    I’ve had 2 for over a decade. A sr 303 and a sr 60. The duet mode around level 2-3 with 0db att is a great addition to all of my music.
    I also even more enjoy the sound of my laserdisc movies and concerts.

      This guy has one and doesnt know how to work it so he dismisses it. I've had mines since 1990. I use it for disco jazz funk hip hop everything and make the adjustments for good quality listening.

    I remember seeing this at a friends house back in the day and being awed by the display. My friends dad was really into audio equipment and loved showing his audio system any chance he got, even to us teenagers. It did enhance some music, not all of course. For the music we were listening to at the time, and were hearing live and loud in stadiums, the reverb was great. It brought that stadium concert sound into your living room. To be honest, though, it's main purpose was the flashy display, very high-tech at the time. We were all smoking a lot of dope back then as well so that my be the reason we found it so cool.

    My stepfathers Motorola back in the 60s had one....when you played it ,it was unbelievable....the depth in the music was unreal....I know it was the 60s because I was i. High School then....Turtles,Beatles, Cream....unreal..

    I remember it was also an option in car radios for a while. Ford, GM, Chrysler, and AMC offered car reverbs as options. They were popular from 1964 to 1974. It was said to bring your rear speaker to life. You could buy an after market for $11.95 to fancy ones for $29.95.

    I had the Pioneer 1080 receiver. Great lasted forever and a day.
    I got the reverb to add some echo but I did not like the way it sounded. Sold it for what I paid 10 years later. Waist of money. Sounded metallic.
    Did not give me the sound I was looking for.

      If you want a genuine "reverberated" sound get yourself a modern 19-inch DSP FX processor. Modern digital FX can actually generate true "reverb" as opposed to a singular echo done in old analog "reverbs".

    Sir your old ears are decieving you this thing rocks. Especially with Jazz. Like with everything you have to adjust the settings. I play thru it every day. I see a lot of guys who have gear like this... rares and are negative towards it in these reviews i find that very weird. Yet i look in the comments and everyone wants one. Bizzaro indeed.

    Great video and review! I think the SR 303 is a cool pice to add, mainly because of the blue light, but no real contribution soundwise. Greetins.

      I wish - I found one in a used electronics shop maybe 20 years ago, bought it just just to try. I still have it somewhere; it's too retro-cool to trash it, but not worth the effort of selling.

    if i could get this for 20$ i think it would make for a fun one off fx unit for music creation stuff. but its so basic that youd almost be better off using a free plugin

  • @donparker8246

    I have a question. I have the SR 60 reverb amp. My receiver(also a Pioneer) has the 4 inputs that have the jumper bars between them. Is that where it hooks up?

    • @TheBoomerConsumer
      @TheBoomerConsumer  Před 2 lety

      No, if it’s a older receiver, use the tape in and out.

    • @donparker8246
      @donparker8246 Před 2 lety

      @@TheBoomerConsumer it's an SA1490. Digital tuner. Probably 90s vintage.

    • @TheBoomerConsumer
      @TheBoomerConsumer  Před 2 lety

      The SA 1490 is a integrated amplifier. There are tape inputs, and outputs in the back. That’s what you use to connect the reverb amp.

    You really trash these things, and then you demo it with the effects turned up high, something I always called "garbage can effect". I didn't see where you just set it sparingly and then compared it both with and without. The thing is, like anything else - in moderation, these things can enhance pretty much all music. Face it, acoustics are everything in a live concert, or even in your living room depending on size and/or acoustic liveliness of the room, these can make all the difference of adding that depth and presence to music that otherwise can be missing, hence, all the digital effects on today's equipment.
