Yep, you've got good buddies there. A lot of my old riding group is done sledding but we had more than a few of those kind of days.
Well said about your mates! The conditions looked brutal, stuck on what appeared to be flat ground 😳 glad you are out and kept good spirits about the whole thing. I don't get to ride often, so weird snow conditions just exacerbate the weaknesses in my skills. Thank you for sharing.

Those cats have an adjustable riser. Lift the collar on the steering stem and you can bring the bars up or down.
some lightweight like myself prefer the lever strenght of a high riser, found myself the hands in snow while sidehilling and understood the advantage of small riser but old habit since 01😅

We droped into a hole on Frisby one time. Snow was deep for our new sleds back then. Ended up packing a trail by hand to get out. Was a late night. to be sure

If you had a lower bar set up, you'd struggle way less. I can't see how that 24" riser benefits you at all.

You probably use the kill switch tether cord most of the times, i can speak from own experience that getting the sled on top of you with full throttle and the track on you, sucks! HARD! So everyone, please ALWAYS use your kill switch tether cord 😅👍

Yo I have a phazer 2 and a Excitor 2 but I’m in Michigan
Can’t wait to make some of my own mistakes like these! This winter will be my first year I’ll be able to take a trip to the mountains somewhere. Any advice finding groups or people to tag along with?
dont just go anywhere thinking you will survive its no joke back there.... definitely take a guide if you've never been.
also if you stay at a lodge or hotel theres a good chance youll meet some guys that are more than willing to let you tag along. stay safe man!
Where are you thinking of? Some places are so busy there's always someone close by to help. Some places there's enough avy danger you don't dare be out alone.
Generally if you show up to the parking lot early, and just ask people as they show up, guys will let you tag along. Granted, some guys are just going on a trail cruise and will cuss you if you get buried 10' off the trail, others will expect you to keep up as they shred through trees.
If you're not already familiar, do your research on avy conditions, avy rescue, have the equipment (shovel, airbag, beacon) and know how to use it. This would be the one thing that would make me hesitant to bring you along is if you show up without any gear and no ability to use it.
