach makes some interesting " variations and inversions.
    5) this piece is one of Bachs more technically and thematically demanding works, so bravo again for taking on this huge labor.
Lastly people , especially other musicians always get caught up on the " technical aspects", for me your technique is excellent and if you persevere will only get better, what matters most is the " love: for the music and playing the organ, the rest is just a sideshow and distraction.
As I said, the organ, especially one like this is best appreciated "live" when you feel the chords and notes vibrate through your whole body, if anything Bach created these grand masterpieces to move and elevate the Soul.
Thanks again, keep up the good work.

hoshumberry, just a few words about the fugue: The quavers in 6/4 sounds equal to the semiquavers in 12/8, and you think it is ok? We know that Bach wanted "organo pleno" from the beginning of the fugue, but there is no pleno, and it's ok for you? Since you admire Karl Richter so much, I am a little bit worry.....I am tempted to guess that your level of knowlegde is equal to my inadequate English.

The problem with your biggest gripe is due to the construction of the organ and is not due to the performer. Some organs (and some sound environments) simply cannot sound as clean and sharp as needed for Bach, Telemann, Buxtehude, and others of the High Baroque. Imagine trying to play Couperin on an early 20th century theatre organ. It's possible but it would be nasty.

The Sound ingeneering is very difficult. In this Church we have many naturally echoes and reverbs. The Delay time is between a half and one second. Here some picture from this Church in Olomouce. de.wikipedia.org/wiki/St.-Mauritius-Kirche_(Olm%C3%BCtz) Soundingeneering and the positioning of Microphones in this Church must be a nightmare. In Reference: the dome in Cologne has a Delay Time of 3 Seconds. In CZcams Videos you has the compression format of MP4. Audiocompression is MP3.
