    Thanks for posting this video. Lex did a great job, and I can't see any sign of bow thrusters, so you appear to have attracted a number of "That's nothing!" trolls, who can't resist the urge to downplay the skill of a pilot like this, when they probably couldn't navigate their way through a bath tub. They even got numerous "thumbs up" by other know-nothings who don't know anything about piotage. Give Lex my best.

  • @MrMikewr
    @MrMikewr Před 11 lety +1

    Yes this boat does have a bow thruster. You can see the symbol for it on the hull, you can hear it, and see the wash from it. If you look at other videos of this boat you can see the tunnel as the boat planes past the camera.

    @007TruthSeeker Před 11 lety

    Perhap you were not, as others, saying that his piloting skills were dubious, but only pointing out that the video was hardly accurate in saying that it was "extreme." I, meanwhile, was rightly pointing out that the pilot's skills were good, from much practice, and you get that from going out there regularly and honing those skills, not watching videos & thinking you know something, like so many posers. You're right about skills being low in many. Good luck in your career.

    I wonder if you guys know the typical sound of a bow thruster. Obviously not! Make use of your senses guys! You can hear it all the time!! The mistake is that you expect the thrust to come off on port side. Which is not the case because it's not desired. Instead have a closer look at the bow when you hear the noise of the thruster then you can see the thrust in the water on starboard side. Because the skipper wants the boat reversing in as parallel as possible.

    • @jordanjones.5671
      @jordanjones.5671 Před 8 lety

      exactly, the reason wy you cant see the wake from the bow thrusters is becouse he is using it to prevent a collission with that other boat on his starboard side.

  • @BaronBoy100
    @BaronBoy100 Před 9 lety +2

    For all those saying this boat has a bow thruster I suggest you have a look at the manufacturers spec sheet. Absolutely no mention of any bow thruster. Still not convinced, just Google photographs of it out of the water, not a bow thruster to be seen on any of them. This was just good boat handling using twin outboard motors.

    • @dieselfueler
      @dieselfueler Před 9 lety +2

      You can buy and install bow thrusters to about any boat without too much trouble.. It does not matter how this boat rolled off the line.

    • @bbjuneau
      @bbjuneau Před 9 lety

      It has bow thrusters. It has the international markings indicating them on the bow.

    • @BaronBoy100
      @BaronBoy100 Před 9 lety

      Jim Craig The international marking is a four bladed propeller inside a circle. Not 3 dots or whatever. I still see no indication that a bow thruster was used or any indication that one was used.

    • @seawalcker
      @seawalcker Před 9 lety +2

      @BaronBoy100 Před 9 lety

      seawalcker There is nothing there to see, no wash from any thruster and besides, the helmsman doesn't need them. Look where the boat starts from. Its nearly lined up with the dock to begin with. Perfectly simple to finish the alignment with normal steering and engine management.

    My two cents: it ALWAYS looks easier than it is--and this one does not even look easy. Zero wind, sure no one said different, but still did you notice they had such good control Cap didn't even put guys on deck. For me, an admitted amateur, I put the crew on every damn corner-just in case, cause I'm NOT that good, but am a cautious fellow. In heavy wind, I'll bet even this Cap would put people out there--cause wind can shift so suddenly and better to have people at the corners and not need them, then the other way around. Am I right Captain?

  • @MrMikewr
    @MrMikewr Před 11 lety

    I can see how you might misinterpret the wash but I don't understand how you cannot hear the bow thruster, the sound is very audible. The symbol is a white three bladed prop on the hull below the fenders.
    Do a youtube search for "Kingfisher 3325" then click on the 3rd video down and you can see the light shine through the bow thruster tunnel at 00:28 as the boat passes the camera.

    Since this argument persists, I'm trying to figure out HOW anyone can see bow thrusters 'clearly'? IF he used bow thrusters he would have been thrusting on the port side, NOT the starboard! All you are seeing is the wake from the reverse outboard engines. He would have had the engines turned all the way to port, causing thrust to be visible on the starboard side. NOT thrust on the starboard, he wouldn't have wanted the front of the boat that direction. THINK!!
