This is really helpful. Finding the right clay is like looking for the holy grail. I use monster clay for hard carve stuff, but look for a softer clay for other projects. Le Beau sticks like crazy in my hot environment, just used Professional Plastelline in a workshop and it is wonderful but hard to make molds from. I think the Clayette looks promising, because of color and non-stickiness. Will try next.
Nice reviews David! What do you think about, let's say using softer clay for the body, and maybe a medium for fine facial features, to hold the detail better?
Wonderful video. I have some clay that is glow in the dark and way too soft for me to use. I don't want to leech it like I normally would because it might lose some of the glow. Same reason I don't want to mix it with a harder clay because that would interfere with the glow. I guess I will put it in the fridge or freezer for a while. We have been getting into the low 90's F here lately. I wish we weren't but so it goes. I did pick Texas to settle down in. :p I just know I was trying to make something really small and fairly detailed but the clay was too soft to really work with easily. - Heidi
Heidi, my daughter's name... , That's why you should look into getting Le Beau Touché High Melt.. The high melt means it would be perfect for hot climates to work with... especially as hot as it gets where you live.... Just put your 100 watt bulb closer to the clay.. and it's perfect to work with... you should get a couple of pounds of that clay to work with just to see... www.sculpturedepot.net/clay-wax-tools/product.asp?Clay Love your Merry Go Round video.. lol
David Lemon Heidi is a popular name. :) It is only really hot here three months out of the year - June, July and August. We don't have much of a winter though there are random days of 30F or lower... I see it as we have Spring, Summer, Fall, Spring with a few winter days tossed in at random. *grins* August is the hottest. I have seen (and felt) it as high as 120 here but one of those times the feels like was 130F outside. Nobody usually believes me when I tell them we have had snow here though not a lot but still were able to build mini snowmen. :D We also have freezes every year that can last from 1 to 7 days. Thanks. My son loves the traveling carnival and going on the rides. Our favorite lately is the pirate ship though he still screams on it. :p - Heidi

Wouldn't work.. .. your going to put detail in the body as well...
How's the tools coming ... lol
Thanks for the video. I didn't know about Clayette. That's interesting. Have you ever tried monster clay, it's great, smooth and not sticky at all.
No I haven't... but I'm sure all these are similar
How many different clays does the sample kit come with? Which products do they send?
Contact Chavant and see.. I met the CEO.. and he sent me this.. www.chavant.com/
