4:55 NCLM vs Nova LUT + NCLM
5:46 Wrap up
#cyberpunk2077 #phantomliberty #patch #cdpr - Hry
I used to use this mod, looks particularly gorgeous during rain imo. Now I'm more of an E3 2018 guy, but this one still rocks!
I appreciate the work you put into these showcases, they’ve given me the confidence to start modding! I recently tried out your collection and went with the e3vr lighting mod, I’ve had a great experience so far no issues just amazing visuals and better performance from my 6900xt!
Thank you for show case. Trying out nova due to your last video but was looking at this one yesterday.
Another great mod showcase.
top tier showcase right here. thnx i think i found my lighting mod!!!
Hey Krush, really appreciate all these videos you've made comparing mods of this nature. Is really helping me out. A question about your video, starting at 4:55 is a chapter that you titled as "NCLM vs Nova LUT + NCLM", but the overlaid text on the video itself makes it appear that it is just a comparison of Nova vs NCLM (although you do verbally mention the fact that it is suggested to mix the 2 mods). Just want to confirm if you are showing any footage of the 2 mods mixed together in this video or not?
Thank you for creating another informative video! I always take time to view all of your presentations, as they are incredibly useful. I was hoping to inquire about your opinion on making a
decision between two mods NCLM and Neon Genesis. Given your advice regarding RT not being favorable for AMD GPUs, would using Complete RT Shader in conjunction with one of these lighting mods be the better choice in order to attain the best visual quailty? I have an AMD RX6800XT, thanks very much for your time.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy my videos, my goal is to just give more information and clarity on what the mods do so that folks can better decide which mods to use.
I think complete rt works well with both of those mods. Patch 2.1 also fixed some issues with the base visuals, like exposure while driving in first person. It's not 100% fixed but it's much better now. Neon Genesis still handles screen space ambient occlusion alot better though. It boils down to which color palette you prefer really. Nclm is more vibrant than Neon Genesis so both will require slightly different setups for complete RT.
Then there is the UltraPlus RTPT Mod which changes the equation for RT a little. It makes turning on RT(just rt lighting specifically, to medium) worth considering if you like the path traced look.
I know this isn't a definitive answer haha, but I hope it helps a little. Lighting mods are so subjective, it's tough for me to conclusively recommend any one over the other. It just depends on what you prefer as the user.
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.@@KrushSG
The single mod I use with all RT/PT options on. The HD textures turn smooth gameplay into lag on patch 2.1.
Time for an upgrade
The only downside to using NCLM or other lighting mods, is how it destroys the look of the vehicle tail lights and other bright red signs etc. You can really tell in the comparison shots of NCLM when driving at night. I have just decided to go with Nova LUT and vanilla lighting because of this issue
It's not just the reds, any neon sign basically loses the white glow with most mods. I think the only 2 that don't do that are gits and nova lut. But gits has an extremely stylized look(which i like but it isn't for everyone) and nova lut has issues with some of the signs being completely desaturated(I heard this is gonna be fixed though).
I really like NCLM, as well as E3VR, which also has the nifty apartment mod. I also like GITS's rain mod. I believe our tastes are quite similar, so do you think the rain mod is necessary with either of the lighting mods? It's all personal pref., of course, but your two cents is helpful. I'll DL it anyway, but I've gotta finish building my rig before I see anything, so...
W vid bro, what did you prefer ? NCLM or E3VR ? these 2 are the best mod by far
but the fact that 2019 lighting mod like BallE3r lighting mod still havent got an updated is so sad man, cuz we doesnt have any 2019 lighting mod that working rn.
2019 mods are way worse than any proper LUT. Why would anyone want worse looking game, even than vanilla
I like them both because they offer slightly different things and different looks. Strictly based on colour I think nclm is more realistic but I do prefer E3vr overall because it also comes with road and pavement textures and now an apartment mod too.
I honestly have been feeling the same way about 2019 not getting enough love lately. And with some files that I've found that are still in tact. Well maybe that will change here in a couple months 😊
@@KrushSGwhat would you say gives the best color boost i like when my games are color boosted and vibrant nice reds and blues and true blacks without a hazy or blurry look?
@@lukeairborne5552 of all the mods I've tried nclm probably fits that description the best, it is by far the most vibrant one. If you want an even cleaner look you can try nclm's 1.31 LUT-only, with Nova lut's ENV-only file. It basically removes all haziness and reduces bloom to the lowest possible setting. I don't think it's necessary though, nclm clears up the look a fair bit already.
Could you record nova lut + nclm combo? Love your vids.
The Nova LUT side of the Nova lut vs nclm comparison was with nova lut + nclm. Sorry I probably should have labelled it as that rather than just nova lut.
@@KrushSG ah I see, I didn't realise that. Thank you
Bro do you know what mod @DubstepZz uses on his cyberpunk video?
If I had to guess, at least in the recent couple of videos, Nova Lut with a custom reshade preset and at least some form of texture upscale mod like HD reworked project or Xilamonstrr's upscales.
As far as I've seen from recently posted "photorealistic" showcases, Nova Lut is the mod most of them use. It provides a very realistic base to then tweak further with reshade. A lot of them also seem to run config edits to increase fov beyond the default maximum. Of course needless to say, the 4090 part helps too, allowing them to crank up the PT rays and bounces to achieve lifelike lighting at viewable framerates.
One thing to bear in mind when watching those showcases is viewable and playable framerates arent the same thing. A fair few of those videos look like they are running at just about ~60fps, maybe less. Which is fine for viewing, but if that 60fps was achieved with frame gen turned on(which is likely the case) it's not gonna be very playable.
How much is the performance cost?? In terms of FPS. Been looking at a lot of these the past few days but nobody speaks in the performance hit so I haven’t pulled the trigger on if
That's probably cos most lighting mods don't cost anything, they simply change the colour and style of the lighting, doesn't usually cost any fps for that.
maybe a stupid question, but if i wanted to use NCLM and Nova LUT do i just download NCLM file under main file or do i need to download both main files and NCLM base file under misc. files before getting Nova LUT then using the ### in that file name.
Download Nova Lut's lut only, and nclm's Envparams only, add #### or !!!! to the Nova lut archive file name and you are good to go.
thank you so much for all your help friend, your videos have been so helpful i'm very thankful for you and the cyberpunk community@@KrushSG
This is amazing! Maybe could you do a showcase of E3 2018 Lighting? That one claims to have been made with help of CDPR itself!
I covered e3 2018 in my first 5-mod comparison video actually. Unfortunately it seems lexars hasn't updated it since then. I did hear a large update is coming soon though
An update will release on nexus in the next 3 weeks according to lexars.@@KrushSG
Krush are u using wetter roads ??
Nope, wetter roads uses config tweaks to change RT reflections, I usually prefer to run rt reflections off and psycho ssr on. Ssr reflections are far less accurate but the actual wetness and texture of wet roads look way better with SSR compared to RTR imo(that's prolly what you are seeing in the video).
Weirdly my nights are bright with NCLM...not sure why at all. Do u experience bright nights?
I get that with nova lut actually haha, but the author confirmed it was a bug they are gonna fix in the next update. I don't get that with nclm. What I do know is some mods could indirectly affect sunrise and sunset, making the game brighter/darker a little earlier/later than vanilla.
@@KrushSG ahh alright man. Thanks!
Ive installed nclm env and env param with alternately weather visuals . Now i cannot see a single drop of rain 😭😭 help me out.. how do i bring back rain
Is rain still invisible after uninstalling the mod? I haven't used that combination before but usually when rain disappears it is because something has turned off a parameter called ScreenSpaceRain. Do you have any other mods installed that edit config files perhaps?
You could get the weathermancer mod and its dependencies. It has a setting in the mod settings menu to reset the weather and I’ve found that fixes the issue. Either that or I’d look up the Blade Runner Easter egg fix which resets the weather without needing the weathermancer mod. Make sure to skip time for a day or two to see if it fixes the issue
You shouldn’t use env and altwvisuals together. As I know, they are not compatible. You should uninstall at least one of them
@@KrushSG no no, no other mods that edit config, i stay aways from mods that edit config.
@@andrews05 ill do it, thanks mate.
This mod has issues regarding rear end car lights. All blurry compared to vanilla. Otherwise looks nice.
Personally for me this mod along with most of the rest take away the "brightness" of the sun and just looks flat. The vanilla game looks like a modern game, this makes it look like it's a game from 10 years ago... I use my own personal reshade to remove the yellow/green tint and give a bit more depth but that's all you really need to make the vanilla look better.
I think the reason many turn to lighting mods is largely due to the limited color range of vanilla and its tendency to crush blacks and whites. The green and yellow tint are easy fixes in reshade but limited color ranges and crushed colors aren't easy to fix with just reshade. From there what color palette one chooses is really entirely subjective.
@@KrushSG Perhaps There is some crush but I feel that extreme in lighting is what gives it a more realistic look (in my view). Because the range is brought down in this mod (and many others) so to avoid those crushed ends so to speak, it just ends up looking flatter and not as dynamic which then tends to lean towards older games and what they looked like. It's all personal opinion of course but the only lighting mods ive been impressed with are ones that only seem to be able to hit the sweet spot at certain times of day but then flatten it all and make the image look drab at others.
As a photographer I love playing around with this kind of thing but unfortunately dont have the time or knowledge to try and make my own one, but happy with my reshade results nevertheless...
Is it compatible with Nova Lut?
@4:34
Yep it is, there are instructions to use nova lut on the description page of nclm
HDR compatible?
I actually don't know, I use an SDR monitor, prolly gotta check the forum thread for the mod
The sky is the way it is is because of air pollution
No, it's not Natural Californian, but Netflix Californian pallete. It's changed pallete, but not improvement to realism.
I get it, that you like this sky more, but it's not lore accurate with increased atmosphere pollution.
I don't think the goal of this mod was to chase realism, probably more of an idealistic take on what California looks like, not that I would know though, I haven't been to CA in over 2 decades. There are other mods that do realism better imo.
