    I spoke to a rep from sig today. He told me they are designing a closed emitter romeo x, however it won’t be out for sometime due to the cost it takes to make/produce the unit and they didn’t believe the majority of their customer basis would be prepared to pay the steep price it would be sold for. He went on to say, the closed emitter optics are mainly marketed for “duty use” as of right now. (I have seen in other forums people have heard they will be dropping greendot versions and closed emitter options soon.) either way, i will be waiting on the closed emitter version.

    I have 2 eps carry one 6 moa and one mrs. I looked throug a compact X at a store and it was so much clearer for my astigmatism. I waitied until they were back in stock and used my 100 dollar coupon so it's on it's way

    I agree with your final assessment. For me, I'd like to go all the way with SIG; but they, SIG, won't let me. I run both, SIG and Holosun, and for the money, Holosun can't be beat.... not yet anyway!

    The glass clarity on Sig red dots is unmatched in my experience. The aspherical lense that I’ve heard is supplied by Zeiss makes a huge difference compared to every red dot I’ve looked through. The only comparable dot may be Aimpoint but I haven’t looked through one in a long time but I remember them being extremely clear. All other dots I’ve looked through (especially pistol mounted dots) have very noticeable fisheye distortion. Sig is supposed to be making an enclosed version and green dot versions too. For a CC weapon I don’t mind an open emitter but for my open carry 10mm woods gun I definitely want an enclosed dot.

      It's weird I've been seeing people saying this lately. I had an RMR type 2 and didn't have any issues with distortion or a fisheye effect but I see tons of people online saying it does. I've seen videos of the distortion and it's BAD, but mine never had that issue.

    • @ESMaddock

      Why? You want your worst case failure to be catastrophic when the seal fails vs an easily correctable getting debris on the emitter?

    Old me would've skipped this video review of the Romeo-X Compact, made by someone who carries a .22 for self defense but then again, old me used to think Masad Ayoob was the GOAT for his wealth of knowledge as well, but thanks to the innernet we now have content from like-minded people who offer reviews from an unbiased and informed point of view, such as this channel.
    ...Great video! It goes into detail, covering many of the things I needed to know but couldn't find the answer to in other reviews.
    Thanks for the valuable information, now I can finally make an informed decision when getting my next Micro red dot for my X-Macro.

    • @JTheraos
      @JTheraos Před 5 měsíci +2

      What exactly is the issue with Ayoob? He IS very knowledgeable.. and a .22 for self defense is just dumb. As someone who's actually taken rounds, you are majorly lacking. Sure, you can hit a vital and kill, but not before the bad guy comfortably returns fire because the shit just doesn't hurt.

    • @freedomgorilla1
      @freedomgorilla1  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Exactly! When we first saw it online we were so excited bc it looked like an EPS carry with an RMSC footprint which would totally DOMINATE. Then when we realized it was an open emitter our heads just exploded with shock. So to us it went from being one of the best optics available to now wondering what is sig actually doing!? However the reticle is clearer and nicer than the Holosun.

    @toddparsons2980 Před 7 měsíci +3

    Thanks for the comparison. I like the idea of the side battery compartment of the X, helps keep the deck height lower. Would like to see them make a X without the integrated rear sight, not needed on my pistols, they already have rears.
    Wish Holosun would make models/versions with a true RMSc footprint.

    • @JTheraos
      @JTheraos Před 5 měsíci +2

      I don't understand why they ever made their footprint. NOBODY comes with 507k footprints. It's always shield rmsc and you have to get plates or modify the slide... literally the dumbest/most pointless choice by holosun. And doubling down and keeping the footprint and releasing new optics in said footprint is braindead behavior.

    • @bobdegutis302
      @bobdegutis302 Před 5 měsíci

      @@JTheraosI totally agree with you. I challenge anyone to look at any of the most popular subcompacts and see where they specify holosun-k optic mount. I can give holosun a pass on existing products (and adapter solution for those), but new products like the scs carry out to be rmsc native. And that’s why I won’t be buying it.

    I have the new P320 NSF and they don't have screws for optics. Sadly I tried my many screws in the screw box I have and nope! Called Sig and they said that their sealing plate comes with the proper screws but it's out of stock. That really pissed me off after spending $750 on a new pistol that is OPTICS READY. Two questions. For Glock 43xmos, I like the idea of direct mount to use factory height sights, but another video showed the screws were to long and affect the extractor, do you know if this is correct or sell the correct screw length. Second question is I am also considering the eps carry, but do I get any co witness with factory sights when using the adapter plate and eps carry combo. Thanks

    • @freedomgorilla1

      @@freedomgorilla1optics planet selling for $310 currently. For $10 less then an eps I’ll take the X compact for the improvements that’s matter to me. Better glass > enclosed emitter.
      Enclosed is for military operations in dust rain elements etc. the chances of me needing my ccw in the elements is 0.01% vs at the range having nicer glass and more sturdy optic (watch the video of someone denting an ammo can and it retaining 0) matters more then the 0.01% off chance I’m in rain, and then have to use back up iron sights

      I think there's a chance the internals are not from China, considering the Romeo X is based on the M17, which can't use Chinese parts in order to be military contract compliant. Assembled in the USA is still better than Made in China, in my opinion. It's why I didn't purchase a Holosun.

      I did some research a while back for the Romeo 4T after seeing it used by SAS and Delta guys. It’s a US housing, Zeiss glass, Japanese circuit board, S Korean emitter (possibly Japanese now). Smaller parts I’m not sure but there are claims that there are zero Chinese parts and only uses parts from friendly ally countries. SIG said they are continuously moving more production back to the US so I assume all the US assembled lines use the same imports as the 4T and RM17 that have government contracts. Modern SIG optics are vastly superior to their older SIG optics.
