    Many of these tents have been taken out in winter temperatures, some I have taken camping in strong gale force winds, torrential rain, and all sorts of bad weather camping, so we have managed to give some of these Naturehike tents some bad weather tests and reviews based on tehir performance. Some of the tents were not quite suitable for what I needed, or, I had purchased the wrong version of the tent - but some of these tents are easy to put up and so lightweight that they just make camping fun!

    I think the one thing Naturehike needs to consider is to offer a choice of inners so that you can opt for solid fabric over all that mesh if you want more of a cold weather tent.

    i invested on a Naturehike Cycling 1 UL tent for my first ever tent 5y ago as I started going through major hikes here in the Philippines and boy, I have never regretted buying it… up until now, some of my new hiking buddies are amazed on how light weight, sturdy and efficient my NH tent is. Even on a really heavy and windy summit camp downpour, it stood up proudly while keeping the condensation within flowing through the sides and not affecting the inner flynit. however, my girlfriend is now planning to hike with me so i’m planning to upgrade to either the Cloud Up 2 (w/c you recommend) or the Opalus Tunnel Tent soon! :)

    I have the Naturehike Spider 1, also called the 'Bicycle tent'. It's just like CloudUp2, but made for 1 person and with a side entrance. Lightweight, with an all mesh inner tent, so I use it only in summer. Brilliant little thing!👍🏼👋🇧🇻😊

      @@SummitOrNothing that is exactly what it is👍🏼😊 Hiking and wild camping in this country🇧🇻-nothing but deep woods or rock...pitching a tent can be H*ll...having a self standing tent with a tiny footprint can make or break your camp life. I do like my 2person tents more, coz of the space, but the Spider1 is a lifesaver sometimes😊💃

      @@scorpiokitty9745 Thanks for this input. I was looking at the 'Bicycle Tent' as I like the side entrance more than the Cloud series and you get the dual Vestibule. The Cloud vestibule looks tough if you need room to cook in the rain.

    • @Thee-_-Outlier
      @Thee-_-Outlier Před rokem

      The fly doesn't pull away from two of the sides tho. This is an issue for sure if it's rainy and windy. Why? Because when the fly is pressed up against the mess water is likely to run down the fly and into the tent under the right conditions.
      I do think it's a cool tent except that one flaw but that flaw had prevented me from buying it. It's unfortunate because it's so small and light and I like how it pitches. I wish it had time outs on all the sides or was designed such that the sides don't touch the mesh

    I love the Cloud Peak 2 - so much space inside, even with two people and loads in the vestibules for cooking in bad weather. I had it up in a gale in the Cheviots and it came through unscathed. A tough third placing there buddy :)

      @SummitOrNothing  Před 3 lety +7

      It is a great tent, and as I said, my ranking is based in my own preferences and experiences. The cloud peak certainly is the tent I'd go too to when I need a bomb proof tent or more space, but for the most part, I will choose the lighter options first.. especially in better weather.

    I used 4 tents that you've reviewed and I totally agree with how "flexible" Cloud Up 2 is, at first I was thinking that its too "small" for us 2 persons with 2 osprey 40+ liters inside, but we kinda like it as time goes by. The most versatile naturehike tent for me. With proper installation, no water will go inside. In cold weather, only moisture gets in (which is just fine for the price). Will totally get another one if it naturehike will upgrade the cloud up 2 with 2 doors now.

    I have a cloud up 2 UL model and its a great tent overall. Its my backup tent now for a few smaller reasons though. Its pretty noisy in heavy wind. No matter how tight I get it, it still flaps around a bit. I'm also not really a fan of the entrance being on the narrow end instead of on the side. You have to crawl around a lot and over bags in the vestibule and stuff. And I wish the inner walls didn't have mesh going so far down. Even on semi warm nights you can feel a breeze on your face while sleeping because the mesh is so low. Otherwise it stays decently warm. The first night I ever used it ended up getting a good rain and the tent performed perfectly right out of the box.

    I've got the VIK 1 (updated version) and pretty happy as well, but it's just a tent for the summer. Cold nights = moist nights inside. I tested it out at 1°C and had puddles in all 4 corners next morning. But for dry nights above 10°C you've got no issues at all. Rainy summernights are also a bit of an issue, because moisture is also bilding up quickly inside (but it's sealed and watertight. It's my go to tent for lightweigt short-trips but for longer adventures I'll try out the Cloud up 2. I especially love the door, that you can use it as small roof with some sticks or hiking poles.

    Great review Trev, I can only common the peak two, thought it was a great solid tent, this weekend was the first time I used it, with stood the wind and didn’t leak, my only complain is the qualifying the zips, kept snagging every time I opened closed the tent

    Zipper snagged on my cloud peak too. I think it's fixable but need to unstitch a bit, good thing there's two doors. Also, the later models don't have the inner zipper going on the bottom, you have to open it all the way unless you want to high-jump yourself in. Otherwise, no complaints, a very very good tent and quite nice to pitch up. Now I'm looking for something for the winter, kind of like the Naturehike Opalus, but haven't made up my mind yet.

    I have the cloud up 2. The door is just too small( I'm only 5'7"). Too difficult to get in and out. And it's too hot in the summer because the mesh screen is more like a plastic which doesn't let any air in.

    All great tents with good and bad points. I find the cloud up 2 quite narrow when sitting up. The Vik 2 is simple and up in seconds. Wee bit of condensation in the morning. I could feel the cloud up airy and fresh when sitting up and holding the heat better when lying down. The Vik 2 was the opposite but the headroom in that thing is phenomenal. All great tents tbh it’s just weighing it up and try not to end up with plastic boxes filled with tents…..oops

However, out of the 3 tents I own this is still my favourite.

    Great video man. I am going reindeer hunting for up to a week in the high mountains of Norway, and I need a lightweight, sturdy and wind and potentionally snow resistant tent. What Naturehike tent would you recommend for this? I need one that both keeps itself up in high winds, but also doesnt let wind blow into the tent itself. I see that many reviewers say that their Naturehike tents are very cold due to wind coming in through the mesh and outer layer. I have been considering the Cloup Up 2, but I can not get the snow skirt version in time, and I imagine that the regular version has the same issue with wind coming into the tent through the mesh as the other tents.
