It looks like a twelve figure income town but I love the shade of those license plates

I went to high school in New Canaan, My uncle Charlie Morton was First Selectman there back in the Reagan Era. He never locked his door at night like most people there but he had a massive gun collection let me note. My cousin Phil was on the police force. My old man and me split the rent on an upstairs apartment of a two family home there after my first tour of duty in the Army. He was a handyman there for the Heritage Hill apartments rich people rent for their elderly relatives and an ex-Marine DI. I worked in factory at the time. No, not many Black people but a Black family rented the ground floor apartment of the house I lived in. Their old man worked for Heritage Hill with my old man. Not too many Black millionaires which is why Beverly Hills doesn't have a large Black population either, Mostly Christopher Shay- Reagan Republicans including Ann Coulter who went to high school there, but David Letterman and Christopher Lloyd also lived there. Beautiful place. Admiral Nimitz retired there but a bit above my price range which as Uncle Charlie used to tell me is why you pretty much have to call out of town if you need a plumber or an electrician. My Korean wife and me used to go on leave there for the Family Fourth of July fireworks at Waveny Park and the Christmas carols at God's Acre but my cousin Paul Morton who's a realtor in Wilton just sold their property there and his brother Phil the cop retired to Cape Cod and his brother Pete the truck driver retired to North Carolina. Nice place to live if you got the money but I'm happy here in Killeen, Texas outside Fort Hood where I retired from the Army in 2002, One of my ancestors Thomas Fitch who was one the finest Yale lawyers in America and father of the colonial militia officer they wrote Yankee Doodle about was Governor of Connecticut back in the day but most of my family lives elsewhere. Way too expensive for all us penny pinching tight fisted old Connecticut Yankees.

I lived in New Canaan until 1955. The best place on earth. I had a gym teacher when I went to Center School named Al Scribner. Any relation?

I lived there for a couple of months in 1994 while working at Camp Y-ki. Great memories, really nice area, thanks for sharing. BTW, did you know that the movie "Ice storm" is set there?

Problem is, can you afford it? You might think it's an oasis but look at what happened in Greenwich, in 1975. I think I'd worry about that more than any minority. ;)
