What a fantastic video. You made the drawing of the stones come to life and I was mesmerized by your creative talent. I learned a lot from watching how you blended the various shades of pencil which produced a three dimensional effect. The highlights on each stone blew my mind.

ancientimmie thank you so much for your comments! It is awesome to hear from an actual maker of jewelry that my gems make sense in the real world too. I love that we can make beautiful things without having to be so worried about it being the Best materials. I like having fun.

+Ethel What a wonderful complement! Now you have seen behind the curtain and know the trick. :) Thank you for watching.
This is so inspiring! I am just venturing into the doodling/colouring world. Have always thought I could not draw anything, but I can doodle! These gems make me think of amber, which I love and have a few jewllery pieces. Have also just recently purchased a set of 60 Prismacolor Scholar pencils. Now I need to try this!
Gail Allen wonderful! Doodling is so relaxing and we don't expect perfection from a doodle. Have fun!

+Janie Peskin Thank you so much for your lovely comment! Have fun and enjoy the process!
This is a super tutorial, must check out further Episodes.
Thank you for watching! I hope you are continuing to enjoy this series!
Stephanie, these came out fantastic! 😃 I really love the character in the purple gem...impressive with the crayolas. I would love to see how you would do the bevels in a copper color, both shiny and maybe a bit of patina (though I prefer shiny). Copper & silver or my favorite metals...not really a gold girl, unless it is white gold. 😉 The small accent gems were a great add. I am loving your doodles!! Awesome job!!!!
+Valarie Connell Oh that is so cool that you like the video. I'll see about doing a copper bezel. I had a lot of fun doing this lesson. :) More lessons will be coming soon!
+Deliberately Creative -Stephanie Bergeron Yea!!!! 😆 I look forward to seeing more. I appreciate the time & work you take to share your art.

I would love to see how you color the chain and metal around the orange gem. Can you do a tutorial on that? And what colors you use? Please.
Thank you for watching and for your comment and suggestion! Great idea and I'll add it to my list!
I intend to and continue until I get it right, once again thank you.
you are going to do great!
I have also seen a number of video tutorials on gems and jewels, and found this one to be especially helpful. I'm not sure what made it so different, but somehow it was just much more clear and descriptive. Really surprised to see the difference between polych/Crayola. I've got a great collection now of Prismas but no Polych....so it is my next adventure in seeing the differences. Thank you for your lovely demo and I will subscribe now!
Patti Graham thank you for your lovely comments and For subscribing. I think we all find the videos that we need at the time we need them. I enjoy taking my time and explaining every step. So enjoy showing the steps. Both ways work for different people. I happy my way was helpful for you at this time.

Thank you so much! just started to learn doing these so i find this very useful
Thank you so much for watching! I am so happy that you are finding my videos to be helpful! Have fun. :)
would you do one on those clear gems that are so popular now? also, on the placement of the "shine" and how to determine the shape of the shine? for me, that's what makes it look sooo real! ty!
+kathe garden In my next video I'll see if I can explain how I place the shine! It is hard to figure it out at first but then after observing how light strikes objects you start seeing the shine. :) It really is the magic that makes the whole thing believable. :) I'll have to look at some clear gems too! I'm having such a good time with these!
amazing video
thank you for watching.
thank you very much
Thank you for watching!
WOW! You rock socks!
I loved that you did this with crayolas on one of the gems too. That is really great to know that you can get these results.
Do you think faber castel water coloured pencils would work too? I'm playing with lots of media in class lately. (I love that we have the same gel pens!)
+Happy Tree-Hugger Janine Goodrum I haven't done it with watercolor pencil yet. That's on my list to try. I have seen beautiful gems done in Watercolour I know it can be done!
So fun! Can\t wait to see what you come up with next
I love this video…what type of paper are working on?
Hi there! Thank you for watching- in this video I was using Canson Mixed media sketch book.
when you do your gem videos can you let us know what kind of paper you are using, just like you let us know what kind of color pencils you are using
Hello! Thank you for watching. This was the very first Gem Video I had done. I started listing all the supplies including the paper I used as I went on. There are over 60 Doodlegem videos on my channel. :) I hope you check them out.
DeliberatelyCreative hi I have staedler watercolour pencils. Can I call se those?
DeliberatelyCreative hi I have staedler watercolour pencils. Can I call se those?
DeliberatelyCreative hi I have staedler watercolour pencils. Can I call use those?
What book are you coloring in?
I was using a Canson Mixed Medial tablet. :) Thank you for watching.
Well, WM didn't have Crayola pencils except in 10 pak. For $7 got a set of Col-art (I think). Box said artist quality. BuahAha! Axully saw box of 20 prismacolors for $19 . Haven't price checked yet...
+vicki ross I got the 50 pack of Crayola on Amazon for $15! I enjoyed using them. 20 Prismas for $19? Sounds like a great deal to me!
I just switched out Crayola twistables, the 24 pak prismacolors premiers, and the cra-z-art. Prismacolors pencil blender, marker, and chart pak blender marker. Wow! Impressed with the CA! I'll do a quick vid tomorrow.
I look forward to your experiments!
Rose Art 72 count set, not Col-art.
what type of paper that you using?
hi there. thank you for watching. I'm using canson multimedia paper that is 98 lbs. You can experiment with different kinds of paper I suggest trying smooth but not slick paper to do your gems and stones.
Well, it helps to go out and get the sack. cRa-z-art. Is the real brand
Stephanie, I loved watching your process and your clear teaching style. Beautiful art ! tfs !
+Patricia Stubbs Thank you I'm having fun and love that the process was understandable. :)
This is a super tutorial, must check out further Episodes.
+Gina Armstrong Thank you! I have new episodes going up every Monday Morning. :)
