Dr. Gundry answers helpful questions from his viewers about diet and health. In today's episode, Dr. Gundry answers the question: "Which source of caffeine is best for me?"
First, it’s important to realize that caffeine is not actually considered a nutrient. Instead, it’s really a dietary component that works as a stimulant in your body. Caffeine comes from plants and is entirely natural. While you can find caffeine in coffee beans, green tea and black tea leaves, it’s also found in cocoa beans and kola nuts.
What Are The Health Benefits Of Coffee?
Tea vs coffee | Gundry MD One of the greatest benefits of drinking coffee, or tea for that matter, is the content of natural plant chemicals found in both beverages. They’re called polyphenols and they’re shown in several studies to offer certain health benefits. According to the US National Institutes of Health, research indicates polyphenol consumption may play a significant part in supporting your metabolism, weight loss or weight control, heart health and much more
What Are The Health Benefits Of Tea?
The major health benefits of green tea and black tea are pretty similar to the benefits of coffee. For one thing, both black tea and green tea also have polyphenols known as flavonoids. Flavonoids are known for their antioxidant abilities and they’re capable of helping with swelling and redness.

My mom was diagnosed with FTD in her mid 40’s and she drank coffee multiple times a day for many years. She passed away at age 55 from the disease.

I'm sure, Dr. G that you've meant organic only coffee based on previous podcasts, correct?
Or I'm good with SB or Dunkin black as well?

While Dr. Gundry prefers organic coffee, as long as you're drinking black coffee without cream or sugar, feel free to enjoy whatever brand you like.

Roasted coffee beans contain acrylamide. Isn't it actually carcinogenic to consume coffee in high amounts?
