The ISB and Imperial Intelligence were created to rival each other and check each other's strength, to ensure neither became a threat to Palpatine.
How very palpatine
@@seansmyth6247 Logical, too. Nobody wants another Darth Jadus.
hmmm Hitler did the same
its dictator ship
@@starbasednews5830 Palpatine IS Space Hitler.
Inferno squad is probably actually one of many, seems a good bet that any Admiral or Moff with enough power to matter would have their own little elite squad of choice for special missions
Yeah, i was thinking something similar, they either have a squad of death troopers or something along the lines of infernosquad
The Trooper which they are a squad of is called Special Forces Trooper.
Gideion definitely had a platoon of death troopers
@@mongoxray5552 he’s got big cyborgs that fly and punch drywall, he’s got little cyborgs that sound like the combine and are still 7ft tall super-soldiers, he’s probably got some old clones hanging out somewhere being grumpy drill sergeants just for kicks, he’s got it all
@@Weeping_Willoe The robots were Dark Troopers, the cyborg mixered black armored soldiers were the Death Troopers from his introduction to the show.
I started to think it was getting ridiculous how many special and unique forces there are in the empire. Then I remembered it covers an entire galaxy so it makes sense
Plus there are a lot of different planets so they need special forces that can work or specialize on certain planets.
we have also to remember not every special force is a galaxy wide working one like vaders fist that runs around constantly putting out fire
Also certain special forces units were centered around specific Grand moffs and admirals. Director Krenic had his death troopers, and Admiral Versio had the infernal squad so it wouldn't be a stretch for other admirals and important military figures to have their own special forces created specifically to server their needs
I mean my country has a similar ammount of SOF units
I really do miss the Storm Commandos. Like the Death Troopers, they are sometimes assigned to do special missions. Unlike the Death Troopers, their missions almost exclusively consist of infiltration missions and occasional kidnapping VIPs as we’ve seen in the Star Wars Rogue Squadron games.
I love the Storm Commandos. They were very useful in SW: Rebellion to cause insurrections against Rebel forces (LOL @ the irony) to sabotage rebel assets, and to kidnap or assassinate enemy VIPs. And in Rogue Squadron III, they also had their own capital ships and starfighters, the Escort Carriers and the TIE Hunters. Escort Carriers are like what if the Arquitens-class cruisers had more punch and room for TIEs, and the TIE Hunter is basically a deadly rival to the TIE Defender, with shields, a hyperdrive, ion cannons, and proton torpedoes to accompany its twin blaster cannons. They were a force to be reckoned with, and Sarkli was definitely a bad guy to remember. I still remember that time when he and Wedge got stranded on Geonosis, and Sarkli hijacked a Clone gunship. Wedge had to use an Imperial E-Web Blaster to take him down.
There's something I really like about the ISB Agents, and I can't quite put my finger on it. They look like a cross between the more formal Imperial Officers and the all-black Death Star Troopers. Plus that "sports helmet" looks really dangerous and their martial arts moves in Battlefront 2 look really cool.
It's as if they are some well-trained, ninja-like Gestapo agents.
I agree, and it makes sense given that they are the Internal Security Bureau. Unlike the other SF branches of the Empire, their mission set is different, root out the enemies of the empire from within.
I wish they were better in bf2, cuz they’re kinda just worse versions of the Arc Trooper
In the aftermath book trilogy one main character used to be an isb agent. The book goes over some of his training and his skills are seen often in fights
When you said "My name is Alan?" It reminded me of a few times when I got so lost in thought that I suddenly had a sort of out of body experience where the idea of having a name that nearly 400 thousand other people also have seemed very strange to me.
😂
I want to see more action with the Purge Troopers. Maybe them younger clones we saw in BB will grow to be the remaining clones in that division, as well as the death troopers.
If they do some jedi stuff in badbatch season 2 they will have to use purgetroopers too especially as the early purge troopers are clones and it would fit right in with the clone stuff in the bad batch
Who doesn’t love generation tech! Humanity first!
This is the way.
@@InventorZahran this is the way
@@ChaosSamurai I have spoken.
Death Troopers and Purge Troopers are MOST DEFINITELY my MOST favorites, hands down!
Also there’s the Imperial Commandos of the 501st as well as the Phase Zero Dark Troopers
I suspect that Phase Zero and Death Troopers are the same. There were also hints that Purge Troopers could be also related to those Nala Se's abominations.
@@TheRezro 8o semmonen viikonloppu
Phase zeros aren’t cannon anymore. Dunno about the commandos
Aye, Doctor Jones looking like 007 [in the Wild Geese] is here! Haven’t seen you much on the Simple History videos.
@@tlshortyshorty5810 My comments get lost in the section on Simple History because there are now several million subscribers to that channel
I really would love a band of brothers type series or movie from the perspective of imperial troops. Death troopers actually getting the job done would be cool as well
Disney is too stubborn to make something that good, every time there’s an imperial view at all it always ends with them defecting to the “good” guys.
That would be so cool
fr
We need a clone wars styled show about some of these special forces

The Legends Death Troopers novel is one of my favorites. Thrilling and terrifying at the same time.
Technically the death troopers in that novel are canon, in a way. The “actual” Death Troopers in this video were named in reference to a rumor/urban legend about a secret imperial project to reanimate fallen stormtroopers, a reference to the novel. It may or may not be how the canon Death Troopers were actually made.
@@ClonedGamer001 Wasn’t the project on the star destroyer called black wing? I think that was based on the red harvest incident on a sith world where a black orchid that was force sentient and telepathically tied to a Jedi. The ritual was supposed to require the sith eating the heart of that Jedi after consuming the orchid. But it was interrupted and everyone at the sith academy nearby were turned into zombies overtime. Palpatine had some of the data from that era and probably decided to turn it into a weapon. But that’s just my theory.
@@FordLancer “Black Wing” was the name of the infection itself, while the stormtroopers infected by it were nicknamed “death troopers” due to being…y’know, dead.
Easily my favorite Legends novel
Same one of my favourite legends stories
Got to say. Inferno Squad had a really cool set up with their own corvette, gear and mission sets. But I’m still curious to see if we get to see more of the Death Troopers and their cyborg augmentations. Clones wars only covers so much.
Death troopers were made from the almost dead soldiers who were the best of the best of the stormtroopers and were given mechanical upgrades to keep them alive kind of like darth vader.
There’s one missing from this list, Imperial Task Force 99 also known as “Scar Squadron” from the 2015 Star Wars comics, they’re like the Empire’s Seal Team 6 of the Stormtrooper Corp
I remember reading that comic, those guys were pretty cool.
My favorites have always consisted of groups like Death Troopers, Storm commandos, and Stormtrooper commanders, I always liked the idea of some extremely deadly force that even the toughest of Rebels or even Criminals in the galaxy would be afraid of, another reason was simply because they all look extremely cool and I'd love to see more of them on either but screen or small screen.
Do a video on the real life counterpart of ARF troopers. They badass
ARF troopers are basically just armored cavalry scouts. So in the US Army, think of scouts in an M2 Bradley
The Purge Troopers arguably have the most badass armor in all of star wars.
It's just black clone armor tho but I agree.
@@internetman- no it’s not lmao they look similar but definitely not
Purge troopers sound awesome. Also I read “Death Troopers” it was awesome. Wish they made a movie about it
"They weren't expecting special forces"
“Maybe if you idiots could deal with a bunch of fucking teddy bears with sticks we could be somewhere else”
“That’s the point Sergeant”
Got to say the Purge troopers are my favorite I always like to see anti-force tactics in use and sure they're a bit niche but I would say that single Jedi or rogue inquisitior could be just as dangerous as a entire rebel cell.
Despite their underwhelming campaign in SWBF2, I really liked inferno squad when I read the prequal book. The fact they don’t even really use their gear because they’ve gone undercover was really interesting for a stormtrooper special forces, and fits the idea of them being part espionage.
It’s also interesting as they’re the only special forces we know that are skilled soldiers but also pilots. Their team (even with the loss of the 4th member) was an extremely well rounded squad.
I’d love to see this for the rebels next ❤️
What makes the inferno squad so unique was that the leader is the main character. This meant that nothing in the galaxy could ever stop them even if they die
I hate that she switched sides to the rebellion I was hoping we were going to get a game about someone that stayed in the empire.
I swear because of Generation Tech I know more about star wars lore than earth lore
I never realized Inferno was with ISB. I like how some media does show how the Empire was from an internal view - stuff like the 204th maintaining cohesion despite the Empire coming down around them, or how Titan squadron came across quite the same way in Squadrons. Death Troopers have to be my favorite, though, their chatter is just so menacing and they've got some of the best-looking helmets among the Empire.
It would be awesome to see more Star Wars material focusing on special forces groups like these sometime, I've always loved the idea since being exposed to Republic Commando years ago. I normally don't care much for the Rebellion side of things but it could be super cool to see what they have, too.
Personally my favorite special forces unit in the Empire would be the Storm Commandos.
I wonder what Alan and the crew of Generaton Tech think of Star Wars: Visions. Do you guys like them or what?
Definitely the death troopers are my favorite scary badass and stealth
Death troopers are my favorite the way they talk and communicate just sounds so cool and the way they look just badass
Inferno Squad was also trained to defect at the first complication of allegiance as well, notably.
I’m surprised he didn’t mention any of the dark troopers, however they weren’t necessarily a spec ops unit. I’m also surprised he didn’t mention the shadow trooper variants, including the force sensitive ones.
Most if not all of them are not canon
@@abnercliff9624 canon fuckin sucks, so much lost depth and detail in lore.
@@mintz9782 legends was absolute garbage most of the time with no consistent lore and most content just being not good, most of the bad canon matirial has its origins in legends content
@@abnercliff9624 I mean with original legends before old canon got put into it half of it was well just legends so it's always going to be a jumbled mess of different stories the only consistency it has now is whatever used to be canon
@@mintz9782 nah, if you ignore the sequels, it's good.
i love death troopers and purge troopers the most, i love how they both are specialised in hand to hand combat and are able to deal with multiple enemies or strong ones because of their advanced strategies and combat skills.
Are we still.covering diffrent star wars species?! Sebulba & the dugs would be a great video topic!!
YES
Would Taskforce 99 or SCAR squad count as special forces unit in the Galactic Empire.
I want Purge Troopers in Battlefront III if they make it. I already have their abilities based on their Fallen Order abilities.
1: Shotgun Configuration-Blaster becomes a high-damage shotgun temporarily (cancelable).
2: Power Blast-Shoots an explosive ball (it doesn’t shoot when the ability is activated, it’s like the Scan Dart from Battlefront II).
3: Shock Grenade (like the Specialist’s in Battlefront II).
It would be cool if you did a video on the legends imperial special forces as well
This is a really well done video - great work!
Great content as always
Great description and breakdown 🤙🏽
very good video , we saw some of this in bad batch season 1 this year.
Hi Alan your videos are incredibly entertaining here's a potential video you could do who would win if the Cis at the height of their power went up against the empire at the height of their power in both ground combat and space combat keep up the great work
I hope they use more of them.
"There is, of course, the Inquisition. . . "
*Fyodor Karamazov noises*
I never new that inferno was ISB thought they were a group like the republic commandos but the one i like the best is the purge troopers and it shows something VERY smart on the emporor's behalf in contratiction to building two death stars!
We weren't expecting special forces
I Like the Death Trooper the best among those :D
If only they brought back the Rebel equivalent: SpecForce. Right now all we got is Misericode. Who are cool but could use more.
Always been a fan of the Imperial Storm Commandos
My favorite special forces is the inquisitorius squad :The purge troopers because they are badass 😁😁
It would be cool if they made a video that took a look at the Purge Troopers
Alan, been watching you for atleast 2 years now,you deserve 1 million subs, thank you for such interesting videos and the help you do to aid refugees during war time❤ keep up the amazing work❤
Allen...I am "disappointed" in you... you forgot Task Force 99/ "SCAR Squadron". Stormtrooper special forces with a commander who wielded a Lightsaber. AND not only could they SHOOT, but they also looked/ performed like an actual Special Forces unit (at least from the perspective of someone who has never been in the Special Forces). For shame Allen... for shame...SMH
P.S. I still believe in you...Keep up the great work.
Love the Death and Purge troopers.
I got to ask, what agency did the Dark Troopers serve? I know there was many versions of them. Some more crazy then the others. They had many phases and designs too.
When the trees start speaking Vietnamese:

I think the inquisition is a good idea and should be more fleshed out. Btw I would say death troopers are much more like the CIA’s Special Activities Division (basically black ops type shit)
Has anyone see that meme “stop making special forces units you don’t need or draw 25” and the empire proceeds to hold almost the entire deck.
I love how you compared them to military/law enforcement agencies in the real world.
Love a good trooper video
Imperial special forces look so cool
Galaxy: you cant just hammer your way through politics
Palpatine: I AM THE SENATE
Dark Troopers, Shadowtroopers and Jump Troopers are missing but quite good video.
10:04. Cal Kestis, "Not exactly lightsaber resistant."
They didn’t die right away, even on the easiest setting, and they certainly didn’t lose an arm right away… so I’d say they were resistant. He didn’t say impervious.
@@robcostello5802 You can also say that about the Storm Trooper Commanders, but they didn’t have different armor from the rank and file Storm Troopers
alen i love ur conent ur so cool
0:07 sounds like you were questioning if your name was truly Allan lol
i think the isb is more like a insane cross between the stasi, the nkvd, the gestapo and the kgb. also with a bit of the waffen ss and mvd internal security troops thrown in.
DEATH TROOPER SQUAD is too cool
Didn’t Rampart add more soldiers to the Elite Squad? I think there was the original squad led by Crosshair, then I think Rampart added more. In the second to last Episode of Bad Batch it looks like there were three more added, and then obviously the sole survivor of Crosshairs old squad added too
How about Storm Commando, 501st Legion Clone StormTroopers, and Shadow Troopers too!
The logo you showed at the beginning when talking about Republic Intelligence and the OSS was actually the USSOCOM Logo, not the OSS.
We weren’t expecting special forces
Obscure one here, the Imperial Army's Special Forces Command
"Imperial Army Special Missions troopers were sniper teams, infiltrators, saboteurs, commandos, assassins, and slicers. They operated in the dark and behind enemy lines, and were fully aware that they were disposable and unimportant assets."
The dislikes are the stormtroopers that didn’t get to spec forces
They arent regular trooper's tho, they are kinda like tier 3 units
You missed a couple, like shadow troopers and the standard ISF that inferno shares the armor of, but that was a decent list.
Death troopers the audio book is horrifying I couldn’t sleep that night
Can you do Rebellion/New Republic Special Forces next?
There were also the purge troopers from the star wars uprising game
Im suprised that your didn't talk about scar squadron in you video considering they would fall under imperial special forces
do one for the rebellion
It was so badass when 2nd sister came with those death troopers.
By far the most important special forces troopers were the Imperial Army Troopers. They were incredibly effective in combat, hitting most of their shots and very few of them died throughout the course of the galactic civil war.
what about storm commandos, death troopers and phase 0 dark troopers? Also early on imperial commandos? (clone commando's trickling into the imperial era)
5:47 so the empire couldn’t afford the clones but they were able to afford TWO DEATHSTARS
Shadow, Dark, and Purge Troopers may look similar, but they’re all vastly different.
Imperial Army, Imperial Navy( Conventional Forces), and Special Operations Forces ( SOF) , including Death Commandos.
What about the Shadow Troopers we see in Battlefront 2015 and the old Lego battle pack?
My favorite are the Death Troopers
General Airen Cracken's Imperial Storm Commandos, created by Cracken before he defected from the Empire to found the Rebel SpecOps...
Blacked out variant scout trooper armor and a Tier1 skillset
Storm Commandos were created by General Madine.
You guys forgot about Storm Commandos!
181st Imperial Fighter Wing: "Am I a joke to you?"
I personally prefer Nova Troopers I like the way the armor is painted black and Gold just fit.
My favorite is death and purge troopers
you forgot compforce. They were the military arm of COMPNOR. These people were special forces pulled from the assault forces and are hated by the standard military personal.
The addition of death troopers are one of the few things I've liked from Disney star wars
Unpopular opinion: I actually like almost all of it, the only real exception being the sequels.
Storm Commandos, a.k.a "Shadow Scouts" are missing here. Stormtrooper Corps Special Forces, dressed in reinforced, blackened Scout Armor.
My favorite is the inferno squad special forces or shadow stormtroopers or the storm commando troopers.
It’s showtimeeeeeeeeee
Who would win: Inquisitors or the Royal Red Guard legends version?
Bad Batch vs Death Troopers?
