Not saying there's no benefit to this but the discussion seems pretty unscientific. Calisthenics, the same as every other kind of exercise, will only build muscle if the movements are sufficiently challenging, so if you're already decently strong it will be much harder to build muscle with only your body weight. Getting super jacked isn't everyone's goal so that's fine, but also no type or quantity of exercise will make you lean if you're not also eating the proper amount.

Great shout out to K Boges. His youtube channel is great. I'd definately recommend everyone jump down that rabbit hole if you haven't already. First try to find the videos where he outlines his overall approach. It's simplified my exercise life 👊

The Strengthside dudes and K Boges are solely responsible for the training protocols that have changed my life the last few months. Can't wait for the inevitable collaboration!

It's no wonder that the word callisthenics combines the words "beauty" (kállos) and "strength" (sthenos). The physiques that Greek statues have are all from callisthenics and lifting odd objects.

Those pull ups are clean. The lat pull down is building the body part, the pull up builds the ability. To me, the muscle up is a better display of strength than a massive bench. Its just different.

  • @intwominds1943

Do both. Barbels are still valuable tool for building strength. Awkward objects are also great.

  • @TacticalStrike-Happe

I finally feel legitimized for all the “strange” movements I work with for my body. Working with fibromyalgia and trying to reconnect movement with fun and enjoyment instead of feeling overwhelmed with pain, has been my drive.
