The first couple of Tremors movies are pure fun. Even though they’re silly, they have a special place in my heart. Great affects and solid horror tension for 1990.
Every movie up to and including Tremors 7 have things I like about them (except Tremors 6; that one doesn't do anything great for me).
"Maybe there's a sequel?"
Seven films and a TV series.
7???? Wait what! I only watched the first 3 as a kid I think! Loved them but I thought that was it lol a trilogy
@@mitchyman528 1 prequel and yeah 5 sequels
@@mitchyman528 most are direct to video quality. They are watchable but not great.
@@mitchyman528 Yup, Tremors 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7 were in-order sequels, Tremors 4 is more accurately a prequel since it took place in the more-distant past... there are neat things about most of them in my opinion except Tremor 6 didn't seem that great to me but just my opinion.
The chemistry among the actors turned a typical 1950s horror movie into an extremely entertaining film. The dynamic between Earl and Val alone makes the audience invested.
This movie could have been bad, or so bad it's good, but everyone involved did their job and did it well and it turned out legitimately good. This movie is practically flawless.
@@jawbone78 I agree. There isn't a single misstep in the film.
Val and Earl are so funny :D
I'm having trouble finding links, but this movie is so well crafted it's used as an example of a perfect movie in film schools. Every scene cohesively connected. Either foreshadowing future events, or makes a callback to previous scene. There is nary a wasted line of diologue. The affects are simple, but packs a punch. Every idea makes sense for the scene that it's in. Unlike the majority of monster movies where every character seems to make the worst decisions.
I literally search for reactions to this movie a couple times a month, just to watch people who have never heard of this movie, gush over how good it is. And it never fails, 99% of new viewers love it.
"Broke into the wrong goddamn rec room, didn't ya you bastard!"
Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Reba McEntire.
Mislabeled Fact: Part of the backlash this movie got (and currently gets), is that people judge the movie on the mislabeled "horror" genre. It's a "creature feature" movie, which is a subgenre of action/adventure.
Genesis Fact: S.S. Wilson said that he got the idea for the film while he was working for the U.S. Navy in the California desert. While resting on a rock, he imagined what it might be like if something underground kept him from getting off the rock.
Land Jaws Fact: When Chang (Victor Wong) is partially swallowed by the Graboid, it swerves back and forth before drawing back under the ground. It's almost identical to the scene near the end of Jaws (1975) where Quint (Robert Shaw) slides into the mouth of the giant shark and it swings back and forth with him in its mouth before sliding back into the water.
Gun Enthusiast Fact: Burt (Michael Gross) and Heather (Reba McEntire) used the following firearms to kill the Graboid that burst into their rec room: Stey-Mannlicher SSG-PII, Winchester model 70, Winchester Model 1200 Defender, HK91A2, Colt AR-15 Sporter II, Remington 870, Sig Sauer P226, Ruger Redhawk, M8 flare gun, and then finally Burt finishes it off with a Belgian William & Co. 8 gauge shotgun (The Elephant Gun).
But creature feature is a sub genre of horror…
As a child, I didn't play "the floor is lava", my friends and I played "graboids" because of these movies😊
Dang, this takes me back. I was 13 in 1990 and loved this movie, and it's still fun to watch today. You got humor, horror, action, suspense... what more do you need other than popcorn? So glad you reacted to it!
7:21 We have scene the doctor, though not his wife. That's the doctor that said Edgar died of dehydration. You can see the half built house in the background of the earlier scene.
This movie is still a classic brother. Such a classic. I grew up watching this movie more times than I can count. It's very iconic! And Kevin Bacon was in plenty of movies before this. He was in footloose and one of the Jason movies too. Such a great actor
They explained how long dehydration takes to kill you when they pulled the dead guy off the electric tower.
I would definitely watch Tremors 2. Fred Ward returns as Earl and the actor passed away a while back.
You should also check out this horror movie Kevin Bacon was in called Stir of Echoes (1999). It’s directed by David Koepp who was the screenwriter for Jurassic Park, Spider-Man, War of the Worlds, & many other popular films.
Will add it to the watchlist!
Stir of echoes is chaotic. One of my favorite Kevin bacon films
Love, Stir of Echos.
Great movie, and underrated IMO. Or at least under-appreciated. I think maybe it didn't hit because the plot was superficially similar to The Sixth Sense, and maybe people thought it was a knockoff? But it is great in its own right.
Kevin Bacon was also in Flatliners, a good horror film
Pogo girl, Ariana Richards, better known as Lex in Jurassic Park, is an amazing painter.
Underground god-damn monsters! I love Tremors, it's one of my favourite films. The monsters are dangerous but not unstoppable, with both the people and the Graboids learning about each other. It's a battle of wits with the people being pretty smart about it rather than the plot being driven by them being idiots. Also interesting as a rare horror film set almost entirely in bright sunlight. The sequels are great too, definitely worth watching too, and even the TV series is fun, even if it's a bit wackier than the films.
Totally agree about the hoof trimming videos, dude. The Hoof GP is my go-to. They're oddly relaxing, like a weird ASMR lol
Please tell me your gonna continue with these 😂 I love these movies and I’m honestly a little surprised more people haven’t seen them they hold a special place in my heart lol plus who doesn’t love Burt 💙
0:40 Remember Kevin Bacon was in the original Friday the 13th.
Edit: Just saw you remembered at the end.
"Looks like the inside of a pumpkin"... I seem to remember in a behind-the-scenes film, they did mention they used pumpkin pie for graboid guts lol.
0:55 I looked Ron Underwood up. He’s directed a few movies but he mostly directs for TV. He did 5 episodes of Fear the Walking Dead & 1 episode of Tales of the Walking Dead.
Oh wow, I had no idea he worked on some Walking Dead stuff
After this film he directed _City Slickers_ which was a massive hit, one of the biggest movies of that year. I'm honestly surprised he didn't become a top tier director after these two films. I mean he kept working obviously, but at the time I thought he was going to become a bigger name.
You: Kevin Bacon's been in a TON of movies.
Hence the game "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon". Great reaction to a great movie!
Ever since this movie first came out when I was four years old, Earl always reminded me of my daddy. WAY too much, if you ask me.
Movie is so much fun and I think the follow up Tremors 2 is just as good, I recommend a watch of at least that one.
(It’s amazing how much this guy looks like a young Lou Diamond Phillips 😊)
Awesome reaction of my favorite movie!!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Yea there are definitely sequels. And one prequel. You should do the whole franchise. It’s really a fun marathon. There’s 7 films and one season of a tv show. I grew up watching this with my dad. It’s got a special place in my heart.
Nice, I watch this one every time it’s on tv, it has a great story, it,s funny and Kevin Bacon is 🔥, another great movie with him (underrated if you ask me) is Flatliners, it has a great cast including Kiefer Sutherland and Julia Roberts, trust me, you will like it!
You gotta see the second one it's a classic
My friend and I bought this VHS from a garbage sale when we were around 10. Had a blast but freaked us out! Haha. Classic film.
Looking forward to your reaction to Tremors 2: Aftershocks, from 1996.
Hey. Just found your channel. Wanted to say, big fan of Tremors, love seeing people's first time watching it. It's not the best movie of all time, but it's a perfect movie; the music, actors/performances, story, cinematography, special effects, it's all done fantastically well.
There is a sequel, several actually, and as others have said, I'll toss my two cents in without spoilers or plot:
Tremors 2 is definitely worth watching, on your own or for your channel. It's not as good as 1, but it's a solid sequel.
After that, they are very hit or miss in quality, and generally go downhill. However, most fans watch it for the recurring character and actor who returns, which is a guilty pleasure for most.
So all in all, highly recommend Tremors 2, after that? Go in with low expectations and just try to have fun.
One of my all time favorite horror-comedies! Thanks for watching it! 😊
the fourth movie is a prequel , the tv show wasnt too bad till they kept cutting the budget back. theres six or seven movies and this first few movies was e practical effects, even the dirt tunneling was practical, they shoved a camera up a tube of dirt if i recall right.
your comment about the World War III thing it was on everybody's mind during the 70s and 80s especially the 80s... there was a miniseries called the day after if you ever get a chance, watch it, but it changed things for lots of people... so much so I used to have nightmares all the time when I was a kid.. like that Sarah, Connor in terminator two dream we all had it .. that's also why it was added to the movie it was relatable... still get them once in a while, but not like i used to.. you tend to worry about that less as you get older.. pretty crazy to think I'll be 50 in a few months
You should check out Twister 1996 with Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt in it, then after that reaction to that movie react to the trailer for the new movie Twisters coming out this summer in July
Bacon has said he wants to do a sequel to this but it has to have a Hollywood budget and not cheap straight video sequels that the current ones were
-one of bacons best performances was in “the woodsman” . Subject matter is unsettling but he shines in it
There are 6 more movies and one season of a tv show! My mom’s favorite movie ever and in my top 5, so much nostalgia from this. I have a tattoo of a quote from Burt when he and Heather were in their underground rec room 😅
Back in the day, monsters had to be simulated by special effects, which were really expensive and often weren't that convincing. So there tended to be just glimpses of them, seeing more and more until the end. Early in the first Godzilla movie, they simulate the monster attacking a fishing boat by showing the boat and a lot of turbulent water - no creature. In another scene, the scientists suddenly realize the depression they are standing in is really the gigantic footprint of the beast. This leads to suspense building through most of the movie.
With CGI, effects are so much easier and can easily fill the entire screen, so they don't even need to build a scale monster for the guy in the rubber lizard suit can stomp around in. So lots of explosions, etc. that don't require much acting and no script, cover up a lot of plot holes. And the audience sees so much of the monster(s) that toward the finale, the story verges into melodrama.
30:34 - yeah, there are several sequels and a solid fanbase.
Another good Kevin Bacon film would be "death sentence" preferably the unrated Extended Cut..its also directed by james wan
My uncle's name is Valentine because he was born on Valentine's Day. Pretty cool.
They're going to get eat'n is cracking me up lol
There are about six of these and there are amazing the rest are a must watch
You know how they say that sometimes, the second movie is better than the first? Tremors is an exception to that. The first is significantly the best. Both Kevin Bacon and Reba McEntire have some of the best sarcastic comebacks in this whole movie.
Side note: The little girl with the pogo stick was played by Ariana Richards, who's best known as Lex Murphy from Jurassic Park.
Great movie...i loved it whenw young i was young
19:59 it was the 1980s
The Soviet Union was a credible threat because they were very close to using nukes on the U.S
Burt and Heather were ready for ww3 but it never came
Its why they had so many guns What burt killed it with was Elephant Gun
He gets an upgrade in Tremors 2 Aftershocks
As someone else said you should watch, Stir of Echos, i love that movie. Death Sentence, also with Kevin Bacon, is also a good movie, not a horror, well i guess it depends on how you look at it, but anyway I really like it, not one of his most known movies though. You will need the tissues ready for both of these movies 😢 imo. Just wanted to say I've been subscribed to your channel for a long time now and I love your reactions, especially TWD reactions, anyway looking forward to future reactions 👍
Yes to the Death Sentence recommendation! Saw it once a few years ago but I remember really enjoying it.
I love the first two after the movies just too silly
Such a good movie.
Val:🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨
Earl: 😐😳🙄
Recommend Sleepers
Kevin Bacon, Brad Pitt, Robert De Niro, etc.👍🏻👍🏻
For a Bacon film I suggest Cop Car.
I think you have seen the original Friday The 13th, Kevin Bacon is in that and that's 10 years older than this. There's actually SEVEN Tremors films, though most have been direct to video. The first was in theaters. Jamie Kennedy from Scream is in a bunch and Jon Heder from Napoleon Dynamite was in the last one. You should check out 2 at least, that one is also good and has different monsters.
"Tremors": The B-movie that rose to A-level with combination of Humor, Horror and Romance. Kevin Bacon made "Tremors" during a low point in his career and was "Yeah, I made 'Tremors." These days, he says "Hell Yeah I made 'Tremors!" 8:28 Yep, Practical EFX make DFX look cheap by comparison. 18:31 Uh-oh, you're doing an "Alexander Dane," wondering what is the Graboid's motivation.;) "Who is that?" you say? He's an interesting character from "Galaxy Quest" (1999). Watch better movies and skip the so-so TV series. 19:25 I've read that the town of "Perfection" was a built-for-the-movie set.
Oh yeah there are sequels. 1-3 are great. 4 is a prequel and it's good. 5-7 go downhill but are still fun.
Yup- just looking for food...and not only likes to eat people but also sheep and probably "whatever"- remember earlier in the movie? ;)
Please watch the other movies in the franchise too... they can get cheesy later, but this Franchise is always a hoot, the next two at least are worth it.
Yeah there are six sequels. Three by the same team that made this and three by universal with no input by the series creators although 5 was made using a retool of an unused script by them. As you can imagine fans are divided on when they stopped being good.
I suggest reacting to the sequels at least their number four
RON UNDERWOOD MOVIES ARE GREAT
Tremors 2 is really good also
A fun, campy little movie.
One of the best B movies I had seen in a long while.
Check out Kevin Bacon in Apollo 13!
I recommend Critters franchise and the Blob 💜
Oh yeah, there’s more. There’s six straight to video sequels.
Who drank all the Root Beer?!
This movie did spawn multiple sequels a prequel and a series, but in my personal opinion, the 2nd and 4th(which is the prequel) are the only ones that are any good. The others just made my brain hurt by how bad they are.
Funny that you mention it, no, in the US there is not enough actual security for the job, it is also based on the way how US drives their power network, it cant be powered off so easily, a lot of work must be done more active. Around 150 Linemen die every year in US, a number far lower in other western civilizations, because of them actually doing cutting off power easily everywhere. There is actually a movie "Linemen" which shows that topic a bit, but its funny that americans rather make a movie about it, instead of asking themselves "can we do something to make the job less dangerous?" It is kinda pathetic if you think about it.
There is a sequel heck there's like 7 movie's
Please react to the 2nd and 3rd ones. Both are great.
Add Burt Gummer to COD2024
That would be amazing! Or at the very least, put him in Fortnite or something. Throw us a bone!
Check out Stir of Echoes for more Kevin Bacon horror!
Please react to trimmers 2 aftrisha.I think you'll like it
❤❤❤
There are multiple sequels. Tremors 2 and Tremors 3 are entertaining but the remaining sequels aren’t worth watching.
You've seen Kevin Bacon in Friday the 13th right?
He has. He mentioned it at the end of the video.
The first 4 movies are worth a watch... after that Meh
But legit 1-4 are great
2sequels are good to
React to second movie
21:26 - 21:30
Since you talking about movies only good when mechanical monsters.
One thing cringe seeing in movies is each character separate celebration when monster is killed like thug time stamp moment it's just so ugh when movies so it. I understand we got to show relief that characters are winning or the danger for the moment is over but seeing cheering celebration each frame is editing being too much like in the real world we gonna wait for each of us to celebrate no it's closet to unison.
WATCH THE SEQUEL PLEASE! Almost nobody reacts to it, but the sequel is great and flesh's out the world even more.
