    I quit my career and started a fabrication business. This was my first purchase, I have built 100s of feet of railing with it. I take it on jobsites to do installs because its so light weight. It paid for itself my first job. I even tig'd with it worked like a charm. Really happy with it. Turning the inductance down will help with that soft start btw

    I was lucky enough that my girlfriend was working at harbor freight and they had to take one out of the box to put an empty box on the shelf because of all the people that would walk out with them. So I picked this up for $350 out the door and that was in October of 2022 on sale. They would be 750 with a normal price tag of 850

    Myself found it was a very usable welder. And made my welds look decent,unfortunatly the wire feed motor give up the ghost.i can still weld stick or tig with it but i opted out of two yr warrenty.so yep it lasted past the 90day warrenty then kaput went wire motor.i asked if i could send in for a repair at my cost they told me no can do.they meaning titanium co.doesnt do service.so till then when i can find someone using my old chicago elect.flux welder.was just shy of a year on my welder.snooky pa.💥🤟💥

    • @connorbabcock8197
      @connorbabcock8197 Před 2 lety +2

      If you can't get it repaired by them, you may as well pull the electric motor out and see what specs it is. A starter/alternator rebuild shop or a private welder repair place may be somewhere to go. The wire feed motor is probably a common thing. Also, you could get a spool gun and use the spool gun to weld with since it has its own feed motor. When im lazy I will put flux wire in my spool gun. Just gotta make sure the rollers are meant for the harder metal and not the smooth rollers meant for aluminum.

      @@connorbabcock8197 hello thanks for the hints on were to try and the tips on still using the welder.yes i do have the spool gun for aluminum and did wonder if that might work in the time till i can find a shop,just hoping wheels will interchange from mig mach.to spool gun.of course i can always go back to using stick if have too.my local steel supplier said he knew a guy that would work on it,but he mostly worked on name brands,miller,esab,lincon ect.but he may do.my chinesium welder.i lost his number so need to get again.kinda sucks when harbor frieght sells there stuff but has no service connections to fix them,when they fail early.well i guess thats why there bargain welders pay low buck and use till breaks,chuck it n buy another.or take a loan to buy a name brand. I bought titanium 200 because had such good reviews.it does weld nicely like a fool didnt think i needed to give them xtra money for extended warrenty.but regretting that move.anyhow thank for ideas!!snooky pa.💥👍💥

    @allensnook7760 Před 2 lety +1

    Could be your feeder motor is weak also,might be a warning its ready to go iam not sure maybe i had roll or pressur wheel set with to much drag and caused premature failure of feeder.snooky💥🤟💥

    • @jackofalltrades7822
      @jackofalltrades7822  Před 2 lety +2

      It’s done it since day one so I don’t think the motor is going bad. I think on 110 the capacitors are over discharging at the start. It only happens on 110v.

    Don’t people remove the zinc coating because when it gets burnt it creates toxic fumes that can kill your lungs, not for welding penetration?

    • @jackofalltrades7822
      @jackofalltrades7822  Před rokem +1

      The fumes are a valid reason but it does also effect the weld quality.

    When running gas on mig and tig. Does the gas run constantly or only when the trigger is pulled ?

    • @jackofalltrades7822
      @jackofalltrades7822  Před 11 měsíci +1

      On MIG the gas runs when the trigger is pulled. On TIG it runs all the time as it is a scratch start and is no trigger.

    Would this be appropriate for a beginner? I’m an experienced woodworker, and have done a bit of basic metal work, but have never welded. I’m thinking mostly flux-core and stick to start so I don’t have to buy gas. I have wired my shop for 240V.

    • @jackofalltrades7822
      @jackofalltrades7822  Před rokem +1

      It would be just fine. I would still try to use gas if you can. It makes a much nicer weld and is easier to weld with.

      @MD-en3zm Před rokem

      @@jackofalltrades7822 Thanks - it’s also (around here) more money than the welder. =p
      I can always start with flux core and then if I feel the need later, I can get gas and use it as a mig welder. I like the idea of having that option.
