Similar to Denmark: I'm also getting tired of foreigners coming in saying "People are so closed off here, I can't make any friends".
I actually asked an American the other day how he likes it and this was one of the things he pointed out. I asked him if he tried communal dinners, sports, bars. No to all of them.
He literally just stays at home with his wife after work.
I understand that people in many places of America have an easy time interacting in stores, busses, streets whatever else. The social relations you make over actual events in scandinavia will earn you friends for life if you want it. You have to try though.

Incredible introduction about Norway Boris, all true, same thoughts when I first visited Norway last year for BTG music festival in Bergen, I'm from Canada and I was stunned by the nature and especially environmental protection policies over there, anyway, winter is why Norway is well known for the most epic and darkest black metal in history!🖤

Lidl used to exist in Norway, but Rema 1000 bought all their stores.
CDOn, Komplett etc. is the reason why Amazon won't open store in Norway. Norwegians buy Amazon stuff from either Amazon in UK or Amazon USA.

  • @worbalism
    @worbalism Před 9 měsíci +3

When it comes to Amazon not existing in Norway: they have tried to establish offices in Sweden and Norway, but due to our strict union rules and freedom of unionization, there was a conflict of interest that has made it difficult to establish.
When it comes to the refusal to join EU: most of the opposition comes from norwegian agriculture. So far as I know, if we joined EU then the norwegian agriculture would be forced to follow guidelines and legislations that are written by people outside of Norway, which has been the biggest point of contention with the greater EU.

When it comes to alcohol, Norwegians drink to get drunk, too - it's not really as common to just enjoy a glass of wine to a meal or in the evening. The difference from other countries perhaps being that we get drunk on a regular basis.

I visited Norway for 3 months and Norwegians are really nice. But I was definitely looked at. I have extremely long natural blonde hair and I have been asked about it. A woman talked Norwegian to me and complimented my hair but I'm German. And then she spoke a bit of German it was cute ❤😂
People were generally really welcoming and kind, they say hello to you in the countryside also.
And yes the tap water is great. Tap water in Norway, Switzerland and northern Germany tastes good. In Norway it tasted a bit of ocean like because it's filtered ocean water to my knowledge

I don't think there are many desalination plants in Norway, if any. The water is taken from mountain lakes and cleansed with either chlorination or UV-radiation.
Norway's Western and Northern coasts (up to Troms) is among the wettest areas in Europe, and while the South and South-East receive less precipitation than that - even that is reasonably wet. There is a lot of access to water and an insane amount of lakes.

Just got back from a 4 day business trip to Oslo. Got to walk a lot around the city. The architecture is perfect. Sadly though, no time to travel to the outskirts and visit the nature.
Norge people were private, as you said, but at the same time most of them were welcoming and polite. The nightlife is also crazier than I expected, they are heavy drinkers for sure.
This trip was probably one of the best experiences so far in my life. Hopefully I get to come back some time soon so that I can travel across Norway some more.
P.S. Visiting Noseblod was a tick off my bucket list, felt unreal from the moment I saw the store from the outside. Absolutely insane.

I must say... I've been watching BorisT on CZcams for some time now, but haven't really, until now, listened to Tryglav.
My mind was blown, a couple of decades ago, my favourite blackmetal record by the Swedish band Naglfar, the album was called vittra, was released.
But the singer was replaced by the next record and it didn't really suit me as good (still very good... but not AS good).

I feel you as a Mediterranean (vegan) fellow metalhead. Struggling with my professional goals here in Spain and done with living in a big city, I´m considering another adventure abroad, and Norway definitely seems like the most appealing country to me for obvious reasons, though I think it can be tough to find a "cool" job there as a non-Norwegian speaker, for what I´ve already found on the internet, regardless that any salary there will be higher than what I could earn here. We´ll see brother, amazing video as always! Cheers (anyways we´ll meet in Midgardsblot)

I actually visited Norway this summer with my family, sadly only south, still was absolutely beautiful up there. We went to a small holiday house near Mandal, nice city but I missed the metal. Also to me as a german, the modern, working technology was a welcome surprise. Sadly, where I went was a special place for torists, so I talked more german than english the whole trip, also because the fishing store guy (who was just a gigachad, shoutout to Mandal's fishing store guy) spoke gernan😂. Definitely cool country, bit expensive though, might have been tourist prices but still high in city as well

What about Ebay, Boris? Do they have it in Norway? Also, there is a big difference between a foreigner metalhead who hangs out in the metal scene and would find friendly and welcoming people and an expat who decides to relocate to Norway. Apparently, if you are not fluent with the language and got no degree/skills, it would be very tough to obtain a job or even to integrate socially.

Haha, that's cool! Still, fair play to you for even having the balls to do this, it would be a major block for permanent settlement if it was me!

You're lucky that you are able to get pure, tap water to drink from the faucet while our water pipes aren't that great. We have to resort in using a filter to drain out any contaminants just to get a drink of water. And it costs money just to find the right kind that actually works while finding the exact filters aren't easy whenever they are in stock or not.

I’ve always wanted to visit. I’m fascinated with the country, the culture & the legends. I’m not big into black metal, I am a Christian, but I’m fascinated by the history & the culture of it. I love all kinds of music, but heavy metal is my favorite. I love mountains, forests & nature. I think the mythology of trolls & the Viking gods are very interesting. You’re awesome bro!

I just subscribed as I've enjoyed several of your videos. It seems Norway is like Canada's northern communities in many ways. I could see why you would want to live there. It is beautiful and the people are often friendly once you get to know them.
