  • Here we see the first four R32s that are slated to be taken off of MTA property and scrapped being transferred by diesels from 207th St Yard to 38th St Yard. These four cars, 3878/9 and 3928/9 were out of service for a while. 3878/9 had been partially stripped for several years and had become de-facto parts donor cars. Very soon, these cars will be conveyed from 38th St Yard to the South Brooklyn Railway, where they will be shipped out for scrap. Enjoy this rare view of the end of an NYC Subway car's life!

      @Lighthouse in the Storm I second that emotion. I would rather have the R44 and R46 cars replaced than the R32, R38 and R42 cars. The R32 cars were good cars and should have stayed in the subway, probably until the R211 cars make debut into the rapid transit system.

      These are the cars that haven't ran in service since 2019. The Cars that are getting scrapped are the ones that didn't return in the summer of 2020. For now I heard only 50% of the remaining R32 fleet is getting scrapped.

    Why can't we just build them like these in AMERICA with a American company and stop outsourcing everything.
    These were made by Budd

    • @TheRailLeaguer
      @TheRailLeaguer Před 2 lety

      Much of todays car builders are mostly American companies. To put it in perspective, Kawasaki does have a manufacturing plant in Yonkers and the company is mostly American. Much of the R211 assembly has also occurred in the plan in Lincoln Nebraska, which is in America.
      In essence, much of the MTA fleet is still built in America and they are NOT outsourcing anything.

    • @TheRailLeaguer
      @TheRailLeaguer Před 2 lety

      @Dagamez DM Doesn’t really matter. The trains are still American trains made by mostly American companies.

    • @TheRailLeaguer
      @TheRailLeaguer Před 2 lety

      @Dagamez DM How is it a bad thing? Maybe they might have something good that we can’t successfully replicate, just like the Iron Man suits.
      I’m pretty sure where the supplies come from doesn’t really matter, provided they are of good quality (especially considering Kawasakis track record of quality train cars).

    • @TheRailLeaguer
      @TheRailLeaguer Před 2 lety

      @Dagamez DM They don’t do it a lot, but only a couple of times.
      Still doesn’t mean we have to stop outsourcing altogether.

    • @TheRailLeaguer
      @TheRailLeaguer Před 2 lety

      @Dagamez DM I didn’t necessarily say it as if they were doing it completely. It’s also in response to the original comment that’s infested that we stop relying on companies like Kawasaki.
