Huw Edwards has resigned from the BBC, nine months after being suspended over allegations he paid a young person thousands of pounds and receiving explicit pictures. The Times’s Andrew Billen says it’s “extraordinary” the former lead presenter of the News at 10 has left the BBC after 40 years “without a word of thanks”.

I always liked him i think he was never biased rude or evasive. I iwsh him luck in the future.
@@supremepc6298To disagree, I never liked him, now I know why! He was an arrogant so and so. Full of his own importance. Think he was well in, that is why BBC did not take any action until the parents of his victim complained to the newspapers.
Not condoning or decrying his actions as I don’t know enough about the case to form a definitive opinion, but a 55 word statement after 40 odd years of service seems like fairly scant acknowledgment from the BBC to me.
He paid a young person does that mean they were underage?

@@vatsmith8759 So what's the issue? Isn't that his private life. Is there more to the story we don't know about?? I've tried to look and found out it's a 17yr old male. Did he use his position and status to co-op the individual into sending the pictures or just strictly payment for pictures. I know OF is far worst that's why I ask.

Why not state the plain fact that it was a young man? In the modern age homosexuals expect and are entitled to be treated as everyone else; there is no need for kid-gloves, he acted in a very dubious way with a vulnerable younger man, other potential victims need to be made aware. 👍

He's been on sick leave after unproven allegations were made against him..

So many surprises I thought all the truth would have been exposed by the bbc “ investigation team” they do great work usually exposing wrong doings in other agencies……perhaps they are still working on it after the the other investigation on going into JS ….rest my case 😂😂😂😂

It is not as though he had any choice. He was pushed out.
The BBC could have been brave and stuck by him, while he recovers. They clearly did not care enough.
