This is why fencing is sooo underrated as a sport. People see these things and think it is actually like that. Oh those poor sabres...
Sabres have been used as training/prop weapons in movies since 1920. Next to the one handed broadsword, its the most iconic choice of sword in choreography. Most are probably second hand anyway so they get more usage after their fares in sports is done.
