    i remember seeing an old clip of kohei sensei doing the exact same demonstration!

    I was uke for tohei sensei in Japan in this exercise, incredible power, whiplash , still feeling it.

      Yeah these kinds of traditional drills are fun to play with, and i've seen a bunch of variants of these using different parts of the body almost in isolation, but they are almost a drill to help you understand another drill which then teaches an underlying concept, if you see what i mean?

    You kinda need to feel this, Clyde probably only weighs around 65kg max, but the small 'wave through the body' is really efficient at creating leverage.

      It was called 'fune kogi or boat rowing exercise, referring to how you need to move when pushing a boat forward with a single oar out the back.
