- Ganhaizi Bridge is located in Shimian County, Ya'an, Sichuan on the Ya (An) Lu (Gu) Expressway. It has a total length of 1811 meters, a bridge width of 24.5 meters, and a total of 36 spans. It is the longest steel tube truss girder highway bridge in the world. The main structure of the bridge is made of steel fiber concrete, which is the first case in the history of bridge construction in the world. Sichuan Province has the longest mileage, the largest investment, and has created many world records. So far, the Jingkun Expressway has been fully connected across the 1,045 kilometers in Sichuan Province.
After the completion of the Qianhaizi Bridge, it will drive on it as if it were in the "cloud". It was officially opened to traffic on April 28, 2012. The Jingkun Expressway, a national trunk expressway, realizes the full highway in Sichuan, shortening the distance from Chengdu to Xichang to 420 kilometers, and it can be reached by self-driving in 5 hours. This saves about half of the time compared to the past. The completed Xipan Expressway is enough, and the whole journey takes only 6 hours.
As the Ganhaizi Bridge has entered winter with low temperatures and the road surface is slippery and easy to accumulate snow, snow removal vehicles and other emergency rescue equipment will be equipped in the future. At the same time, the guardrails on both sides are 30 centimeters higher than ordinary high-speed guardrails to prevent vehicles from rushing out of the bridge. In addition, the piers of the bridge also adopted a unique air pipe design, which reduced the weight of the piers. The seismic intensity of the bridge was designed to be 9 degrees.

Actually, it might be an engineering feat but it is ugly. I'd rather they cut the groove in the mountain for a roadway and make it a scenic drive than build this abomination. Any above ground structure on land tends to look ugly in the future.

Exactly, makes me think of construction today.
In a small town in CT, USA, many years ago when a small town stopped the construction of a highway from passing through the town. It meant destroying over hundred year old trees, which were special type of trees, so the town went to court, and the court ruled in the people's favor.
So, even today, when traveling on that highway, all vehicles have to drive off the highway and travel through the main Street until they passed the small town, then get back on the highway.
People who know of the story would look in the direction of the town and get a bit upset. Be that as it may, the town was able to preserve its quaintness and small town way of life, which they can pass down from generation to generation.

The Biden Admin in the US struggling to even pass a simple infrastructure bill to UPDATE existing roads and bridges so they don't keep collapsing like that tower in FL Meanwhile China is building these impressive world class structures that boggle the mind in scope and construct. And to make matters worse, the US is so obsessed with Wall Street that nobody wants to be an engineer anymore, or anything to do with STEM related jobs, so they require scores of brilliant young immigrants to do that work for them. While at the same time, the US and the west are enamored once again of #xenophobia, that prevents that wealth of intelligent capital from crossing the borders. This is why China will continue to lead the world's economy and the US Empire will end up in a collapsed dung heap of failure.

Haven't heard of people diving into shark infested waters to leave the US, or visa tourism from US to China. It's the other way around. Women visit the US have babies for citizen status, etc etc. Others come in as students H1 visas etc and then at the end of their stay do not want to return home.What are we missing?

What this video does not note is that the upper viaduct (a viaduct is a bridge over land) enters a 1.15 mile long spiral tunnel that exits to the lower roadway. An incredible engineering achievement.
