The new no-sync feature is FINALLY added and is definitely a key step in turning MS into an industry standard, but there are still MAJOR missing native features that are pretty easy to add.
Large time signatures, score condensing, piano roll editing (this used to exist, did it get deleted??), movie connecting for film scoring, custom measure numbers or sub measure (for musical theater usually), score labels showing 1st and 2nd instrument both on a single staff, aleatoric support or the ability to put custom shapes without the relative positioning screwing up when the score auto formats. Etc etc

@@Jwellsuhhuh Among them, the "piano roll editing" function will be reflected in 4.3 as early as possible. 4.3 will be released in 2024, and I'm looking forward to it.

I do hope someone from Musescore reads this... I appreciate all the incredible effort towards building MuseScore 4.2, as a guitarist who's been eagerly awaiting bends. HOWEVER.... it's still not quite there :/ oftentimes bends will go up & the guitarist, as the note's being held, slightly releases the tension of the bend, bringing the string back to an "unbent" or "less bent" state. In Musescore 3, you can easily do this, adding multiple nodes for the bend, but it's still not possible with MuseScore 4.2, which is really disappointing. I don't really understand why Musescore would force just a few set types of bends, locking you into only 2 nodes on the pitch graph. It's just trying to model the "real world", and in the real world not all bends are perfectly 1/4 step, without any release, or a full-step without any release. Again I really laud the efforts of the open-source devs & love that aspect of Musescore, but I'll be sticking with Musescore 3

Thanks for continuing to improve this product! I use it all the time - two small things that would make a big difference for me are:
    1. Being able to put a tie on the last note of a measure before a repeat sign, which is then tied to the first note of the measure you’re repeating to. In practice this looks like a tie to nowhere, but it’s something I often want to do in a jazz context. I currently work around this with a slur, but it’s not ideal.
    2. When inputting chord symbols, Sibelius had a nice feature where you could hit the tab key to skip to the start of the next measure. I really miss this feature as it allowed me to transcribe chords in real time as the recording of a song was playing.

I'm hoping that the new guitar library will be able to handle dead notes for bass. In previous versions, it is easy to mark the notehead as being a dead(ghost) note, but it still sounds as if it was a normal note. One can silence that note, but again, that isn't what a ghostnote should sound like. Fingers crossed.

AWESOME!! Detaché bowing for strings really needs to be added! It is so important to music of many genres. A tempo is very convenient I always had to just add back the same tempo marking I was working with originally, make it invisible and add "a tempo" as expression text (Ctrl + E)

As an open letter from the marching percussion community, we would LOVE this. MDL made drumline composing accessible to so many students and teachers and having that be compatible with the improved version of musescore would blow the roof off the marching game!

Wow! I'm blown away by each update recently. This is the best notation software around. You've gone beyond any expectations again and again.
Now that you own Noteflight, will you be incorporating some of their Noteflight Learn 'education' features into MuseScore? Specifically the sharing of templates made by teachers and sharing within groups? I'm keen to transition our 300 students and staff across to MuseScore once those kind of features appear.

I started using MuseScore WAY back!! I remember composing classical guitar pieces on the software around 20 years ago. I play classical guitar, so that is all I composed for at the time. Now I use it to compose all sorts of music all the way up to orchestral music. However, I am very excited to see the new features for guitar!!! I like doing hybrid compositions using guitars with orchestra, and this will be fantastic!! I look forward to working with the new features.

Linux Mint comes with the cinammon desktop by default. For someone getting into Linux I would suggest trying it on a VM and seeing if you like it
