    I know you posted this video a long while ago, but I just had to leave a comment.
    1. I just purchased this table thanks to your review :) I just quit my job to take up my art career full time and I'd been looking for decent table so thank you for putting this up!
    2. I read the comment about why you keep your nails long and I have to say, it's humbling. I too suffered from the same condition and use to bite my nails bloody due to anxiety. Thanks for sharing that with us, and keep rocking the long nails with pride :D

    • @claybutler
      @claybutler  Před 8 lety +3

      +khia555 Thanks for the comment. I couldn't understand why I couldn't stop biting them. I was just kid and couldn't make the connection between anxiety from abuse and biting my nails. Then when I moved away from my abuser, I suddenly stopped biting them. Then it was crystal clear why I couldn't stop and it had nothing to do with lack of willpower. Even bribes of toys and money and painting my nails with this horrible tasting polish didn't work. Only moving worked.

    just assembled this table about 4 days ago. i had the same problem with the cross bars but figured it out. it was actually a present for my 10 year old daughter who loves to draw and make art! after buying it i have started doing some research to see how others are using it and came across your video! the light bar is a great idea and i will be adding one for her! thanks for the video it was well done.

    $173 at Amazon right now. I've been waiting to buy this drafting table for about 6 months. I finally ordered mine 2 days ago.

    It's rock solid surprisingly. I had that concern but it's solid. You'd never know it's one center joint. So far I don't miss my old light box at all. You can also get a brighter bulb if you want more light.

    That's awesome! I bought a similar glass table and I love it. I like the idea of putting a light under the glass to make it a light table! I'll have to try that one out! Great video!

    I'm using one those standard adjustable office chairs. The clearance from the floor to the bottom of the metal tray is 27 1/2 inches and my seat height is set at 20 inches. There are also four foot discs that you screw in that I assume extend. I have mine set in the whole way in because I like to draw with my feet firmly planted on the floor.

    Love the review and this table is definately the one to get. I woud say also to check out the Lumiy Draftsman LED Desk lamp as a lighting source. I use to use 3 incandescent lamps over my futura, but it was awkward having all these arms and it was hot under them. I made the switch to LED, but brighter, sharper light, and alot cooler.

      +Clay Butler Great tip. =) I picked up a Futura Table and a Lumiy Draftsman LED desk lamp. This is the PERFECT combo. Must have if set if you draft and do design work for a living. Blown away by the set =)

    i was going to by the model without the shelf. you convinced me to get this version. Great review. BTW you can probalby get the the sticker off with a straight razor blade and some wd40.

  • @AwesomeProjects20
    @AwesomeProjects20 Před 10 lety +3

    Use a steamer to remove the stickers. Like you would car window tint. No damages or residue.

    • @dragonkinfolk
      @dragonkinfolk Před 7 lety +1

      A steamer should work well. But if it doesn't, try goo-gone, or goof-off. Both are an oil based adhesive remover that works pretty good. Downside is that they are both oily, but the oil wipes away with some windex or whatever. My sticker came off all in one piece with just a bit of adhesive left behind without using anything tho. Weird. But thanks for the review. I have something similar to this table by the same manufacturer and LOVE it. I'm going to use your suggestion about the cords and the tubing tho. My light box is the same thickness as my wacom tablet so it should velcro up underneath pretty easy too. Again... Thanks!
      I just realized after I wrote this that this post is 3 years old. lol

  • @claybutler
    @claybutler  Před 11 lety

    Yes they are, but this is short for me. I used to wear them longer. Besides being useful I think it goes back to childhood. I was regularly stalked and beaten by a much older and bigger bully from 3rd to 5th grade. I was such a nervous wreck that I would bite my nails till they bleed. I couldn't stop.Then we moved away in 6th grade and my nails started growing again. I suspect that's a contributing factor to my comfort with long nails. I still remember when I couldn't grown them due to abuse.

    one thing, you will get scratches on the glass, I've had mine for a few years and it has scratches now. but I love being able to use it as a light box too.

  • @darkheartkid
    @darkheartkid Před 11 lety

    for those stickers on there, you might wanna try something like super dee gooper, or goof off, that will get all the goo off and leave you with a nice smooth piece of glass, super dee gooper was only about 6$ canadian in the paint isle at wallmart so it will probly be less if your in the states, you can usually find it at hardware stores aswell hope your able to get them off i cant stand stickers like that either lol

    Is it better to use a clear glass table or a white glass table if you want to make the table into a tracing table?
    I wanted to get a white glass table because I was also worried about being distracted if I could see through to the ground.

  • @claybutler
    @claybutler  Před 11 lety

    Almost. It looks like it's resting on the light. If I dropped the light bar to the side it would lay flat.

    Hi I am from Australia-am more of a hobby artist interested in painting on silk and require tiltable surface. I am only 5ft 2inch tall and wonder if this table will allow me to sit reaching the floor? How high does the chair have to be?
    Will a regular dining chair height allow me to have the height to middle of the table?

    Thanks again for the help!
    I did find an extension for the other futura desk..I imagine it might work for this one as well. Under amazon it's "Studio Designs Futura Leg 9.5" H x 2.5" W Extension" if anyone's ever looking.

    Hey, does this desk fit into a corner? Like a corner desk? I'm considering buying this table, but i cant decide between the futura tower and the craft&drawing table.

  • @infernoskyful
    @infernoskyful Před 6 lety

    What do you use to clean the glass? I have a black glass desk by the way, don't really see much videos of people picking that certain model.

  • @formaffinity
    @formaffinity Před 11 lety

    Thanks so much for the info! I've been looking at a couple of these, you've answered a lot of questions I had about this one. The last thing I'm wondering about is the height from floor to the work area. Amazon lists the height of the whole thing (shelf included). In other words, would a stool fit under there, or just a standard chair? Thanks again, great vid!

  • @KennONeal
    @KennONeal Před 8 lety

    Did you ever get that sticker off? Lol. If not, a little steam, either from underneath, or wet it on top & use a heat pad or iron with a towel between & it should slide right off. For the sticker residue, you can remove it with alcohol or goof off. Never know it was there ...

    • @claybutler
      @claybutler  Před 8 lety +1

      +Kenn O'Neal (Bohma) Totally slacked off on that one. I don't even notice it now. Probably bonded to the glass forever now.

    • @KennONeal
      @KennONeal Před 8 lety

      Lol, it'll most likely come off. But if it's not bothersome, why bother? I just got a Mayline Futur-Matic, myself. 48x38inch, with a lighted panel built in the middle. There's 4 florescent bulbs in it that I wanna change to LED strips. The desk raises & lowers at the press of a button & has full tilt. I just had some big issues with my sciatic and a blood clot. I'd suggest a setup that raises/lowers at the push of a button, man. So I'm wondering how you manage to avoid back issues and whatnot while drawing so much?

    How would you use a T-Square ruler when you have the stationery tray on either side?

    • @claybutler
      @claybutler  Před 5 lety

      You just need to make sure the trays are empty (nothing sticking up) The outside edges are true.

    Got this desk recently as well. Great tips for setting up the desk! I got the under desks option like you had but also went for an over desk lamp, Lumiy Draftsman 2500. With the Lumiy Lamp, I could adjust color temperature and brightness and also had great flexibility to focus the lighting. It has a big big arm on the light, which most other lights didn't offer. @@claybutler Believe what you want but everything now a days is aways a derivative of something, such as steel, steel, steel, which the making of harms the planet. The trays and frames are usually plastic sprayed by toxic paint to look like metal. I have a drafting board, but I didn't have a planet friendly desk, luck you! If I could have found one I would have been delighted. If you are christian, Merry Christmas!
