Lyrics:
We built our homes far away from the sea
So afraid of the world that lies underneath
We make ourselves a boat from the trees
And a quay to depart to a land made of dreams
To the bottom, I sink
And then I start to think
Maybe i’m made of ink
I’m done letting the waves wash over me
So the city and the sea
Can return to how they should be
We’re still painting blueprints on canvas
With our bare hands
But now we need to start again
And return to form
At the edge of the water
We’re sinking faster
Into a bottomless sea
Accepting of all these is and can be
Accepting of all there is and can be, accepting of all there is
Accepting of all there is and can be, accepting of all there is
Mother nature, sing to us your favourite song
Serenade me, serenade me until i’m dead and gone
Oh, father time, you’ve turned on us, the sand it flows
I can’t escape it, can’t escape it
I’ve grown old
From the bottom, I rise
Disillusioned and mesmerised
Under the warm sunlight
I’m done letting the waves wash over me
So the city and the sea
Can return to how they should be
We’re still painting blueprints on canvas
With our bare hands
But now we need to start again
And return to form
At the end where we all return to the earth
There’s nothing left of us but dust
Dust in the breeze, I just can’t believe
That this wonderful world has taken a liking to me
And I still believe that the waves should wash
Over me
I’m done letting the waves wash over me
So the city and the sea
Can return to how they should be
We’re still painting blueprints on canvas
With our bare hands
But now we need to start again
And return to form at the end
In winter we'll hide away
Can the summer come out to play?
Because we're sitting in the solstice
I promised you that day
Mother nature, sing to us your favourite song
Serenade me, serenade me until i’m dead and gone
Oh, father time, you’ve turned on us, the sand it flows
I can’t escape it, can’t escape it
I’ve grown old

This band should have millions of subscribers geez
If you guys never release another song you’ll still be one of my favourite bands of all time. Your videos are gorgeous, your lyrics are beautiful, and the vocals and instrumentals are SOMETHING ELSE.
"we'll sit in the solstice someday" - Watercolour
"We're sitting in the solstice, I promised you that day" - Drawing Shorelines
People talking about how incredible the song is, and they're absolutely right, but the lyrics are beautiful too, might just be my favorites from Valiant Hearts, which says a lot because the lyrics are one of the best things about VH. Best of the album for sure, and I'd say it's the 4th best song you've ever made overall. I've ranked it as my 15th favorite song of all time as well, I have nothing but praise.
I'm so glad I found you through that devil trigger cover, your songs are amazing!
Your choice of words for lyrics is stunning, and the visuals in the videos are just beyond words.
Thank you for so much for your music. I hope you will achieve great success :)
I love the reference to watercolor in this one! That's one of my favorite details about your songs with how they reference each other so much
I fucking love the background animation, it just brings me some kind of comfort.
I LOVE this song so much!!! Keep up the amazing work! 😍👏🏻
'A bottomless sea, accepting of all there is and can be'
BLOODBORNE REFERENCE?! BLOODBORNE REFERENCE?!
You people need to get famous, you remind me of Hands like houses but I do dare to say that the vibe also comes close to Starset, one thing about HLH is they never used a lot of metaphors involving space versus how Starset pretty much makes the whole theme about space, hence the name, "Starset" I don't listen to them anymore but I used to be heavily into them and since I first heard these songs it's all I've really been listening to but I am a huge fan of artists like this, it's what got me hooked in HLH Ground Dweller from the very beginning. I also write a lot too and I inspired stuff from songs from HLH too cause I found in listening to music that it could be rather fun going through word by word in finding the meaning, versus actually having it handed to you with the words themselves and songs like all of yours is what makes me like them so much
bro the lyricism is one of the things i absolutely adore about wanderlust, so glad somebody thinks the same way
I love this song
Love it!
This kinda reminds me of Ground dweller of Hands like houses
Our album 'Wanderlust' is heavily inspired by Ground Dweller :)
@@valianthearts I instantly got "starving to death in the belly of a whale" vibes from the intro! Really good stuff though ;)
Uuff 😍 this vídeo is perfect 👌
suscrito, me encantaron sus canciones
have u guys considered adding small screaming parts? it may do a really cool combination with your awesome clean vocals
still you're doing really good songs!
Thanks dude! We have considered it, but we're not really into uncleans with this arrangement, in fact we try to steer clear of the more metalcore vibes and go for more prog riffs and clean vocal melodies over the more 'hardcore' stuff. Not that we don't enjoy uncleans in others music - we do - it's just not the style for us (at least right now). Our vocalist has another band named Galleons that mixes those elements you're talking about though!
@@dontreadmyname4396 You'll quite like the new album!
@@valianthearts this is funny reading now that Yonder is out
@@everydaysponge4086 Lol I was just thinking that.
