  • The self timer was not working correct in this old Nikon F, because the cam that go against the timer gear was worn out a little.
I fix the problem by bending the small pin the actually activate the shutter mechanism, and then my old Nikon F was back to life :-)

Beautiful job. Most Nikons will have had tens or hundreds of thousands of shutter releases and the self timer will only have been used a few times. unless it belonged to Narcissus, or the design of the timer isn't so good?

It seems like an odd part to wear. Maybe the timer was used excessively? Very nice repair!

Scott Micciche Thanks Scott, I also would guess that the self-timer has been used A LOT over the year's, and in that way almost worn out. But after this threament it maybe will work the next many years (I hope so...)

My watch is a Jacques Lemans 1-1258, I put there so people could follow how long it take's to repair my camera.
