I am learning so much from you. Thank you. Many times in the past I have paid good money for art classes that are suppose to be for beginners or intermediate students, only to find quickly that it was WAY over my head. Every time, I have gone to a few classes and eventually given up, feeling like an "art failure." But I started watching your videos a few months ago and have painted some things I really like. Importantly, I am LEARNING from you. I realized that you have a master plan for your channel, so I am now going through the quests in order. I am completely blown away! I am "getting it" now. I just want to thank you for the bottom of my he"art", Cinnamon. It means so much to me and I am so grateful to you, and to John as well for doing this, and for the loving way you present it. Thank you.
Yes to still life, love love love still life. Thank you!
I love your feed so much, I just lost my mom and you have inspired me to push forward and paint again. I want more still life's . Your FABULOUS AND MADE ME SMILE😁👏🏻
Thank you so much for painting the Grisaille Technique. I didn't even know anything about 'Grisaille' at all. Didn't know it had a name. I am so far behind in our 'art quest'. I missed the self portrait information. I love learning about the grey scale, too. Always confused about tints, tones and shades. Now, thanks to you and this art quest I can practice step by step and actually know what it is I'm trying to accomplish in a painting.
It was a good lesson. More still life's ? Yes pls. Painting a steel bowl of fruits.
I don't know why I thought there wouldn't be a LIVE show today. My bad.

I think the Grisaille process is so interesting, even just a gray scale painting without the glazing of other colors is great. I love the contrasts between the darkest tones and the lightest. I think in the beginning ( of the painting journey) people get stumped by color, but gray tones can not only be a great teacher of tonal values, but it can be liberating when you don't have to worry about color. I did a color stick on wc paper of 9 shades of gray with black being at the top and white at the bottom It really helps with the in between tones that you just can't seem to get otherwise, especially as a beginner. .

There is a CZcams artist, Vic Harris who has done some wonderful portraits with the Grisaille method. I'm really liking the direction of these videos. It's been a long time since I did oil painting, but that's where I learned about acrylic gray scale under painting. Two thumbs up. And thumbs up to John and his goal. A year in a day. If you believe,,,,,,
I would definitely be up for more still life paintings.....I learned SOOOO MUCH from doing this one even although I chose to keep mine in grayscale. You make EVERYTHING achievable. I had no idea that I could do this. :)))))
I am so glad I found you (via thefrugalcrafter)! Watching your videos, I think of how it's so much like doing the cake decorating at work. We reproduce cake designs from the cake books for customers. I think art party and sip'n'paint is a fantastic purpose for recreating paintings. I thought making art was mostly for mass media and museums. Thank you!
Yes for still life paintings!!!!
I had so much fun and learned a lot doing this painting! Thank you, Cinnamon and John!
You are so welcome
Would love more still life. Loved this tutorial.
I LOVED this painting. So much more fun than I thought it was going to be to paint in black and white. I didn't know I could really paint all by myself until I did this.
I love this! Yes to still life only because I am emotionally challenged by them and need to work through it! Still life flowers would be my vote. By the way it was pretty cool images of you when the stream was braking up! Maybe John can capture one to paint !
Yes to still life! This was really good lesson
DEAR ART SHERPA LOVE YOUR WORK ESPECIALLY, THE GRISAILLE PAINTING MORE PLEASE, JOYCE ENGLAND

As always, this is an informative and fun video to watch. You offer VALUABLE guidance and advice. Thank you Cinnamon, THE Art Sherpa. Thank you, John, for being a great, fun contributor to the dialogue, as well as all the stunt work. :-)

I have been waiting for this tutorial since you put it up, I have a picture almost ready to go with the glazing and didn't want to attempt it till you taught it. I LOVE this technique. Now I feel like I can try it. Thank you so much for yet another brilliant tutorial xx

+Sue Clark HEHE i get that
Absolutely wonderful. I have been trying to figure out how to do this on my own with no success thank you. Yes I would love to see more grisaille painting lessons, any subject will do. Excellent lesson!

You are amazing❤
big art quest theartsherpa.com/groups/the-big-art-quest
This was amazing Cinnamon.
Thank you so so much
YES for still life
Finally got added to pmp by using outlook instead of aol. Yippee and woohoo. I don't care what kind of paintings we do. The apple is only my third painting EVER after the pears and I did the popart pug. It's not like yours but it's not bad either. I am still learning to SEE shades, colors, shapes, etc. But I get a little better each time. Thanks you for these classes.
this is awesome can't wait to do it...yes bowl of fruit or any other still life would be very helpful
+jean melio VERY cool
Cinnamon I am so glad that you did some really close-up shots of your painting. I am new to painting and it has answered a very important question for me: I have been concerned about the fact that when I am painting I can see the cross-grains of the canvas through my brush strokes. I now know that this is normal for painting on canvas. :)
Yup completely normal!!!
I got one of the Goldilocks Brushes! I feel special!!
That is awesome
Don't know if this is too late but yes definitely more still lifes
after the comcast rewire i had to have done i made the end of the stream!
a still life tea pot and tea cut.. or a table set or little girls tea party would be an amazing painting.
+flame gremlin yes teapot! Love teapots
(big sigh) GORGEOUS
+Sassi Katt Thank you
Thank you💜
Welcome and art hugs
I would love to paint more still life!! This is awesome shwaresome! I would love me some bowl of fruit painting to hang in my kitchen!
What about painting statues like buddha head next to a vase of flowers?
still life of glass and reflective stuff n softer textures vs hard objects
I like this still life painting..It would be good if you can teach how to directly paint from apple or any other object.I am just curious to learn about capturing of light and getting that on the canvas.
+khushbu agarwal Yes lots of fun
Am I the only one absolutely terrified by this mini quest??!!
HI CINNAMON lol, stopped TO LOOK at It tought IT was My connections, but yes should do more ;-)
Hahaha. I've watched this video several times and have just seen the shape of Africa in the shape of Cinnamon's leaf. Too funny.
Hehehe thank you
This is so off topic, it could be the color is a little off on my cell phone which is what I'm watching this video on, but your apron makes it look like your bubbies grew tiny little friend bubbies! lol. Great video and tutorial!!
Oh boy. I thought you were saying "this EYEBALL" when you held up the painting. And then I started hearing "APPLE". I was so confused, because my mind started seeing an eyeball instead of an apple. Good thing I wasn't available for the live and didn't embarrass myself in the chat. hehe
+Moma Green WE would have had tons and tons of fun
LOL I know! I love being there for the live! But I work 12 hour night shifts :( I feel like I know everybody already. Thanks for expending sooo much time and energy to teach us!!
Gives a meaning to apple of your eye.
😊😊😊😊
I looked for a brush on amazon UK for one brush was 45.00 . love your tutorials x
That is TOOOOOOO MUCH for that brush. Look for a quality brush maker that had good firm brushes for Acrylic. I like Silver Brush limited
bowls of fruit....or lemons n limes👏
+suzanne hunter love bowls of fruit
can I use liquitex professional gloss medium and varnish for the glazing? ps. could these painting isles be ANY more confusing?!?! I have the one I am asking about. love this btw.
+suzanne hunter I know what you mean
thank you. now I know how to fix up a painting I did a wile back
+Charlie Christianson That is great to read
im down for painting a still live...maybe things we all could create from home...maybe a little help in the design of still lifes so we can do more by ourselves
This was done 2 years ago. I was hoping you have done more paintings using this technique. If so what is the names of them so I can find them?.....If not....PLEASE DO MORE.....Yes more still life. lol lol Great job.
I think you might like this in depth still life playlist of a very complete lesson it was one of my best i feel. czcams.com/play/PLXUkNk1HRolHl_vOqHdS_fXl8InrgGWPn.html
hi, i did the grisaille in oil , i scraped oft the fine lines, but thats not OK or because that will change the endresult?
I sometimes use my "leftovers" to prep a background canvas.
Cinnamon I have a question. I have done a real lot of your tutorials already and see that it is all layers. My problem with starting one of my own design is not knowing what I need for under painting to achieve the great results that you get. I see it while I am following you but on my own I am lost. Will this be something you will touch on through this quest?
what if i do not have the store bought glaze you used...is there something else that could be used instead?
I missed what kind of pencil you use for writing wishes on your canvas before painting.
I found tinted gesso in the art store. What is this for? Could this be used for Gray scale?
+Caroline Glen Gesso can be used for grey scale. It is self leveling and will be chalky in its finish. But I know artists that use that to their advantage
What song is playing during the intermission?
How do you get the paint back in the tube?
What is the functional difference between using glazing medium versus gloss medium and varnish? I can get glazing medium, but if it works the same I won't.
Not the same but it will work in a pinch. So glazing medium is made to do this type of project and thins super well. If you can get it I think you will like it. If you want it to also slow paint time you need to get golden glazing Liquid BUT if you are ok with just Glazing you can get Liquitex!
this could get very interesting useing chromatic blacks
What test are you talking about? thanks
wish you had taken it further as i want to learn more but i can’t find any tutorials as good as yours please
Oh am I pleased to read this thank you. I did take a still life much further. Here is the link to the playlist. Not for it though The Naples Yellow I used is easier to find as nickel titanate yellow. Matisse Derivan labels very differently then most paint in the US. You will be super happy this collection :) theartsherpa.com/stilllife1 Have a Ton of fun
I'd like a still life that includes a folded tablecloth, a glass bottle, a metal cup and bread. Because I have trouble with each of these things.
+Michele Cunningham so would i :) and i actually asked about that lol
+Medina Elsayed Count me in, I would very much like a lesson on this.
+Michele Cunningham great idea
Go ahead and do the pear and dandilion
Is there anywhere I can get a copy of this photo other than pmp? I have tried over and over and it just won't let me in. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!
what does the glazing medium do?
The one by Golden slows the drying time and it also glazes! Everyone else's just glazes 💙💖💗
I'm thinking that I want to make a "Cooney Hat"
+Colleen M That would be very very cool
Is it possible to print the photos from PMP If so, how?
what i do i download the image with the download button next to the camera symble on the right ,save it ,then print it out.
+Maria Kellner Thank you! I could not figure out how to do that. Thank you!!
I am not able to post on your Facebook page. No option to write a post or "join". All I can do is "like" and "follow". Puzzled!
You both Crack me up so Bad! You have that friend that just can't identify fruit...like yeah, nice Banana Dude.
You both so make me laugh out loud.
+Jo-Anne Ford :)
I saw in the intro several paintings from your followers, could I email you a couple of photos of mine? Maybe get some advice to improve them?
I am sorry, I do not do art critique outside of my social media, and i don't accept private messages from members. You can share them in my facebook group The Art Sherpa Official. 💜
@@TheArtSherpa thank you I'll look for it
What is under binding?
That is when the paint does not have enough binder to fix to the canvas
+theartsherpa Thanks, I kind of got the idea after I watched some more of the video.
