  • Welcome to Rodney’s 2 Minute Tips. Today I’ll show you how to make your own homemade deer repellent. This is an easy non toxic recipe to keep deer and rabbits from destroying your garden.
    Recipe
Mix 2 Large Eggs, 1 Cup of Milk, 2 Tablespoons of Canola Oil or Vegetable Oil & 2 Tablespoons of Dish Liquid in a mixing bowl.
After mixing the ingredients pour them into your 2 gallon sprayer, fill with water and spray your vulnerable plants. Works to keep Deer, Rabbits, Chipmunks and other destructive pests from eating your prized plants.
NOTE: If storing for extended periods of time beware the mixture will take on very pungent smell and will be even more effective as a repellent.

So, you spray this immediately after mixing? I’ve seen other recipes that say it should sit, covered, for about 4 days before spraying. Just wondering if it will still basically spoil and get smelly and be effective if sprayed immediately.
Also, you’ve had it work for chipmunks? I ask because I’d like to protect my blueberries from chipmunks and squirrels. For that, I’d want to only spray the ground and base of the plant, not the fruit, so I may be dreaming.

Yes I spray immediately after mixing. However if you let it sit it gets more potent.

So if you have part of your mix leftover, does it begin to stink because of the milk and eggs? Good video BTW!

Hey Rodney. Thanks for the vid. No problem with this clogging up your sprayer?

Hi Paul thanks for the question. I find if you mix the mixture well you shouldn’t have clogging. I’ve had clogging when I’ve left some mix for a few days. It will really smell due to the eggs. However if I have an issue I just pull the siphon out and flush it. Hope this helps.
