  • Medicines help to treat illness within the body, but what if we replaced filling a prescription with filling our bags at the farmer’s market with foods that can heal our bodies from the inside out? Dr. William Li, world-renowned physician, scientist, TED speaker, and author of “Eat To Beat Disease," joins this episode to share just how much food can impact our health.
Dr. William Li provides his definition of being healthy, tips for kickstarting your health journey, and how there are five health defense systems that are crucial to our bodies. He also explains why we should explore new foods, especially in retirement, and lists foods and beverages that can be toxic to our diet. Additionally, Dr. Li shares an in-depth explanation of angiogenesis and why it’s vital to the maintenance of our body and defending our health. We wrap up with Dr. Li sharing how he takes a scientific approach to unlocking foods' nutrients as medicine and he reveals what the future looks like for discovering these healthy foods.

I can’t absorb enough of Dr Li’s talks. I’ve got him in my ear many hours a day teaching me his ways. Over 5 years ago I was Dx with stage 3 Ovarian Cancer, with 2 inherited gene mutations. LIVE by his teachings, along with taking a Parp Inhibitor. And now I need to plan a trip to Greece, especially the town he mentioned. I need a get away from my real life. Too bad I have to drag my head along for this trip away. 🤪

My wholehearted gratitude to Dr. Li ! After reading Dr Li's book, Eat to Beat Disease and listening to his talks, I got a farmland in a pristine land to grow a variety of foods with natural manure.

I just rushed into the pantry and opened a pack of walnuts that i bought but haven’t eaten. Two handfuls- I’m your mothers, age. I’ve been holding off the chemo and radiation for seven years for my breast cancer and now you’ve told me about your mothers good luck so that makes me happy. Thanks.

I am really enjoying this interview! It’s an example of how a conversation with a regular person can go when talking about these complex processes in the body; the reason that’s important is because I like to share information with non medical people and his explanations are easy for all people to understand! Thank you both for doing this!

Luckily didn’t manage to throw him off track too much.

Kalamata olives would be great in your salad also and maybe a cucumber. And some beets. I like a pepperoncini pepper now and then too or banana pepper. But the Kalamata olives are divine you can add a little feta not a lot cuz it's salty.

If you're going to add honey you may as well dip it in sugar. Honey is almost all fructose which is worse than sugar. At least sugar is only fifty percent fructose. The body has no use for it, it just makes you fat.

@@SoulfoodSeminars Clearly you don't understand what fructose is. Sorry, it comes from the flowers and the plants, it's perfectly natural just as sugar is. Sugar is half fructose and half glucose. Fructose however is no good for the human body.
