    Wow! Feel like a kid again! I was always playing outside as a kid ...i used to pretend I didn't hear my mum call me in so eventually she would shout "BIG BREAK IS ON!" That always got me in :) miss this!!

      Amen to that. You can see they had a good time rehearsing and recording this classic prime time series. I don't think I properly appreciated it at the time, even though I did watch pretty much every broadcast. It is a truism, you only miss something when it's gone.🤷
      Much of the banter made it to air, and it always 'seemed' like everyone was just 'having a laugh'. _'Snooker loopy nuts are we!'_
      And I agree about Davidson, very naturally funny man, one quick cheeky chappy! And a wonderfully authentic smile goes a long way. Unfortunately not PC enough for present day United (Socialist Sanctimonious) -Republics- Kingdom.
      _note_ I don't want to be misunderstood, PC was a soviet invention, and ought to have died along with it. Hence the elaborately fabricated acronym.

    These were the best TV when it comes to having a laugh time has changed and this material would never be allowed into days television but thank god we all had a brilliant laugh with all the all-stars comedians of the '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s as some are now entertaining those in Heaven and the almighty must be having a great time. I miss them all god bless them that was comedy back then.

      Simon Lloyd, to be fair, mate, game shows back then were watched by the whole family, they weren't just some shite to fill the space between the news and some Marple Mystery pish.
      I loved being a bairn in the early 90's watching Big Break with my parents, just as my elder sister did 5 years prior watching Bullseye with them. Saturday night used to be about having a laugh with a takeaway, today it's about finding which punter on the street would most likely make people part with their hard-earned cash.
      "Hi, Tabitha, congratulations on winning this year's X-Idol, here's a record deal that will make you £100,000 and make me $10,000,000. Remember to fuck off after a year so we can do this all again."

    40:36 I truly cannot believe that Virgo thought this was a good idea! This would be a difficult shot for the world number one of any era to judge!
    I mean, I guess if the first ball was going extremely slowly and the second was struck extremely hard...but he certainly didn't stipulate that when setting it up. An I can't see how it could be done with any certainty otherwise. And it looked like the lady was totaly incapable of even striking accurately let alone forcefully :-)
