She was a busker. A busker is a street musician. Her comment at the start was a reference to the the fact the year before this, she was performing outside the front of the venue trying to get money. Now she is on the stage performing. Dance Monkey is about people who would come up and request songs whether she knew them or not. And yes, those were socks.
She was a former street busker from Byron Bay (small beach town in Australia) and she is performing at Splendour in the Grass which is one of the big music festivals in Australia. Splendour goes over 3 days, has multiple different stages over a large area, and has a large number of different musical acts.
This was just down the road from where I used to live. She used to busk in Byron all the time, she's fucking AMAZING live - and yes, we Aussies swear a lot haha
When you said she is “hood for real” if only you knew the place where she grew up 😂! I mean…. Growing up living 30min drive from there we all knew frangaaa in the 80s/90s as the hood, highest crime rate in the state at one stage along with murders. Nice place now (excluding the pines) but back then…. Oh geeze.
