I know someone from China who works in North Korea, and he was there when Michael made his program,he said all the NK minders and people liked Michael and no one had a bad word to say about him.

Palin was a gracious and sensitive interviewer in North Korea, but he seems to have fallen for the gloss and sheen of the country. The interviewer here and his flippant comment about gladly going to live in a country giving out beer coupons, is unfortunate. No mention at all of the approx 300,000 people in concentration camps, but hey....free beer and the people there look happy!

Very true. There is also a reason why among minders there is always a young beauty.

I think you have a very reasonable point. Actually Michael palin has had people who criticized him for the exact reason for years. But open mindedness isn’t the same as falling for the gloss of it all. I’m South Korean so believe me, I’ve seen people triggered by what I said here. If you’ve seen the documentary, he was questioning their propaganda all the time. His approach is just not criticizing people to their faces. It’s accepting that North Koreans have their rights to believe what they want and then being able to discuss it openly. Critical thinking isn’t something you can force on someone, but you can encourage it in a discussion that’s handled maturely. You can’t have a discussion like that when you create more resistance with criticism. I think the narration in the documentary showed his critical and conscious thinking process. He just didn’t have any reason to hate people because of what he believed.

Bro is clearly making up numbers to fit his own narrative. There is no possible way their supply chain is big enough to feed 300,000 in concentration camps
