Regardless of whether she's good or not, her perma camo is attractive enough for me. Pure hull color, so clean and shiny that it looks like she just came out of some magical warship 3D-printer. I absolutely love it.
Regardless of how it plays, I honestly think Venezia is one of the most beautiful ships in the game. I'm sad that I'm struggling on the Zara, I would love to finally get to Venezia.
you struggle on zara because enemy battleship armor at that tier is insanely good against SAP (things like fuso, berlin, lyon, etc). youll have a much better time on the amalfi.

My biggest gripe with Zara is that your opposition really steps up... and you're more or less a Trento, one tier up. Zara isn't bad per se, she just doesn't feel good. You get effectively the same rate of fire and like a 2k HP bump for going up a tier and it feels like a side grade. I don't think there's any question Trento is tier-for-tier better.
Best thing about Venezia is watching cruisers assume you have SAP loaded and they just sail broadside to you so you can just send 15 AP shells into them and sometimes dev strike them. I feel the Italian AP is a bit overshadowed by SAP. It really rewards shell swapping like a German cruiser.

In a ranked game once, recently too, when I was playing my ven, I came around an island in which I knew there was an Elbing there, and he had like 20-25k hp, I full killed him in one salvo with sap as he was broadside to me.
My Amalfi managed a more modest version of that feat rounding on an Oland trying to cap. Few things are more satisfying than a Dev Strike on a DD with your guns.
What venezia does is reward those who have decent aim and focus on destroyers and mid-heavy cruiser broadsides. So many ships can't take 15 SAP shells whilst venezia is nice and quick to angle
The best gimmick , you can turn on 360 in dime . The large cruiser with funnel rotors and magic spaghetti souse
I totally agree, once you get how to play them, Italian ships are truly fun and unique.
Love this boat. Me and a colleague both got our Venezia at the same time. Surprisingly Nimble, the Speed, the Smoke, Lotsa SAP from Lotsa Guns, decent torps. And the boat is gorgeous. Its just a win win. Highly recommended.
Awesome stuff! I actually started the grind towards Venezia the other day, after testing my Zao after many years of not touching her, and as an alternative to my dark side Russian cruisers. Figured it was time for a "better Zao" (without fires).

Venezia is my all time favourite ship. Sadly I got it just after its nerfs, but damn, it's a power ship, good looking, and all round just a fun ship in any game mode
I play with 17.6 km concealment to proc the buff when someone is spotted inside your concealment range, pair that with luigi’s confederate and heavy sap and the ship is amazing. It can be dicey as your concealment is worse than your base gun range with reload mod though but with wasd hacks you can survive most games. There’s always the spotter to increase range and the smoke screen to act as a concealment buff to get into better positions

simply the ability to safely turn around after pushing and disengage at will is so strong in this meta. its what used to make ships like zao so powerful but since cv have mitigated stealth rolling smoke is the new stealth.
I've never found it necessary to run range mod on my venezia, it has spotter plane, and with sansonetti you often end up getting a range boost anyway.
Loving my Venezia with full lighthouse build. Consistent SAP slaps, great at kiting for her plating and nimble rudder... Fun! Getting potential damage in the millions consistently with her. She's much better at that than many battleships.
I prefer concealment. Nothing beats getting close to a cap and absolutely NUKING a DD.
I really enjoy the LHB on my Hindenburg and Henri but hadn't thought of trying it on Venezia. Thanks for the idea. I'm looking forward to trying it.

Try the double rudder lighthouse build! It's super fun and amazing reload. Work on your aim and you can still nuke DDs from the mid-longer ranges you'll be at.
Brindisi is already in my port but I am trying slowly to get Venezia.Few more days to play Brindisi and I will buy Venezia
:P ah yes the AP,I remember an instance of rushing a Thunderer with fuelssmoke and blapping him the AP from 3km distance.

I find this ship to run hot or cold. By that I mean I tend to have really good or really bad matches depending on whether or not there's a CV. An average CV player can really hard counter this ship just through spotting and the ensuing focus fire. This ship really can melt fast. You can smoke up but every time I use smoke I strive for 20k dmg and smoking up just for planes really sucks. Often times the spotting also derails the positioning I'm going for. So yeah, a match like this can be fun but add a CV and this cruiser becomes "meh". I know one can say that about most cruisers but in the Venezia the CV imbalance is really stark.
CV suck the life out of the game, for sure. It's a shame that they incentivize play that would, in any other circumstance, just be bad. I think you're right that open water cruiser Captains feel this acutely because it interferes with the ability to disengage and reposition, especially if you are playing aggressively in that 14 km or less range that leaves you susceptible to BB AP if you can't go dark.
It would be interesting to see WG actually make cruiser AA meaningful again as more than just an inconvenience.

Agree completely with your assessment. Venezia is an awesome ship and the grind isn't bad at all. And sansonetti isn't that hard to get either.
Can confirm, grinding Venezia's line is s really easy if you know what kiting is. It is my 5th resetting the line for Research points.
My go to "just to have some fun ship"....basically a tier X Mogami. Lay back and snipe with your 20k gun range and good maneuverability...edge close to an island and watch a dd player squeal with fear once they know you're there...hahah....this ship and the Atlanta are pure fun at their tier. A good volley of SAP under 10k will one shot a tier X DD...not something just any ship can do...
I use both rudder mods instead of concealment on Venezia and Napoli, I love that build and won't use concealment anymore haha
I am nearly done with Venezia grind and jesus christ i cannot wait to get some more useful ship which does not explode upon being looked at because of the size
What i also found surprising is the AP is not as horrible compared to other ships of the same guns or size
I'm on the Zara. Not my favorite ship but I know the grind will be worth it.
As a DM/Salem player, Venezia is a pain in the aft
i change this builds many times i find ( heavy sap and no concealment at slot 5 ) ,, yeah you get high damage but you limited your role cuz most of time u shoot from back cuz you can push or you will get spotted from 15 k i think cuz your very bad concealment ..& you will force to use the double rudder to dogg tones of shells cuz all the enemy ships will shoot on u all time ,,,i see it its a good way to play it as team supporter

Yeah Venezia is amazing, pair it with Luigi and it becomes even better. Made some great points with low DPM high AD

Heavy AP is complete trash, especially for a repulse which you want to play at closer ranges, that means you get set on fire very often and you dont want them to last so long... Yes, you may have fast damagecon but still the 7,5% is not worth. The only ships where I would consider it are snipers like Yamato, Shikishima or Vermont but tbh even on them its not really worth it. On low tier ships I would never do it because you just play on closer ranges in all ships, at least thats what I do.

As a dd main, sap is nuts overpowered. But that's just me complaining cuz besides cvs that is our huge weakness.

Maybe i do something wrong: SAPs rico exactly like APs. Got the T8 but it's months i stopped.
Aim at superstructure rather or top of deck..think ur sap is bouncing because armor is to thick on some ships
SAP does ricochet but at much steeper angles than AP, if i remember correctly the ricochet chance of SAP starts increasing at 70-75° impact angles, while standard AP at 45° impact angle

I'm trying to like this ship, it's a beautiful looking ship, i just can't play it for $hit! i get constantly one shotted by everything no matter which way I'm angled! i just don't understand it lol

It's all fun and games until you run into a Kremlin, then you start missing the other cruisers. That and some of the other characteristics have me play my Venezia VERY rarely. Heck, I usually pick even Atago, Yoshino, Goliath, Hindenburg, or Zao instead over Venezia. SAP feels much better when it gets to BB calibers, i.e. Colombo.
I don’t know. I never get games like this with Italian CA’s. I get 500 damage per shell with a 16 second reload; it’s like a Mino with a huge reload. The whole line has been a disappointment. I just can’t figure them out and the games are incredibly dull to play. Everyone loves this ship, so I’m sure it’s just me. C’est la vie.

SAP is a quite overturned imo. Putting it on BBs was a bad idea as well as SAP doesn't allow that! I've seen a Colombo do 33k to an angled Kremlin. That should not be allowed, because punishing someone for angling is not a good game design.
"punishing someone for angling is not a good game design", the word you are looking for is Overmatch, it can also happen with ships who have thin citadel armor and are better of showing broadside and hoping for citadel overpens (smolenk, 7D,...)
@@general_alexus2533 I am aware of that term, but it's SAP that punishes way too much. I was kiting away from a Venezia and I just kept losing 10K HP per volly :(

They should increase the amount of xp when winning for Cruisers and destroyers, they are too bunerable, there is no reason to play on those ships.
I had a Venecia. But a few month ago, some youtube players (flambas/the british old man) where talking about the immorality of WG teaching kids to gamble. So I closed my account and lost 220 ships. Months later, those same youtubers stay playing the game, and I was the dumb one for thinking that I was helping them to make WG change their ways. But no, they kept their ships, and I need to start from O. So that is how a lost my Venecia and other premium ships. So Never Again listening the youtubers talking trash about a company they dont own, and they make money of it. At the end of the day, its just about money. Once a youtuber has hundres of subs, is hard for them to the WALK.
