      Hello Keith,
      You have certainly touched on quite a few videos - even going back over 10 years! I am glad this video was of interest.
      Keep the comments and questions coming.

    Thanks Gregg and could not agree more that the details matter, so appreciate your attention to them. You must have read my mind regarding singling and electronics. One of my biggest concerns about singling our future rig is understanding how major changes to the drivetrain might impact the computer systems managing those components. Good to know you and Volvo have a working history when it comes to those kinds of gremlins. Thanks for the tour.

    Another great video! Thank you, sir. While I probably will never need to purchase a big rig for RV towing, I enjoy watching your videos as a learning experience. You always share the good stuff. Lou from Georgia. PS -- January in Calgary, and you're wearing shorts. Nope, don't think so. 🙂

      Hey Lou! See, we own shorts in Canada too! We just don't have as much time to enjoy them through the year.
      Thanks for watching, and commenting.

    Hi Greg, thanks for all the great videos and for your advice when I was registering my Volvo here in Calgary. A quick question for you. What is your process for cleaning, prepping and painting the truck frame?

    • @rvhaulers
      @rvhaulers  Před rokem +1

      Hi there! Glad the registering went well.
      Here is the general process for the frame.
      Pull wires and everything you can away from the frame.
      Using thick rubber and wood, shroud and protect the brakes, wires, truck sleeper, tanks, and everything that you don't want blasted. Remember the sandblasting will bounce around and travel quite surprising distances.
      Pick a proper weather window, and sandblast down to white white bare metal.
      Quickly get the truck into the booth, and apply a heavy few coast of primer.
      Apply commercial high quality top coat paint.
      Reassemble the truck, tie up wires properly.
      Look at your reflection in the beautiful glossy black paint.
      Invite your friends to come see your RVHauler.
      Start a happy hour and bbq.
      That about covers it!

    I noticed on this truck & the others that you panned over that the 5th wheel hitch is behind the rear axle. Would it be better if the hitch was over the axle or slightly ahead ? or use a 'slider' ?

    • @rvhaulers
      @rvhaulers  Před rokem +1

      Great question thanks Herb.
      All of these required cushioning hitches have to be installed down and between the frame rails to allow the hitch height to be correct. If we install them up and over the rear axle to any degree, the hitch height is around a foot too high. Sadly, there isn't a commercially manufactured "slider" hitch on the market either. Darn! I completely follow your thought process.
      Keep these great questions coming!

    Hi, am I correct in assuming that you need a CDL to drive that

    • @rvhaulers
      @rvhaulers  Před rokem +1

      No CDL required. Because I title all my RVHaulers as motorhomes, generally a standard drivers license is all you need. The same license you need for your car, pickup or van. Now, there are some exceptions depending on where you live. Sometimes you need an air brake course.
      BUT NO CDL!
      Keep the great questions coming!
