It's hard to say which Traitor Legion had the most tragic fate compared to what they could have been, but the World Eaters are definitely up there; the Nails ruined everything for them, and they would have been better off without their Primarch

I tend to think Thousand Sons, because they were damned if you do damned if you don't, no matter what Magnus did:
-Don't take Tzeentch's deal and they'll almost all be devolved into gibbering chaos spawn.
-Take Tzeentch's deal and they end up as the tools of Chaos they are now.

What's even worse is Angron never wanted this, he never wanted ANY of this.
He didn't want to be a slave. He didn't want the bastardized implants of a fallen civilization drilled into his brain. He didn't want to lead a legion for a heartless father. He didn't want sons that tried so desperately to seek his approval. He wanted to be free. He wanted to be happy. And he could never be free. And he could never be happy, not until he died.
