I love watching your tutorials they are always so clear and you take your time to explain the pattern as you go along and you do it very well Thank you 😊
I love your explanations, and the you encourage the knitters to think by themselves, good for you!!!
Thank you so much Alison. I have done one and starting another. I have watch all and written it out including your important well made points. You are a brilliant tutor. I have never made a garment before.
PLEASE READ THIS COMMENT The way this square yolk is made so its not wide at the neck as to slip down the baby's shoulder or be too gappy at the neck. THE 1st round the corners are shared by the stitches. Even though you are making corners on the VERY FIRST ROUND there is NO INCREASE. YOU will have 50 stitches after round 1. go into each corner with 2 stitches a chain and 2 stitches you WILL be INCREASING BY 16 NOT 8 AS I SAID IN THE VIDEO Only Round 7 will increase by 8
the rows are as follows
row 1 - 50 stitches row 2 - 66st row 3 - 82st row 4 - 98st row 5 - 111st row 6 - 126st row 7 - 135st I do apologies for the mistake.
I want to make this but this comment confuses me and I feel like I can’t do it.
Row 5 should be 114 row 6 130 making 7 138
Thank you for this correction, I have frogged this 3 times before reading the comments and finding this correction, now on and upward, loving this cardigan, can I make this larger for my 23 & 27 year old grandsons
@@gillianabbott760 I agree, that’s what I get. I was getting so confused as it’s an increase of 16 each row except the last is my understanding
@@kkelly3047 exactly. I did it 3 times neither matched hers. When i put up that she was wrong don't think she liked it but if you are earning from subscribers you should get it right
This is such an amazing tutorial! The step-by-step instructions were so clear and easy to follow, and the finished project looks absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talent and expertise with us.
On row 1 you should have 50 stitches then increase 16 stitches each row up to and including row 6 gives the following
Row 2 -66 st
Row3 - 82st
Row 4 - 98st
Row 5 - 114st
Row 6 - 130st
And row 7 is only an increase of 8st giving 138st
I hope this helps others who bare confused by the video
Thank you Alison for this video. I've been dying to try a baby cardigan but didn't have the confidence to try. You make it look so easy and I'm looking forward to giving it a go. I love the little baby dress you did too so I look forward to seeing how you did that.
Thank you for doing this tutorial. I am new at doing these baby sweaters, so your instructions in doing the arms is truly appreciated. So cute & simple. I’m sure I’ll need to stop & start it until I get it done. 😱😄😄😄❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I’ve only been crocheting 2.5 weeks and I’m so pleased with how mine has turned out. Your voice is so calming I could listen to you all day. I’m from Aberdeenshire x
Thanks Alison. I'm very new to crocheting and with my first grandson coming along, I'm excited to move on from scarves, hats, and granny square blankets. This pattern, with your excellent and clear instructions will move me up a notch or two. Getting started right away!!!
Thank you for such a concise and easy to follow video I have been trying to get to grips with making a yoke and I couldn’t get it right, I’ve just started watching this video and you’ve just showed me what I was doing wrong 😊thank you ❤️xx
Absolutely beautiful Alison!! I love the baby cardigan easy one too thank you 😊 ❤️
I started making cArdigans about 4 years ago. I just learned top down method this past year or two. I made afghans, hats, scarves, baby blankets, etc. for about 40 years. Then I stopped crocheting for 10 years due to arthritis. NowI crochet all day and my hands are better than ever. The movement seems to help. Anyway, I just wanted to say how making garments opens up a whole new world of crochet!!
thats why i crochet and dont knit it helps my hands keep moving
I'm crocheting since I'm 12 I'm 54 now and still doing it, never made a baby's cardigan before, this is my first time trying it, and I love the way u make them💕🌻
It sure does, and it good for the head space
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel I sent u an ema a while back did u get it it’s Tracy

I've just come to the end of my first trimester and can finally crochet some clothes for my baby due November! Thank you so much for this super easy tutorial! 💞💞
Thank you for this. I just made all the granny squares for a baby blanket that I will be sending to a friend in Sweden. I was looking for an easy to do cardigan to go with it and this one seems easy enough. I am in the US and am left handed. I plan to sit and write out all the instructions you gave in the video so I can work on this even if i dont have my laptop or phone handy. I have never made an article of clothing so this will be a new challenge.
This is so cute! I love that edging and all your tips!! Thank you 😊
I’m am well pleased to be learning with you today and I’m very excited to see more, you are appreciated by me always. 😇🙌💕
Thankyou so very much Alison. I just finished this baby cardigan and it turned out beautiful in spite of the difficulty in stitch counting in making the yoke. Appreciate your simple and detailed instructions specially for the corners.

A huge thank- you is in order Alison. Despite many years of knit and crochet I have always shied away from making sweaters. This “recipe” for baby garments is simply fantastic! Thank you so much for your clear and friendly instructions and for making the garment with us. So fabulous 👏😊👏
Glad it was helpful!
Hey Alison love the cardigan it looks easy so I’ll give it a try! Thank you
Thank you Alison, my friend has been asking me to make some baby clothes for a charity she is involved with but I don’t enjoy working on such small items tbh but I’m definitely going to have a go at your cardigans. I think young mums will love the cardigans as they are modern & a little different from the usual baby knits available.
I do It to charity. Thanks you for the idea!!!! Could you make shoes too? Thanks from Brazil!!!

Hi was wondering if you had a link for the dress and romper please and thank you in advance love your video
I would really like to make the little blue and white romper. Could you give information to make one. I made the cardigan and loved it. Thought the romper would make a cute set. For a baby boy.
I just finished my first attempt at the cardigan. It was tricky for me because I am left handed but I think it turned out rather well. I plan to do another one but will keep the video running for it. I watched the video and took notes but I think Ineed to use the video too. :D
Great job!
The sound quality is very good 👍🏻 well done

Hi Thxs wanted to know how much stitches I need to take for 8 to 12 months boy
Following this tutorial. Wondering if there is a written version. I like to try to read and understand written patterns too
Hi Alison, this is just an amazing tutorial. I love following you. I have a question re sizes. Each cardigan I gave done has been a different size. I don’t know what I’m doing. I’ve tried a 3.5 size hook for a new born baby. It’s now ready to fit a one year old. Is it the yarn or is it me ? Can I cut down on stitches to make it smaller? Thanks so much.
Well explained cardigan pattern for babies. Thank you. Now my grandchildren are no longer babies I would love it if you could make a pattern for 2-7 year olds. I would like one for my granddaughters with perhaps granny square pockets.
I forgot to mention that I am in Canada and the most commonly used yarn is 4 weight worsted ( Aran in the U.K. )
You explain things so well! Thank you for that. It really helps us beginners. 😊
You are so welcome!
I wish we could share our makes on CZcams, my little cardigan came out so good!
Very nice tutorial i want to make for 6 to 12 month child for that same stich 48 or more than that please let me know
Thanks 👌 ❤
Thanks this has encouraged me to try my first crochet cardy, great guide and lovely tips 💞
Hi there… this is gorgeous.. is there any chance you have a written version?!
If you turn after the slip stitch on the sleeve you will make the sleeve pattern match the body pattern x
Will do that with next one.
Hi Alison I’d love to add a hood to this what is the right way to make one? 😊 thank you
i would go around the collar pick up stitches and work in rows until you think its big enough then simply sew the edge together if you know what I mean.
Hello Alison, I love the colour of the yarn you have used and the cardigan is beautiful, so cute. Tutorial was absolutely fantastic. Have a great bank holiday. Keep safe and be lucky me lovely 💞💞💞
Hi Alison this is brilliant and I cant wait to have a go at one of these. Also I am from Northern Ireland so I love your Scots accent! Looking forward to your next video.
Have You got one for Right handed or do You learn how to do this with Your left hand. I can understand what You are doing, just wondering as I am right handed. Thank You. You are Fabulous.
Do you have one with hat and socks thanks
