  • One of the lesser-known dark chapters of American history, the wholesale slaughter of dozens of members of the Osage Indian nation by their supposed guardians, neighbors and friends. A dramatic gut-punch of a film- It was adapted by Scorsese and Eric Roth from the 2017 David Grann book the same name. The novel took about five years to research and the film took just about as long to arrive on the big screen. With both taking great pains to authentically communicate the tragic nature of the Osage murders. While the film obviously takes a handful of liberties necessary to dramatize Grann’s book- by all accounts it’s an incredibly faithful retelling of the story accurately re-creating the book’s major events as realistically as possible. Let’s take a look at what really happened to killers of the flower moon.

This was an intense and dramatic movie, but I really don't understand why it cost 200 million USD. Why? Were the sets that expensive?

quality in every aspect of visual design and this movie was long and it had a very specific handpicked cast including high-profiles. Each scene was filmed to perfection. Each second worth thousands. America is an expensive place to shoot we're not paying tens of dollars for a hundred people anymore. A production of real quality in America demands the utmost wealth. They weren't paying me for this production and theres a reason for that. I work for cheap and my work sucks.

This is my favorite movie in 2023. Seen it on the big screen with my mom and then I was on plane re-watching this movie again. And I'm actually 100% Native American myself, this is the most beautifully done more faithful to the original story.

What really happened to Killers of the Flower Moon was they should have stuck to their original conception of Dicaprio playing the sheriff who investigates the murders. Jesse Plemmons should have played Dicaprio's role, it was a business decision. Movie's was FAR too long.

My favourite film of 2023. I thought it was brilliant. I actually read the book first just to familiarize myself with the story, & I think that helped. It gave it a context & I understood what was going on. The explosion scene, although I knew what was going to happen, I found tense & suspenseful.
People complain about the length, but its at a similar running time to The Godfather Part 2, & Return of the King. Its not that much longer than Oppenheimer, which I found tedious & overlong. I thought that film was poorly edited & needlessly long, & Nolan is extremely pretentious with his gimmicks. I had no problem with Scorsese's film as I find myself immersed in the worlds he creates, due to the amount of detail & other subtle ways he focuses on.

If these super hero movies like The Batman are allowed to be 3 hours long, & if Nolan is allowed to make the bloated, pretentious poorly edited Oppenheimer 3 hours long, then Scorsese should be allowed to make his films as long as he feels he needs them to be.
