    Those skirts on the side should have been down for water ops. That is where you get the propulsion from.

      Indeed, these skirts are supposed to be lowered to go in the water. But we realized that the legionaries of the 1er REC in Indochina always left them in up position because it was necessary to have a hand in quickly to release the aquatic plants stuck in the tracks & boggies. They then used the skirts as a luggage compartment to slide in stretcher or other impedimentas. Moreover, the skirts disappeared in the middle of the Indochina war.

      @@deanassautproduction4285 would be a trade off .....you could mitigate the speed loss by staying towards the shallows. ( they are not that fast either way) and they do drastically reduce your clearance and hamper access. I can well imagine that they were not popular with the crews .
